Amazing lunch! Enjoyed everything we had, and the staff were all spectacular! They really go above and beyond to make you have an outstanding experience! Next time will try out the beautiful riverside patio.
We love the ambiance and feel of this restaurant, and it is always my first choice when planning for a special event. (We were celebrating 3 birthdays that evening). Unfortunately the noise level that evening was unbearable. Three of us sat at the round table in the centre of the room. A table of 6 adults sat behind and were unbelievably/unbearably loud (not sure where they thought they were). Later a party of (I'm guessing, 10 - 15) came in and sat at a long table in front of the fireplace. We were not able to carry on a discussion, we subtly moved our chairs closer together, but that did not make a difference. We enjoyed our meals, and did not comment on the noise until we left. We were sorry that we did not make reservations in the beautiful, and quiet bar. Thank you.
Mother’s Day dinner... unusually quiet, was expecting a busier night. Food was fantastic as usual! Service was great.
Made reservations for a party of 8, took over an hour to receive our order, no ever came back to see how the food was or if we needed anything else. I wanted to order a glass of wine the next time someone would come to our table, someone from our table actually had to go to the bar to order a glass.
I had the chicken Parmesan. The best I have ever had! Will come back just for that!
We have been here several times and have enjoyed lunch and dinner. Love the outdoor patio on a bright summer day. Our served did make an error on the order but promptly corrected it. Pizza here is amazing!!!
Thank you for the wonderful dinner once again! My husband loved his surprise birthday dessert. It is so nice to go somewhere that staff recognize us. Our very favourite special occasion place
Went for lunch at 12.30 as reserved. Our table had been given to someone else so it took a bit of time to seat us. They had run out of soup, beet salad and quiche. Long wait for the food which was good once it arrived. Ordered cake for dessert. The waitress came back to say the cake had been spoiled in the baking but offered me another dessert free of charge. Lots of apologies but still.....
Pre-theatre lunch, reserved for 8 at 12:15 pm. We are all there seated, order our entrees. First bad sign, told they were out of soup, then next person wanted the Beet Salad, out of that item too. Really? By 12:15 pm? Two items off the menu? Two of our parties order meals that come with salads, they are served. We wait, we wait. Now 1 pm. I flag our server and tell her we have a theatre time to meet. She notes it. Now 1:15 pm. We have been seated for an hour, no meal, no explanation, no server in sight. I walk to the reception desk, first I am told to wait, then our server comes. I remind her of our timing issues, she looks at me and says "I have told the kitchen, there is nothing more I can do for you". I ask for a manager, I am told, "no manager". Back to the table have a discussion my friends, server then appears and says that they are having oven issues and it is the pizza order that is holding up all our lunches. First we have been told of this or even advised about the long wait. Now almost 1:30 pm, we have to leave in about 10 minutes to get to the theatre, we decide to give up on our lunch, as even if we cancel the pizza it would still be 10 more minutes at least for our meals. We ended up buying a wrap at a bakery across the road and eating it as we walked to the theatre. This is ridiculous. One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever endured. I was embarrassed and felt badly for our group, as I had suggested this restaurant. I would NEVER go back there.
Have eaten here on a number of occasions and was underwhelmed by the menu choices and the food. The menu is tired and the food was uninspired. This place is not what it used to be.
I have always enjoyed Trattoria I find the food is excellent, the service exceeds my expectations...love the warm bread...
Suggestion... have the chef add some spices to the dipping sauce...
I did not get the name of our server BUT she was awesome... attentive, polite and very accommodating... lovely young lady...
We'll be back...
Impeccable service and friendly staff. Delicious menu.
It was a post theatre dinner for 4 ladies. Love coming to Trattoria Gusto, food is always good and service was excellent!
They have a special dinner theatre menu which we all 4 decided to have. It was definitely a good deal with appetizer, main course and desert.
The meal was finished off with delicious Lattes and Espressos.
We will all definitely be returning for our next theatre show in June!
Had the chicken parm, it was pretty darn good and the tuna app was great as well. Tried the custard desert, also amazing, waiter was fantastic and so was the lagavulin....gotta love a place that has my favorite scotch. They only had one cab sauv by the glass..Ironside....not Californias best effort. J Lohr or Mcmannis would have been nicer
We were looking for a restaurant where we could talk and not feel rushed but also had great food. We found it here!
We were there before our play at yhe capital theatre at 8. Excellent meals...the seafood linguini was fabulous. Our waiter , Dave was very nice, courteous, excellent service. We will definitely come back.
