We have made dinner at Tratoria Grapalo an annual must-do date for dinner the night before the Wine Country Half marathon The food is great and the atmosphere conductive to conversation with out friends. A beautiful place to be when In Santa Inez
The food was outstanding as always.
Waiter served food way too fast (could not finish appetizers) and Serber missed order for decaf.
Fantastic food and service!
Seafood soup is amazing and soul is outstanding
Not many restaurants in the area, but this was casual, lots of food, and fast service.
The overall value was a bit on the high side for pasta. I had the sausages and bean
dish which was a nice portion of food. The sausages were good, but the beans were
a bit hard and lacked alot of flavor.
I was disappointed that I mentioned in my Open Table reservation that it was my
husband's birthday, and nothing was mentioned or done about it.
Had an unpleasant dining experience last Saturday. Restaurant very busy (perhaps should stagger reservations to lessen inpact). Food was not good (my pizza was inedible) our waiter actually walked away from me after asking for our wine selection. Won't be returning.
They made a veal marsala for me which is not on the menu and it was excellent. Very fresh vegetables and the veal was very tender.
As always great food and excellent service. We go often and always are treated well and are very comfortable. It is popular and can get a little noisy. Serving sizes are large so we split a dish and add soup or salad, or take home leftovers.
We have been going to this restaurant for years, and is the first time we rated it so low. The service made us feel we were just pushed us thru. The place was about 3/4 full yet we had poor , then rushed service. We felt like we were at a short order diner. Food was good as usual but the evening was ruined with the poor quality and no personality service. The owners were not there so we will give it another try when we know one of the brothers will be there. Definitely check before you go!
Food was good as always but the ambiance was terrible due to the high noise level and people being packed in like sardines.
The service was distracted at best because of being under staffed as usual.
This is the main reason we have not been back there in 5 years and we are locals.
Glad to have made reservation, despite being very crowded our table was held ( only one reserved). Bar seating overlooking the kitchen, I prefer that but we had another couple with us. Definitely will be back.
Absolutely delicious food. Friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. Lamb was off the charts, pizza was spot on. We've always had a great experience every time we visit. Highly recommended. DB
A winery recommended this restaurant during our stay in Los Olivos for two nights. My husband LOVES Chicken Marsala, and even though it wasn't on the menu, upon his request, the very nice waiter immediately acknowledged the chef would make it for him. David said it was the BEST he has ever had! The entire staff was hard-working, attentive and truly cared about our entire experience. It was evident why Grappolos came highly recommended and was filled with local regulars. Thanks so much for a memorable meal and evening 🙏❤👍
This was our second visit to Trattoria Grappolo. In both cases we found the food and service both to be excellent! The atmosphere is comfortable and energetic. The staff all seem to work as a team and enjoy it. It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the food being "created". My husband and I would both give this restaurant an A+!
Consistently good. Our go to for home style Italian cuisine.
Food was outstanding but our server made our dining experience truly unforgettable:)
We enjoy the quiet front porch. Linguine with lobster and vodka sauce is incredible!
Average food, high prices, and mediocre service. Will not be going back
Outstanding as always. Food is perfection. Ambience is warm and inviting. Overall A great experience.
I visit the area 3 times per year, I visit the restaurant 3 times per year. Never disappoints!!
Wonderful, as always!!
See you next month!
Food excellent A bit low on ambience but from of made up for that !
Our food was served cold. However the bread was great. I made reservations and were seated almost immediately.
The food was excellent. I had the sole piccata and my wife had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. Unfortunately, the service was about as bad as we have ever had. It was very busy as it was Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Week, For a Wednesday night it is possibly a bit busier than normal. However, even though it was pretty chaotic, they never recovered, or at least acknowledged, their mistakes. The tables in the main dining room are very close together so be prepared to hear everyone's conversation. The patio is a little more spacious. There is also a kitchen bar in front of the brick oven that might make for an interesting dining location. We will give them another look since the food was excellent and see if this visit was an aberration.
We were able to sit out on the covered and heated patio which is always our first choice. Inside the Resteraunts atmosphere can be noisy. The food was delicious and we partook in the 2017 Resteraunts menu. The sole was a generous portion and the pan a cotta was delicious. Service is always exceptional. This is one of our favorite places to dine.
Food was just ok. Perhaps we didn't order the right/signature items but there was nothing that stood out positively other than portion size and presentation. Risotto with asparagus and sausage. If not for the sausage, would have been flavorless. Sausage was very good though. Seafood pasta: would have liked more sauce, bland flavor. Dessert was good: spumoni, apple tart with ice cream. Service was good, ambience nice, perfect noise level (not loud or noticeable). When we arrived there was a mixup with prior arrivals, we ended up getting lumped in with a group having been offered a free glass of wine. We wanted to like this place and were looking forward to Italian food but it was a dissapointment in the flavor area.
Persistent issue with lukewarm food arriving at table. This time it was all the vegetables; last time it was the meatballs. Portions are huge and much of the food is delicious.
Basics: bread was excellent. Seafood soup was excellent. Coffee was not impressive.
First time there and did not have chance to try many dishes but very promising. Will visit again next time in that area.
Wonderful, delicious everything! Ambiance and their team make it that much more enjoyable!
Absolute MUST if you visit Santa Ynez! Outstanding cuisine and service!
Consistently great food in a warm atmosphere with a friendly and professional staff. The Owner is actively involved and it results in an outstanding experience.
Every time we come, it's amazing. This last time was probably the best. Best Italian food outside of Italy.
We had very high expectations, based on the recommendation of a friend; it was loud and the food mediocre. Nice staff, but other than the hostess and one busboy not very personal. There are better places to spend time, calories and money.
Noisy, small restaurant, but don't let that throw you! Great homemade pasta, I had the spinach tortellini. Buttery tasting with a great, light sauce. My wife had the pressed chicken; also very good! House wines are made for the restaurant; very good! Make a reservation, because bar is very small overlooking the kitchen. There is a saloon next door if you want to drink there while waiting for your table. A great dining experience!
The food here is consistently great! The pasta dishes are wonderful. We had the linguini vongole and the burrata appetizer. Both were great! The linguini vongole had great flavor and was a little spicy just how I like it. The burrata was soft and fresh and came on a beautiful bed of arugula. It had a very farm to to table feel. Great local wines to choose from and a very genuinely friendly staff makes this place extra special. It feels very homey and the type of place that locals definitely go to.
Food normally is good but Unfortunately our order took over an hour and a half to get to our table and the lasagnas were lukewarm by the time we got them. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. Usually, the service is much better. I have been to this restaurant over 30 times and this is the first time I was disappointed. I will count this as an off night for this restaurant but I will be back.
Outstanding....food, service, environment; it was Christmas Eve and everyone was in a festive mood.
Wonderful dinner; we travel to Italy often and this was as close to real Italian as we have found on the Central Coast. Varied and interesting menu; good service; great food. Will return often.
Consistently outstanding. Good food, good wine, good service.
We really enjoyed the incredible food and service. Everybody's meal was so delicious, we definitely will be going back.
Good food & service! Comfortable seating but warm in the patio.
