Trattoria Italian Kitchen - Burnaby
I went there two years ago and had bad experience. I wanted to give them a second chance and it was a mistake. Food portions was small and not tasty. Service was not great but acceptable. They price themselves above earls/cactus level, then I expect better than earls/cactus service and food level. The host at earls at least do not dress in jeans. I do not recommend anyone to go there and I will not go back anymore.
Spectacular appetizers. I had the clams/mussels and my wife the meatballs and both were shareable and really done to perfection. The clams and mussels had an excellent fennell garnish with pork sausage which complimented it nicely. The baked meatballs had a bit of a nice kick and with the Parmesan polenta were supreme. For the entree I had the veal and penne and she had the braised rib and penne and both were outstanding. One small point is the penne could have used another minute in the water and needed a bit more sauce but that is really nitpicking it. Two terrific pieces of veal done to perfection. My wife's braised short rib was tender and tasty and a real treat. It would be interesting to learn how long it is actually braised for but is was perfect. I had room for desert and had their Salted Caramel Budino and to say it was good is a massive understatement - it was supreme. Great service and very good value with outstanding food and their attention to detail is very clear.
We truly enjoyed our dining experience as staff and service was amazing. Food was excellent and ambience was great
Pasta were all delicious. Took a while before a waitress came over to take our order or give us water. Overall was very good.
We were a family of 10 ranging from youngest being 12 years old to grand parents in their 80's out celebrating birthday over pasta Tuesday. Our server Claire, was very patient in accommodating and addressing the needs of the youngsters (there were 5 between ages of 12-18). The food was delicious and fabulous as always. We had a bit of trouble accessing the WIFI to which the manager went out of his way to resolve. And being that we were celebrating a birthday, the complimentary tiramisu was very well received. We will definitely be coming back.
We had a great time, both the food and service were great!
Great food, great service, great wine. Location is convenient. The brussel sprouts is a MUST...i have converted many brussel sprout haters! Every dish (and wine) ive tried has been delicious. Noise level is usually high unless you go early.
Would have preferred for our appetizer platter to not come all the the same time as our pasta and meat platters, I would have expected some stages for each course versus all at once. Made for our food getting cold before being able to fully enjoy them. Didn’t want to make a big deal since it was Father’s Day and didn’t want to spoil it for my family, but it was annoying. Been to other Trattoria locations and it has never been a problem before, odd.
It took us half an hour or more to get our food and the table who was seated after us got their food before we did. It didn't make sense. The place wasn't even packed.
Father’s Day. Our server was very pleasant. Food and beverage were great and we will plan to come back soon.
Father’s day celebration
Amazing experience. Authentic dishes. Fresh ingredients. Outstanding service. And wonderful ambiance.
No fault of the business, the location of being at Kingsway and Willingdon really kills the ambience when sitting outside, the inside is always fantastic but when the suns out it’s nice to enjoy the weather! The food as usual is fantastic.
Tratt Tuesday is a pasta lovers day to note on their calendar. Virtually all the pasta selections are delicious. The hardest part of the evening is which to choose. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable on what you wish to pair it with. My experience with Trattoria Italian Kitchen Burnaby has always been a delight.
Food was great but the value of the price is too much. Serving wise, it was small especially the tenderloin steak that we ordered.
We had the carne platter, it was excellent as was the Bruschetta appy, there was plenty of food which was seasoned perfectly. There was some confusion when we got there about where we were to sit however the head hostess stepped in right away and took care of it right away. If you like chick peas I highly recommend the Bruschetta.
We had the pasta platter for two. Delicious! Only complaint is that I think they rushed it just a little as some of the pastas were VERY al dente. Crab and Lobster Ravioli was amazing.
Tables are not private at all. Very squished together. Not the place to go for a quiet conversation.
Red Sangria was refreshing and light. Perfect with the pasta!
Myself and my boyfriend decided to come here for our 6 month anniversary today! Neither of us had been here before but we thought we’d try it out after seeing all of the great reviews online. I’m so glad we chose this restaurant for our special occasion.
I ordered the Gnocci with the mushroom Risotto on the side. The gnocchi was a little softer than the ones I am used to making at home, but the gorgeous flavour of pesto really pulled through and still made this a wonderful, light dish. The risotto was creamy and beautiful and just brought me right back to having risotto as a kid.
