Trattoria Il Mulino - Nashville Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent, prepared to perfection. Dining experience from service and timing very appropriate. My only rub: I made reservations over one month out for Valentines with my wife, son and expecting daughter in law, when we arrived 10 mins. early, we were asked to wait in a dreary corner by the stairs. I can deal, but there were at least 5 tables that would accomodate us. Then when called for seating, we were placed at the closest table on the opposite side of that same corner by the other 2 chair waiting area. Usually when I reserve through Open Table I get a good table. Also where I come from when you book this far out, the restaurant appreciates you enough to make your dining experience special. Not good.
Disappointing evening. We sat for almost 10 minutes before being greeted and taking our drink order. Service improved after that, but it was a bad first impression.
Food was even more disappointing. Caesar salad was average, but the Chicken Costa was flavorless. The flourless chocolate torte was the best part of the meal.
It was a joke to call the mozzarella "freshly home-made". Not a chance. Grocery store brand is much better. Similar with the rest of our meal. I've rarely seen a restaurant with such disappointing fare. Avoid at all cost.
looking for good Italian, they have it. each item prepared with special attention to detail. calamari lighted beaded served with a delicate sauce. catch of the day (mahi) presented on sautéed kale topped with a tasty blend of veggies. a soup of the day ( chicken mushroom) that packed some serious flavor . we will be back to sample some of their other interesting selections.
Food was ok. Service was attentive but the price you pay is not worth it! Wait staff should inform you when there is an upcharge for meat sauce (but no downcharge for swapping out meat sauce for marinara sauce). Waitstaff should also inform the customer when there is a significant charge per meatball! Other than the outrageous upcharges with no notification this restaurant is just ok. Nothing to go out of the way for in my opinion.
We went for out daughters 15th birthday. She picked out the restaurant she loves Italian food. The waiter was to busy to serve us. Not sure if he figured we wouldn't be leaving a tip or what the issue was. I had to flag down other waiters for bread, water and finally the bill. They never even offered to show us a dessert menu. We won't be going back.
The service was not up to our expectations. We had 2 people who were joining us late (we made this known upon arrival) but our wait team completely ignored us for over 30 minutes until we complained several times. We had to ask to order drinks, appetizers, entrees. Once we made it known that we were unhappy, they were very attentive. The food was pretty good overall but not sure I would visit again. Location is great since it is right across from Bridgestone Arena, so it would be convenient to pair with an event if looking for something close by.
Right across from Bridgestone arena and good downtown location. Near Hilton. Complementary valet parking. Great bar/good drinks. Very good Italian food options, though expensive. Also not a wide variety of choices for more unique Italian items. Very helpful and good service. Good food. Crowded when Events across the street.
The Delicious food and great menu brought us back again. We were able to make a reservation on open table. Traffic delays caused us to be late and when I called they were very understanding and said our table would be ready when we arrived. Upon arrival we were greeted openly and taken to our table. The service was excellent and so was the food.
The menu is varied, and the restaurant is pleasant. The preparation is good. The downer came with a $4 open food charge for altering an appetizer, after being told the restaurant prides itself on permitting changes. The charge was finally removed.
Very limited Italian in Nashville TN but we always look for Italian when traveling. Food was delicious, great bisque and Ceasar salads. Spaghetti and meatballs perfect! Lemon dessert was devine! The only negative was the minimal pour of my $16/glass cabernet. Even when I reluctantly requested a heavier pour (quite embarrassing, but I felt compelled to point it out), my server told me that's how he would lose his job! Needless to say....that was awkward, but overall experience was excellent!
Although the service was attentive and enjoyable, the food was not so much. The ravioli was presented well and tasty. However the simple spaghetti and meatballs had an off texture and zero flavor. About an hour or so later, the person that consumed the spaghetti got ill. This did not make traveling the next morning easy or comfortable.
We were late for our reservations because of bad weather, and then rushed to eat and get to and event- the restaurant was incredibly understanding and accommodating. The service was excellent- from the hostess who greeted us, to the waiter how understood our need to be quick but never made us feel rushed, to the manger who check in with us at the end of the meal. The food was delicious. I had been there for a business lunch previously and both time the food was fantastic -fresh and flavorful. The wine was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend the restaurant for the food and atmosphere but most importantly because of the wonderful, kind and attentive service.
Lovely surprise in the midst of Nashville's convention district. Located adjacent to the Hilton, we were initially concerned that we were getting a "hotel restaurant." But that wasn't the case whatsoever. Lovely, elegant without being haute - delightful meal, gracious and enthusiastic (but not overboard) service. Just all in all a(nother) Nashville delight. Looking forward to an excuse to go back the next time I'm in Nashville.
Great find!! We were in Nashville -a last minute decision and were lucky to get an open table spot here that fit into our schedule. Cold night and what a warm inviting restaurant. Loved the whole experience. Will definitely return. Ask for booth. They sit away from doors and bar. Great experience from start to finish!!!
