Exceptional food with incredible service and a great wine list! Everything we tried had flavors bursting and was a real treat.
A beautiful environment. Wine list not to be missed.
Just incredible service. The food was very very good. But the service was exceptional.
Service very good as was food. Waiter very helpful with suggestions.
We had dinner at Trattoria before a concert in downtown Nashville. The overall ambience and service was well above average and the food was very good. The staff was very professional and attentive. Though a bit above average in pricing, the overall experience was worth it. Will definitely go back.
This is a very expensive restaurant. If the food was outstanding , it might be good for a special occasion, but our meal was just "good" not "great". The service was very good. The ambiance was so-so (noisy serving area next to a quiet room; bar with TV on; food prep area near booths). The hostess stand is hard to find - we entered through the lobby of the Hilton Hotel and had to weave our way through the restaurant to find the stand in the back corner of the bar. Most food items were a la carte. Generous pasta serving. A martini was $17, which turned my husband off from ever coming again! Wished I could say better things about it.
Visiting Nashville for the weekend! Happened by the restaurant and made reservation for following day and all my friends were also impressed with the food, service & desserts!! Wonderful experience!
So good. Second time and fantastic both times I have been.
Byron and Ben took GREAT care of us. We were trying to make an early Symphony concert. They brought out the food in a timely manner. It was all delicious & an exceptional respite on a crazy, busy day!
Really this should be 3 1/2 stars. However, the service was outstanding! From the seating by the hostess a corner table for two, a square with 2 place settings and 2 chairs at right angles to each other (without needing to request it), to intelligent and efficient wait staff (Anna) who could describe and answer questions about ALL the menu items and even the cocktails and wine, to and the water and bread service staff. All shone with some of that forgotten flair you used to see in formal Italian restaurants, yet this place had a more casual vibe wood table tops not white linens. Cocktails were spectacular, some offering locally produced bourbon (Kentucky might not like that TN!) which is smooth as silk. Homemade soprpressata tender and zesty. An especially nice feature was the ability to construct wine flights out of the by the glass selections to pair with courses. Multiple bread choices are offered, butter is soft. Here’s what detracts - not all dishes are prepared equally well. Some were outstanding like the soup special, a corn chowder with mushroom, creamy and unctuous and sweet like fresh, ripe corn. A hearty dish that fortunately is served in an appetizer portion. Very satisfying. The panzanella salad was fresh crisp and lightly dressed. The black ink fettuccini had tender pulpetto pieces and a flavorful light sauce. Disappointing was the signature dish of porcini ravioli - the ravioli were tough on the edges, as if undercooked or the fresh pasta was allowed to dry out. The distinctive porcini flavor was lacking. The veal piccata was tender but bland, though helped by a great sauce. Deserts were out of this world especially with the espresso drinks. Maybe it was an off night, or these were not the best entree choices. If the entrees we selected had been as good as everything else this meal would have been 5 Star good!
We went there to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary. The staff wrote us a handwritten note congratulating us and they were very attentive. I'd definitely go back.
For the price and the occasion (30th birthday dinner), the food was not all that special. They did write my fiancé a birthday card though, which was cute.
Great food including the Pesto Cavatelli...service A+...this is the best place in Nashville for Italian Food, especially before a Preds game or a Ryman concert
Great overall. Our waiter told us he made a error and charged another tables bill to ours. So...I have to wait for it to disappear from my CC statement. Not too thrilled about that.
Ambiance a little dark, but everyone so very friendly from the hostess stand to the manager who stopped by the table. Food was excellent. Will definitely be back.
We will definitely be back! Service was exceptional. We live in Brentwood and had an old friend visiting Nashville for business. We wanted something upscale with great food and wine, yet casual enough to bring our kids on a school night. Trattoria il Mulino did not disappoint. We all loved it!
I must say, fantastic Italian in Nashville. Quite excited and happy to find such a place. We tried three pasta dishes, and all delivered. Also tried some fish and that was equally tasty. The sauces, tomato basil, cream, etc were all made to what I'd describe as my high Italian standard. For appetizers the meatballs were tender and flavorful, watermelon burrata was unique and complimentary, and the octopus was firm. Limoncello tiramisu is such a unique take on a fine dessert and it delivers. The unique drinks they have on their menu were quite flavorful as well.
