Trattoria Pulcinella Ratings and Reviews
We love this restaurant. Have been coming for many years, and it doesn't disappoint. If you want an authentic, unhurried dining experience where they are genuinely happy to to see that you enjoy your meal, in a place that will make you think you're in a small trattoria in Italy, you'll like Pulcinella. Poached pear, prosciutto and gorgonzola appetizer always terrific. Our party of four all enjoyed our shared appetizers and pasta course, as well as our entrees, which were a mix of specials and items on the regular menu (which I understand is changing imminently -- so we'll have to go back soon). Squisito!
This is a small restaurant- 20 tables max.. where everything is cooked to order and delicious. The service is very personal and warm. The owner Giovanni oversees the entire operation, from the kitchen to the dining room. We split 2 appetizers for the 4 of us- the zucchini flower stuffed with mozzarella cheese was to die for, along with a salad- very nice. The osso bucco was a good portion size and very tasty, the veal bracciola was delicious. I had a whole roasted sea bream- very fresh and delicious. For dessert the tiramasiu and the panna cotta were just right. This place is a gem- love it.
Hidden gem in Cambridge with wonderful food and service (both of the owners served our table). We have been looking for a non-North End Italian restaurant for a while now and are incredibly glad we finally found one. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious and I will return again and repeat my order. Only thing, your tab will be a bit more expensive than you may think for a quaint Italian dinner.
We had a fabulous evening to celebrate our anniversary. The host/waiter was friendly informative and attentive. The selections were interesting and tantalizing. The grilled fresh sardines were equal to those we had in Venice. Everything was delicious We event got a candle in our amazing triamisu and complementary port. The aromas from the open kitchen were delightful. The service was so great - very white tablecloth! The tables were a bit close for intimate conversation but those also lent for a chat about what was ordered. We had a wonderful experience and will return!
We love this restaurant. The food is perfectly Italian - traditional, perfectly cooked, but a cut-above. The risotto is the best I have eaten. It is like eating in a favorite restaurant in Italy. You will not be dazzled, but will never be disappointed. The food is always delicious. It is a hideaway of the best kind! We have moved from the area, but go back every time we can - and have for 20 years!
Trattoria Pulcinella is one of our favorite restaurants, and this recent visit lived up to our expectations. Friendly service, great food, attention to dietary idiosyncracies. Not cheap -- expect to pay $100 or more for a dinner for two people (appetizers, entrees, bottle of wine) -- but worth it.
The food at Trattoria Pulcinella is almost always outstanding. The menu is unique and thoughtful and seems to represent what you would find at a typical southern Italian neighborhood restaurant. The wine list is thoughtful and bottles are usually priced very reasonably. There is a personal quality to the service because this is such a small place. Overall, I have returned many times and always find the experience rewarding.
I went here with my wife for dinner. This is a great little place! I am a hard reviewer, and tend to review things on the same scale, so while they aren't on par with Clio or Market, they offer tasty Italian food at good prices. The service is also very friendly. We will definitely go back.
My husband and I were visiting from Seattle and treid this restaurant because of its good reviews. We had the best dinner I have had in years. The food is intersting and absolutely delicious. We shared a baked pear/prociutto appetizer which was plenty for two. We were going to order two appetizers but our host said one would be plenty. I enjoyed the octopus linguine. We were considering whether to buy a bottle or glasses of wine and our host said he'd bring us two glasses of a good wine. He did and it was very good and he charged us very little for it. The restaurant is romantic and cozy, the service superb. If this was in my neighborhood I'd be there all the time!
The food is delicious and the patrons treated with appreciation and respect. Sets the standard for a neighborhood restaurant because it is family owned and the cook is superb. The waiters express enjoyment at serving the patrons and we will always return to Trattoria Pulcinella for special occasions and also with friends.
This restaurant was exactly what I was hoping it would be, namely an authentic Italian experience.
My Pennino Alla Matriciana was wonderful (the 'guanciale' was extremely tasty), and my wife loved her 'burrata' and fusilli & shrimp diavolo. And our waiter was super, telling us about the specials and recommending a liqueur at the end of the meal.
But the authentic part of the experience? Our dining was not rushed! We were given all the time we wanted to make up our minds, to chat between courses, and to linger even after we'd finished our espresso. Bravo!
Wow, I went to the restaurant with my family for a graduation celebration, and it was an amazing experience. The hostess truly made the experience; she was attentive and gave great wine recommendations (keeping budget in mind too). The food was unbelievable; I had the cognilio and the sauce was perfect, and the veal was so tender and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended, and the staff made this a wonderful memory.
The food at Trattoria Pulcinella was good, but probably not worth the price.
The bread served before the meal was a bit dry. I had the lamb shank when I visited. It was very tender, but the overall flavor did not stand out.
Service wise, our waiter was very careless when refilling out water. He managed to splash water outside of our glasses every visit without fail. Otherwise, the service was gracious, but this peculiarity was fairly annoying and memorable.
Overall, I judge that we could of had a better experience elsewhere.
