Trattoria Grappolo Ratings and Reviews
Not many restaurants in the area, but this was casual, lots of food, and fast service.
The overall value was a bit on the high side for pasta. I had the sausages and bean
dish which was a nice portion of food. The sausages were good, but the beans were
a bit hard and lacked alot of flavor.
I was disappointed that I mentioned in my Open Table reservation that it was my
husband's birthday, and nothing was mentioned or done about it.
Had an unpleasant dining experience last Saturday. Restaurant very busy (perhaps should stagger reservations to lessen inpact). Food was not good (my pizza was inedible) our waiter actually walked away from me after asking for our wine selection. Won't be returning.
We have been going to this restaurant for years, and is the first time we rated it so low. The service made us feel we were just pushed us thru. The place was about 3/4 full yet we had poor , then rushed service. We felt like we were at a short order diner. Food was good as usual but the evening was ruined with the poor quality and no personality service. The owners were not there so we will give it another try when we know one of the brothers will be there. Definitely check before you go!
Food was good as always but the ambiance was terrible due to the high noise level and people being packed in like sardines.
The service was distracted at best because of being under staffed as usual.
This is the main reason we have not been back there in 5 years and we are locals.
A winery recommended this restaurant during our stay in Los Olivos for two nights. My husband LOVES Chicken Marsala, and even though it wasn't on the menu, upon his request, the very nice waiter immediately acknowledged the chef would make it for him. David said it was the BEST he has ever had! The entire staff was hard-working, attentive and truly cared about our entire experience. It was evident why Grappolos came highly recommended and was filled with local regulars. Thanks so much for a memorable meal and evening 🙏❤👍
This was our second visit to Trattoria Grappolo. In both cases we found the food and service both to be excellent! The atmosphere is comfortable and energetic. The staff all seem to work as a team and enjoy it. It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the food being "created". My husband and I would both give this restaurant an A+!
The food was excellent. I had the sole piccata and my wife had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. Unfortunately, the service was about as bad as we have ever had. It was very busy as it was Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Week, For a Wednesday night it is possibly a bit busier than normal. However, even though it was pretty chaotic, they never recovered, or at least acknowledged, their mistakes. The tables in the main dining room are very close together so be prepared to hear everyone's conversation. The patio is a little more spacious. There is also a kitchen bar in front of the brick oven that might make for an interesting dining location. We will give them another look since the food was excellent and see if this visit was an aberration.
We were able to sit out on the covered and heated patio which is always our first choice. Inside the Resteraunts atmosphere can be noisy. The food was delicious and we partook in the 2017 Resteraunts menu. The sole was a generous portion and the pan a cotta was delicious. Service is always exceptional. This is one of our favorite places to dine.
Food was just ok. Perhaps we didn't order the right/signature items but there was nothing that stood out positively other than portion size and presentation. Risotto with asparagus and sausage. If not for the sausage, would have been flavorless. Sausage was very good though. Seafood pasta: would have liked more sauce, bland flavor. Dessert was good: spumoni, apple tart with ice cream. Service was good, ambience nice, perfect noise level (not loud or noticeable). When we arrived there was a mixup with prior arrivals, we ended up getting lumped in with a group having been offered a free glass of wine. We wanted to like this place and were looking forward to Italian food but it was a dissapointment in the flavor area.
Noisy, small restaurant, but don't let that throw you! Great homemade pasta, I had the spinach tortellini. Buttery tasting with a great, light sauce. My wife had the pressed chicken; also very good! House wines are made for the restaurant; very good! Make a reservation, because bar is very small overlooking the kitchen. There is a saloon next door if you want to drink there while waiting for your table. A great dining experience!
The food here is consistently great! The pasta dishes are wonderful. We had the linguini vongole and the burrata appetizer. Both were great! The linguini vongole had great flavor and was a little spicy just how I like it. The burrata was soft and fresh and came on a beautiful bed of arugula. It had a very farm to to table feel. Great local wines to choose from and a very genuinely friendly staff makes this place extra special. It feels very homey and the type of place that locals definitely go to.
Food normally is good but Unfortunately our order took over an hour and a half to get to our table and the lasagnas were lukewarm by the time we got them. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. Usually, the service is much better. I have been to this restaurant over 30 times and this is the first time I was disappointed. I will count this as an off night for this restaurant but I will be back.
