Trattoria Italian Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Food and value is very good.
Service by Jason average at best - no smile and very perfunctory. Asked for honey (for tea) and was told they only had enough for the kitchen! Did not make for a pleasant brunch.
Observed the other servers who interacted with guests and seemed more service oriented.
When paying with gift card was not asked to add tip (partly my fault I guess) and I had to scrounge around for change!
Would still go back as I’ve had many enjoyable meals there.
I made a reservation for a Dine out Vancouver menu on the last day of the event. I was in Japan for the most of the period and had just few days left when I came back to Vancouver. So I tried a restaurant in my neighbourhood I've never been. It was a hit. Their dine out Vancouver menu was one of the best I had ! I'll go back there again for sure.
We were there for happy hour and tried the calamari and a meat pizza. Both were only so so. The calamari was tough and overly breaded - the sauce was great though. Pizza was cheesy with sparse toppings. Our waitress on the other hand was lovely, attentive and helpful.
The restaurant was very busy so was very noisy. Made conversation a little difficult at times. Food was very good, I had a short rib pasta that was delicious. I was dining with 6 other people who all found their various dishes very good although one said her gnocchi was a bit bland. Tiramisu for dessert was very generous and tasty. Server was awesome! Extremely efficient and courteous. Small mix up with bill but he was gracious and patient and had error fixed immediately and smoothly. Would definitely visit again!
Came here for Dine Out 2018. The food was ok but uninspiring. Nothing that made me think, wow, this is amazing and I would eat this again. Food doesn't have to be cooked using all the latest techniques to make it exciting - I have had very simple pasta dishes at family style Italian restaurants and have loved it. It's all about the flavours and they were not that developed here.
The happy hour selection of drink and food was first rate, the service was great and the price very affordable. I found the noise level somewhat distracting and would not recommend this for a quiet intimate meeting or rendezvous. But it IS great for good food and good value.
The food was very good, and our waiter was excellent. The menu selection was nice and large. However, the overall experience was diminished by the noise level. Sitting across from my guest, we were unable to carry on a normal conversation through the meal. This fact really detracted from the overall experience for us.
It is a good place to eat comfort food (rich and heavy pasta dish) as a family if you don't mind the price. Kid friendly and large volume. Not great for a romantic evening out as ambience is suited for family with young children. I think it's priced as if a nicer restaurant but it's more of a family restaurant. Quality of food is good, but it's vegan/vegetarian unfriendly. I picked it because someone said it was, but there is nothing vegan, and barely anything vegetarian. The waiter was rude and lectured me on the importance of cheese. My teenager enjoyed the food, but I wouldn't go back for me.
The food was good but was heavily outweighed by the lack of ambience. We were a party of 5 seated at a table for 4 with a chair added at the end. We had made the reservation well in advance so was surprised our party size was treated as an afterthought. I asked if we could move but was told no in spite of the fact half the tables were empty. We were told in advance that we would have two hours for dinner but they brought the food so quickly and cleared just as quickly I didn’t feel we could enjoy the experience. They made sure we knew the timer was running. We weren’t slow or dawdling but they still kept rushing us along. Will not ever return. Not a great experience
I received a notice of a “Know Show” however we did indeed show promptly at 6 pm as scheduled. We dine here often and always makes reservation as it is a busy place. We liked everything except Table 22. It’s the proverbial “fish bowl” and in the middle of the room—just a place to seat a party of two without a “reservation!”
I was 20 mins early for my reservation for 630. It was my birthday that day. I did call prior just to let them know I might be late. I was informed if im late 15mins after the initial booking. I will be moved to the bottom of the list. This perhaps is a standard policy but im not happy with the way it was convyed. Overall my experience was good.
Initially I had open table open about to complete my reservation, but thought I'd opt to call in to make a reservation. Whoever answered the phone said there was no availability, which was odd because I was able to complete the reservation. Not sure how open table works though ... happy we were able to squeeze in though.
Once we got there, we ordered my favorite appetizer that I had eaten there quite a few times when I lived in Vancouver; Prosciutto and Burrata. The Burrata and pesto were lovely, but the prosciutto was cut too thick, or was just a really tough piece (I know odd - prosciutto usually melts in your mouth!!).
Even though that could have left a bad experience, the manager and server were both very apologetic and the manager said it will be fixed for the next night. They removed the whole appetizer and gave us a small portion of meatballs compliments of the house! So unexpected and above and beyond! Very much appreciated!
You can tell that this restaurants stands behind their food. and thrives on local clientele.
The truffle cream pasta with meatballs is amazing!
Trattoria Italian Kitchen sits just across the road from our favorite Italian restaurant in Kits. We selected Trattoria Italian Kitchen restaurant because it was open late, and we were able to make a 10:30pm reservation for our group, not to mention the good recommendation. We arrived 30 minutes late, but we were seated in time before last call.
Our sever was friendly, very courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to explain the menu and also recommend the vegan and gluten free options that some the members of our group were interested.
Our pleasant surprise was the food. It was tasty, fresh and of good quality. The preparation was impeccable. These people know their stuff and kudos to the kitchen staff.
We are glad to say that our first experience in this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Needless to say, we will be coming back for more!
Maybe I just ordered wrong things. I don't know why here is rated a high score.(4 stars is high in my eye) I ordered a pasta with shrimps, which were too salty. The pasta itself was also not surprising. The only thing we found good could be the chicken breast; however, why should I come to an italian restaurant for chicken?