A girls night out with my daughter. She was in town for a visit, and this is our favourite place to go. It’s a very warm and calming ambiance. The staff was very nice and extremely efficient. I would highly recommend this place.
Always a good meal, good service and atmosphere! Never disappointed.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. have been before and will definitely return, every person we dealt with friendly and willing to help. fantastic night!
We had a lovely time the food was great the service was warm and inviting
Service, food and atmosphere were all lovely. We will be back.
A lovely experience. We enjoyed the food and the service. A great place that is reasonably
A tasty mix of flavours! Both my mom-in-law and I had fabulous meals, each with expected tastes with nice twists. My risotto had pumpkin squash mixed in, and my brownie sundae had a orange cream topping. Her dessert was a fabulous apple ricotta cake and she really appreciated the balance of sauce and veggies on her linguine.
Chef Matt has outdone himself with the new menu! I had the milk fed veal scallopini, herbed baby roast potatoes , rapini with a lemon caper sauce and it was outstandingly delicious ! My husband had the lobster bisque soup and the pasta feature which was equally stellar. Our server Madison was very friendly and efficient . Wonderful evening!
Great service & food...we had a very pleasant experience...Thank you!!
I require gluten-free with no cross-contamination. I was so impressed with the pasta as it is not boxed it is fresh (a first for me) and I loved it. I also had the beet and arugula salad - my favourite when I go there. Thanks for all your help with my anxiety about it being gluten-free.
Gusto can always be counted on for a great meal and attentive service. My only complaint is the noise level in the main dining room.
Awesome food and service
The best patio in the county hands down! Great food and wine, always good ❤️
We chose Gusto for Valentine's Day. Pros were: a quiet table not overly close to others; very friendly servers; effort to accommodate special requests and substitutions; really delicious food for all three "prix fixe" courses; mainly attentive service without being obtrusive; and prompt presentation of the bill when requested.
Cons were: waited nearly 15 minutes on arrival despite having a reservation without being offered a place to sit; slightly longer wait than it should have been to receive bread and then starters; vinegar/oil for bread never came; at least one starter selection was not available; tea light on the table left unlit until almost the end; cutlery not automatically replaced for second course; and chairs hard to sit on for 2 hours.
It was very nice - the room is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed the meal but recently had one of similar quality elsewhere in Port Hope for about 15% less. Nevertheless, the food speaks for itself; the logistics side of things merit some refinement though the points raised are offered as constructive criticism. They did not ruin the occasion or come anywhere close to doing so.
Trattoria Gusto staff was beyond amazing! Took the time & attention to ensure my selected “seat preference” was catered too! Food was delicious, wine selection terrific, ambiance is perfecto. #datenight delivered with perfection. With heartfelt gratitude. Will be a returning customer.
We asked for the table by the window with the comfy red chairs and they reserved that table for us. We were celebrating our anniversary and also we had just got married on Saturday, the surprised us with an amazing dessert and a candle. Our server Hailey was wonderful.
The food as always was very well prepared. The disappointment this time was the menu was recently changed. There are now less than half the main course dishes offered than in the past. Mostly pasta and pizza now. Even switching to several appetizers is not an option as than don’t offer selections that can make up a meal. Dessert was excellent as always.
Great food and location. Very friendly staff. Beautiful town.
It was a truly enjoyable evening had drink selections from the seasonal menu, Fantastic lamb carpaccio, the Cesar salad and portobello mushroom were very good. The mains were a bit slow coming out but we were quite happy to visit and enjoy our wine between dishes. Finished the evening with some birthday brownie and port. Congrats to the staff and kudos to the chef for his abundance of flavours in traditional Italian fair. Best beef Ragu I have ever had will definitely be back for seconds.
Gusto is coasting and needs to up its game. Should be menu changes more frequently. Its just okay; could be a lot better. There are better options in Port Hope now
We love this place and go at least once a month.
We booked this restaurant well in advance of New Year's eve as were staying in the hotel and attending theatre. We were informed upon our arrival that it would be a prix fixe menu at $65 per person, The service was slow (it was very busy). We both ordered the steak entrée. The meat probably needed a chain saw to saw through and was served atop watery overcooked potatoes and extremely undercooked broccolini. My dessert (pana cotta) was gross and I observed other diners quite literally sawing through their yule log.
An excellent 3 course New Years Eve meal with choices for every taste. Very artistically presented and tasty. Attentive service, with the only hiccup being one diners main being delayed due to it being delivered to another table. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience before attending the Capital Theatre.
