Since the pandemic, there is now outdoor curbside seating with lovely mountain and sunset views. The food is spectacular but most of all our dog can now enjoy sitting outside with us. Even dogs need a night out every once in a while!
Authentic Italian in a cozy space. Friendly service.
I hadn't been to this spot since before Covid, but friends were visiting from out of town and remembered our meal here in the past. It was worth the drive from Novato. I was delighted to find the quality had not suffered due to the pandemic. The food was as superb as we had remembered it, and Marco was his usual gracious, friendly self. A gem of a local trattoria.
This was my second visit to Trattoria Fresco and what a wonderful experience. Marco provided excellent service. He was attentive and engaging. The food was spectacular and his selection of Italian wines was great and affordable. We had the amazing wild boar lasagna and fennel salad, which was a true flashback to dinner in Florence. The lasagna melted in my mouth with a bouquet of amazing flavors. The house bread which is made on-site was also delicious great taste and texture. Since we are still in a pandemic I will mention that I felt safe, and observed good hygiene practices by other guests and the owner. The availability of space heaters, since we are still dining outdoors , made for a pleasant evening. Grazie Mille 👏 Counting the days until our next reservation.
Excellent outdoor service during COVID. Personal service and attention to detail was appreciated. Food was fresh and I highly recommend their unique crunchy-crust pizzas. One of the beat pizzas in Marin. Great night out!
Very well prepared Italian food. Fresh ingredients, and great flavor.
This place is a real find. Marco, owner/chef does it right! I'm so glad he weathered the storm. Hope he is around for years.
Marco is a fabulous chef!
Incredibly good experience every time we go there. This is a food lovers place. The dishes range from innovative to classic Italian but are always incredibly fresh, creative and thoughtful. You get very personal service from the chef and owner who clearly cares about bringing the absolute highest quality ingredients and cooking to bear. Also a fantastic wine list. Tonight we had a wine from Sardinia that was delicious and very well paired with the incredibly fresh fish we had. This is one of the greatest small restaurants in Marin if not the greatest. A+.
Awesome meal
Marco has set up tables & umbrellas outside on the sidewalk. In fact, I enjoy eating outside more than I did inside. Lovely view of the Ross Common park in front.
I was so happy to see that they had outdoor dining as I am so tired of takeout. They had several pasta dishes that looked great. I had the arrabiata and it was excellent. I would definitely return.
Availability of what was on the menu was quite limited, and the pasta we had was mediocre. It was nice sitting on the sidewalk in front, and the waiter did try and give us a good experience, but given distancing and all it was difficult.
Lovely restaurant that I've wanted to try for years. Very quiet and cozy...a perfect setting to meet a small number of friends for dinner.
Excellent dinner as usual. Marco's preparations are always very tasty, fresh and worth the visit to Ross. Love his recommendations for both food and wine. Definitely will be back soon.
Everything we want in a restaurant: authentic, fresh, handmade food, excellent and fairly priced wines, a convivial neighborhood atmosphere. This is exactly the restaurant you want in your neighborhood, to visit again and again. Never disappointed.
Our reservation was close to the kitchen’s close for lunch. Would have been nice to have that info before finalizing the reservation time. The service staff did not rush us out, but did need to order and eat more quickly than we would have liked.
Was like eating in Tuscany. High quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Have been there before and wondered why I haven’t gone back lately but surely will.
We love Marco’s cooking!
I love this place - small, intimate, and amazing food in a down to earth restaurant. Marco does an incredible job and I always feel like I get a great meal at an affordable price. It's like having home cooked Italian food in a friend's home.
I've been eating at Marco's restaurant for twenty years and the standard of the cuisine and the service have been unfailingly excellent. On a recent visit, my daughter and I shared a crisp salad with a tangy dressing, followed by cinghiale (wild boar ragu and ribbon pasta) and a deceptively simple Margherita pasta. Great flavors, fresh ingredients made for a satisfying meal for two. Get there early and ask for the window seat!
Great food cooked to order with fresh homemade pasta
Sweet and simple little place in Ross. We went for lunch and the food was very nice, but in the end it seemed a bit expensive. They have a very limited menu for lunch, but we did enjoy the trout pasta and a snapper flatbread sandwich. I'd try TF for dinner, but not sure I'd return for lunch.
great food and service even tho chef was forced to fill in for absent server
Great food
I can't believe I haven't tried this little gem of a restaurant before. I truly loved the food!
Another outstanding meal. Just a wonderful neighborhood gem. The eggplant/burrata appetizer was as tasty as anything I have had at any restaurant this year
Always excellent food in a cozy little trattoria just like one you might find in a Tuscan hill town.
Outstanding food and service every time. Best Italian food in Marin.
The restaurant was very busy, the owner and staff busy and short handed. The service was exceptional under the circumstances. The food was delicious, we will return.

lovely, superb service and food....just a little TOO noisy when full
We had dinner on Christmas Eve. We like the intimacy of the restaurant. The place is quaint, you can carry on a conversation, the owner and his son are helpful with recommendations, the food is fresh and delicious. We go here when we want a good Italian meal. It is a good any day restaurant.
A bit overpriced for the amount of food served. Sockeye salmon was goo, but it is sockeye, not king.
Brought the wrong entree for my husband. Food was abate average, service poor, and we didn’t get our points on open table...🙁
We're coming back! We had a wonderful meal, start to finish. Everything was simple, but top-notch. Lots of pasta choices and the two we had were great. And the chocolate mousse was heavenly.
Last night we had dined at this restaurant and again loved it. We had decided to sit outside and itfelt like we were in Italy. The food is absolutely outstanding (everything is fresh & homemade) and we will return again.
We spilled a full glass of water at the beginning of the meal and wiped it up with the help of our charming waiter. Suddenly the owner appeared at our table, and without a word to us, angrily shoved a chair aside, and made a huge production out of mopping up the floor, then slammed the wooden chair down and stormed off. He continued to be rude to us to the point of absurdity! Warning to future diners - don’t mess up!
We loved it. Enjoyed the menu and servers. We will definitely return.
freaking amazing as always - love Marco's! The food, the ambiance, the lovely town of Ross. Can't beat it. Will be back in a week or two -
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We went early so it was quiet. We were taken care of very well. It is a local, authentic homemade pasta type of place.
We split the Romano(Caesar) which was a light Caesar dressing and it was tasty. We both had pasta. The spaghetti with meatballs and the spicy shrimp pasta with olive oil and garlic. Both were very robusto and tasty. We would recommend this small, lovely neighborhood gem.