I do agree with other reviews that the service is slow, especially at the beginning with getting drinks however it is well-worth the money spent.
The restaurant was amazing from the time we walked in the doors. The servers (we had 3) were attentive and very friendly, we even learned some things about the entrees and different types of the breads. The food was melting in our mouths and the chicken parm was huge. Definitely will come back next we are in town.
Unbelieve food and service. Highly recommended
We have dined at Trattoria Il Mulino several times and until now always have had an excellent dinner. This time the results were mixed. The soup of the day, a fish stew, was delicious, as was the Trattoria salad. However the meatball pizza was a disappointment. The crust was tough and rubbery and the pizza was lukewarm, not hot. This was the first time we ordered pizza, and we are not inclined to order it again. However, all other menu items we have tried in the past have been delicious.
Lovely dinner, great food and service. Fantastic location. Very different(in a good way)from the other downtown hotspots.
Out with friends
Awesome food! Great birthday dinner for my son!
Chef Wil Hand added his special touch!
Thank you for a memorable night!
Very nice atmosphere. Great service and very good menu and wine selections. We loved the food especially the bread and the pasta dishes.
We were sat outside in 90 degree weather... it took about 15 minutes for our waiter to greet us. Food was okay I guess. Rather go to Maggianos
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The service was outstanding and the food was impeccable. I highly recommend
Great food and service. Music and noise from bar area was a bit to loud.
We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday that evening. Our waiter, Chris, was attentive and helpful with the menu. We sampled the wine before purchasing a glass which I appreciated tremendously. I had the Porcini Ravioli which was superb. And my daughter had the Papperdelle with lobster. I would definitely recommend your establishment.
Our first visit was Monday dinner which was better than expected. In fact it was so good we’re here today for lunch. Monday our servers Byron and Shane were so attentive and cordial. The restaurant is immaculate and the choice of food is endless. You can substitute from the menu. They are here to please. They’re located adjoining the Hilton in midtown Nashville away from the honky tonk.
Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
Mediocre food and poor service... very disappointed
Overall experience was good! Service was very attentive BUT had to ask more than once for a few items requested such as ice, bread and extra item with the meal. Not a very busy night with plenty of staff!
Great food as always. The waiters are knowledgeable of optional changes to the menu. Never disappointed at this restaurant.
Great Meatballs and Ravioli! Fabulous service! It was hard to decide on what to eat, everything sounded so good. We will go back and try some other menu items next time.
Went for lunch and our server was excellent. The homemade pasta was the star of lunch with this amazing light tomato sauce & correctly cooked fish, shrimp & clam atop. The steak and mushroom soup was delicious and the chocolate torte was worth getting just for the raspberry injection! Would definitely return.
Meatballs are amazing!!! Grilled Octopus is so good.
Great food and service. We will definitely visit again soon!
The food was very good and the price was expected. However, I was disappointing that twice the both servers reached across me to pick up something on the other side of my plate. This is a lack of training. Pick up from the right and drop off from the left. Never reach across the patron.
We left kind of disappointed for the 2nd time. The location is very convenient if you are attending an event downtown but there are better choices for what you will spend. We started with the watermelon burrata appetizer which was really good but it went downhill from there. I got a flatbread pizza that was so bland and flavorless and we ordered a size of Brussels sprouts which arrived bordering on cold and rather soggy. My husband’s veal was decent but overall we spent $100 and left just not feeling like the meal was worth that. Our waitress was great so no complaints about the service.
The ambiance was delightful! The service was great! The food was delicious!
Awesome dining experience! Our server was great - the food was amazing. There are sooo many nice little touches, from the lighting, to the menu, the homemade pasta. Well worth the $$ and will definitely return. We had the lamb and the porcini ravioli, but suggested by our server. AMAZING!
Melissa was our server, and I can only say WOMDERFUL things about her knowledge and service. We each had different entries. Everyone was very happy with the food, atmosphere and service. Two of us are hearing aide wearers, and the noise level was okay—better than many other places we visited in Nashville I made sure to rave about our experience to locals. I’ll go back next trip to Nashville!
