Trattoria Mollie Ratings and Reviews
Mollie has been turning out outstanding Italian food at this location for the last 24 years. Delightful staff where lots of locals eat. If in the area and want outstanding food this is not to be missed. We always make this place our first night's stop when we arrive in town. Kind of a tradition.
We love the food here, and Mollie is an amazing host! Our 5 year old daughter knows a good soul, and she and Mollie hit it off straight away! The meatballs are legendary and worth trying. Portions are sized to allow for dessert, and you’ll want to try them all. Cognac affogato can’t be beat! Best kids buttered pasta (I know!) we’ve ever ordered, anywhere. Period.
My family came to Trattoria Mollie to celebrate our sister, Erlinda's 70th Birthday. The service was excellent and the food was delicious, exceeding our expectations. Our group ordered different dishes, sharing the dishes to let others taste. All agreed every dish was scrumptious and worth every bite. Meeting Chef Mollie and taking pictures with her was the highlight of our dining experience. Our birthday celebrant was so delighted with meeting Chef Mollie. Thank you, Chef Mollie for taking the time to meet us and for the pictures with you that we will cherish always.
A fantastic dining experience. Excellent, fresh and creative food, perfect service and the pleasure of Mollie's presence. A must place to eat in the Santa Barbara area. Indeed, perhaps the best place to eat in the area of one appreciates Italian food at all.
Absolutely incredible food. The lasagna is to die for. Would not change a thing except ensure they had more wait staff. I think someone called out sick that evening and they were under staffed. HOWEVER, the wait staff was exceptionally apologetic for not being able to be as helpful as they would have liked and that smoothed everything out.
Food was great. Service wasn't. We've been here before and things went well. We were informed one server didn't show up so understandable poor service, but anything we needed (water refills, a cocktail, wine, dessert, etc, etc.) involved flagging someone down. The meal took FOREVER and wasn't a pleasant experience because of that.
Reserved a table. Shown to the patio, where swarming flies and an overhead intense halogen bulb and the incessant road noise of Coast Village road greeted us. Requested a seat inside. Waited 20 minutes under the interrogation lamp. Was never seated. Left, and will not return.
Disappointing. Greeting by the hostess was awkward and no server nor anyone else in the restaurant was concerned that our table was the only table without service for a very long time, although tables around us were being serviced regularly. Service remained slow for the entire evening and the food was far from extraordinary. Appetizers were competent, the bread on the table (which also was not provided to us for a very long time) was fresh baked but rather bland. The signature dish was neither interesting nor very tasty. My dining companion had a similar view of her main dish entree. All in all, it was a disappointing dining experience. If you do try this place, start with low expectations and hope they can rise above them. We did the opposite and regret it.
With the celebrity following and so amazing reviews I expected so much more from Trattoria Mollie. We were stuck in the back of a dated restaurant while the staff waited on two larger parties, we were ignored and when finally given some attention, it was hurried and our questions about the menu and wine list were barely answered. I was having seriously restaurant envy watching the spots across the street and several times my husband and I considered walking out. Over all a terrible experience and the turkey meatballs were flavorless.
Our first experience and a beautiful one at that! Carlos took great care of us and Mollie made us feel welcome as well as feeding us incredibly well. Wine, salad, bruschetta, a slice of delicious cheese pizza & perfectly executed pasta. We've just returned from Italy, the land of handmade pasta cooked al dente AND we felt as if we were back there with the tastes and flavors. Creamy and delectable tiramisu finished off our evening. Lovely conversation with Mollie at the end of the evening and we will return on a regular basis!
Went in a Tuesday night. Not very busy. Took forever for waitress to take our order as she tripped over herself wait I g on the table of regulars next to us. Guess what? We tip, too! Probably better if we hadn't had to ask for bread and Parmesan 3x before it got to our table. But we Came for Oprah's favorite turkey meatballs, not for the service
Came here to have a romanitc dinner with my husband. The ambiance was perfect for what we were looking for. However, the service wasn't too great, the food was bland, and considering the place was pretty much dead, we got seated next to a loud group anyway. The waittress we had didn't seem excited to be there, she was quite rude and would talk to her coworker in Spanish about the people at the tables that she had. As far as the food went, husband got the meatballs with spaghetti, the meatballs were good but nothing to rave about and the pasta was absolutely tasteless. I got the ravioli with ricotta and spinach and it was a disaster. No flavor, it was cold, and I had no appetite after a few bites. We came on a Friday around 8 and it was absolutely dead. Very few people were there and we got sat next to a group. Other couples were scattered around the restaurant but us. So we were dissapointed. Would we try this place again? Probably not.