My favourite mixed drink would have to be a mojito. So naturally, I ordered one here. I’ve had many mojitos in my life, but the one I was served today has to be one of the best, if not the best one I’ve ever had. It wasn’t too sour, still had a hint of sweetness, and oh my goodness the mint just blew me away. I’ve never had a mojito that tasted as fresh as the one I had today.
It was a tiny bit too loud inside and I felt like the table was a bit too long so I had to really reach to hold my boyfriends hand across the table... but those were really the only downsides.
The washroom was gorgeous, absolutely beautiful. It had a very modern, dark, admirable feel to it.
The wait time was pretty much nonexistent. Our food came very quickly and we could tell it was prepared properly and with good quality ingredients. Everything was so fresh.
The service was wonderful. I’ll definitely be recommending this restaurant to my friends and family. And I’ll definitely be coming back again myself!
Great service. Manager was amazing. She made our little one's first birthday special. Definitely will go back soon!
The experience here was horrible, we came to celebrate my daughters birthday and it was also Mother's day. Sadly she would have felt more special if we would have taken her to Denny's. From burnt appetizers to luke warm food platters the food was a great disappointment. The service was lack luster at best, and while they were not busy or packed, we waited for drinks that were forgotten, and given our main dish platters for the table but they removed the plates to put the food on. Come desert time they did nothing special to acknowledge the birthday girl nor did they ever even mention Happy Mother's day. An overpriced experience all the way around.
The food during the buffet was shockingly expensive, $45 per person. They should have offered non buffet because we were not told about this when I reserved.. customer courtesy and service could’ve been better. Pasta is always good and pizza but not for $45 per person!!
Overall I enjoyed my brunch here. I wish there were a few more items on the menu and wish parking was free but those are my only complaints. Food was tasty, service was good.
Food took way too long and waitress did not address or care.
Server was good, but they delayed our appetizer right to the delivery of our entrees (to their credit they comped the appetizer). But salmon piece was very small and not cooked well and my chicken marsala was tasty, but was served lukewarm. So perhaps service wasn't that great... Versus the other Trattoria chickens we felt level of food was much lower quality so disappointing.
Amazing 99% of the time. They make slight changes on the same menu but it's better every time. I love their food.
Excellent service! The Roman Power salad with versde goddess dressing and the brussel sprouts are my favourite.
Great Italian and a departure from the usual Canadian 'same same' menu.
I felt rushed to get to business. I came to meet an old friend and repeatedly was being interrupted to order my meal. Which when we opted to put our servers out of their misery, the food arrived cold. Then, nobody came to see how my meal was until it was time to settle up. Even said it was a birthday we were celebrating but yet no mention of it. Half priced bottles of wine could've had us buying not just one, but possibly 2 or 3...and dessert to top it off. Thanks for comping me my appetizer, but I won't be back.
A little on the noisy side for folks with hearing challenges. It's hard to find a place that isn't these days. Aside from that, I have nothing negative to say. Everything else was great. I have celiac disease and was able to enjoy a tasty, gluten-free pasta dish on Pasta Tuesday. A bonus for me!!!
Experience was wonderful.
My experience with the waitress was great however when we walked in a waitress walked by and smiled and didn’t say a word , then another waitress did the same. I just thought if they said “ someone would be with you shortly” would of been nice.
Great burrata and prosciutto appetizer. Nice prawn pasta. Enjoyed our visit.
11 of us went for dinner, 4 kids 13 years of age. 7 adults. Waiter was efficient and very attentive. Food was fast and timed nicely, in that we enjoyed an appetizer before the rest arrived. Taste, presentation, and quality were all very good! Would definitely recommend this restaurant and return to it when we are back in the area.
The buy up brunch deal was great! The service was amazing!
Brunch was amazing. Amir and his team did a great job. Great value. Will come back again
Lunch was lovely. The manager even treated us to dessert. I cannot wait to go back!
This was a follow-up visit as 1st visit was a disappointment. A letter of complaint resulted in Trattoria enticing us back with a free gift card, a nice gesture. Meal much better & server (Edi) was great. Not sure will go again as the parking is difficult, minimum on-street parking that is metered.
Great food, great ambiance, and great service. This is one of my favourite spots.
