Trattoria Italian Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter neglected to tell us about the special even though it was not on the menu. We paid a lot more than we would have. He justified that by saying we ordered other stuff before he could tell us. Poor excuse. They did give us a free dessert per the manager. Would go back but not with the waiter we had. His attitude was not good.
My party of four and I enjoyed our meals, but We were extremely disappointed in the service. Our server was kind a personable, but we had a very frustrating experience with another member of the serving team. We were there on May 5th, and another server/ bartender came over to our table and asked if we wanted to do some tequila shots since it was cinco de mayo. The man did not mention any further details such as the type of tequila, and if it was on the house or not. Two members of our party said yes and we're served 2 shots of tequila. A few minutes later, our primary server comes over and says "I can't believe (the man's name) got you guys to take shots of Patrone!". Our primary server made a point of saying this twice on two separate visits to the table. We felt as though our prmairy server was trying to inform us what we had ordered and we're expected to pay for, since the male server left out these significant details. The man who served us the shots did not at any point mention we ordered (and were expected to pay for) shots of Patrone which were $18 each. Had we known the cost of each shot, we would not have said yes. We felt very deceived, cheated, and frustrated. We would not return to this restaurant based on this experience.
Food & service were excellent but we found table too small for 5 people. We were at a table meant for 4 people with chairs on each end. When the food came it was difficult to fit the shared plates on the table. We were also not very comfortable as it was tight on all sides.
Not a place to have pasta. The food lacked seasoning especially their signature meatball. When the pasta arrived, it was cold. Seemed like it had been sitting around for awhile. The service could have been better; our water glasses were not even refilled. The best part of the meal was our cocktail-limoncello and peach mojito. I would not recommend this place. It seems like it has gone downhill since they opened a few years ago. Very disappointing as we have been there several times in the past and it has progressively gotten worse.
We had a great dinner starting with a well seasoned tender meatball, followed by a creamy smoked salmon radiatori which was great with a side of bread. The tomato caprese salad was fresh with very good tasting tomatoes, fresh basil, and some soft freshly made burrata. The chaucuterie platter was a bit thin with only two thin slices each of pancetta and salami three small half inch cubes of a local blue and three thin 1/2 slices of a local gouda and some toasted naan points. Reliable good tasting pasta, too bad the one in West Vancouver suffers from inconsistent service, food quality, and a reputation of such.
I think my recent experience is not representative of the restaurant as I have had better food there before. However, this was Dine Out, and the Veal Schnitzel we ordered tasted warmed over; the way meat gets tough and soggy. The appetizers, on the other hand were fresh and good, though the burrata portion felt a bit skimpy compared to how I have had it in other restaurants. I will however go back and order from the a la carte menu, and hope to regain my earlier enthusiasm for this venue.
The food was good but not memorable. Our party had pasta, veal and salmon. The pasta was cooked perfectly but we all felt the dishes were a little over salted and although good not particularly memorable. For the price point we were expecting more. The bufala and tomato salad was the highlight. Very nice.
We fully enjoyed our meal. We had used a promotional offer for a 3 course meal. We started with the buratta and prosciutto with pesto and seasonal bread. Absolutely delicious. We followed that with a platter for two with the (signature) meat balls (aptly named) and spaghetti, tiger prawns, and chicken picante with roasted seasonal vegetables. We ate every bite as all components were tasty. Particularly enjoyed the meat balls and roasted Brussels sprouts. Tiramisu for desert was good. Definitely would recommend.
Had a special deal: $49 for two person 3-course (app, entree, dessert)
Great food, nice environment, decent ambient noise volume, relatively easy parking.
Chair was a little hard after 2 hours straight, but quite a minor issue. Staff / waitresses were nice, cheerful, helpful.
