Trattoria Divina Ratings and Reviews
We were very pleased with our meal at Trattoria Divina. We had the caprese salad as a starter and the tomatoes and mozzarella were fresh and the portions generous. It was plenty for two people. My wife had the lobster stuffed ravioli and I had pappardelle in Bolognese sauce. Both of our meals were served hot and were delicious. A great meal. The service was perfect. We were also given a small glass of champagne as a welcome as well as an apple and goat cheese appetizer. They were a nice touch. The restaurant staff made us feel welcome and we thought they would go the extra mile to give us superior service.
2nd consequetive year visit for our family to this fine restaurant. It's more upscale than the typical resort Italian restaurant, but not so much so. Great attention to service here, and the food is remarkably tasty. It's more northern Italian fare so you won't find something like chicken parm on the menu. But, we sampled many dishes and every one was creative and good. Highly recommend giving this place a try.
Unfortunately,Trattoria sits next door to a smelly cigar shop and the smell of cigars comes throught the walls. Apparently the cigar shop doesn't believe in ventilation. But in the dining area opposite the cigar shop, there is no odor at all. So just ask to be seated to the right when you come in and all is good. You will enjoy some wonderful and authentic Italian if you do that. Of course if for some reason you enjoy smelly cigars, sitting to the left is a bonus!
After living here for over 4 years I kick myself for not discovering this gem any sooner. By far the BEST food you'll ever have!! The service is unbelievable. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel important. We continue to go back every chance we get. Love love love the owners! Very involved and treat you like family!
Food and service were very good. However, strong smoke odor from the cigar bar next door, we actually moved tables to the other side of restaurant. Nice decor & atmosphere, place closes down early, good neighborhood place to eat. Smoke odor is a problem though, hope they can do something about that.
I will try and summarize our dinner experience as concisely as possible.
Our server, Leah, was top notch.
We began with Brie and Granny Smith apple slices. Very nice.
Next was salad with Fresh mozzarella and tomatoes & a balsamic glaze. Excellent.
Our wine was a Beringer (Cabernet-I believe it was $51) the wine was delicious. Our disappointment was the high pricing and lack of choices in the moderate cost range.
We shared our entree that was a pasta with shrimp and scallops. The sauce seemed very heavy and lacked the spicy taste stated it had on the menu. Unfortunately I only ate a couple of bites. On a positive note the split portions were more than generous.
We ordered two desserts but one was forgotten. We asked about it and an apology was offered and the dessert delivered immediately.
We live on the island and have visited you several times and most likely will return. We typically don't "write off" a restaurant because of one disappointing experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read my comments and will take the as intended. (Constructive criticism.)
We have always enjoyed this establishment. The welcome with a touch of Prosecco is a nice touch. There is a good variety on the menu and specials, the food is well prepared and of an appropriate serving size. The service was good and the noise level manageable.
I worked at an authentic pasta restaurant for 2 years a few years back; I know good, authentic Italian pasta. Trattoria Divina has that and more. It's a bit fancy, which was nice, as we were having a girls' night out. I had the Ravioli di Aragosta (Lobster ravioli) and it was absolutely outstanding. The tiramisu - made in house - is a MUST. I have never had tiramisu like it. Such phenomenal food. The service left just a little to be desired, but the food was so outstanding that it honestly didn't faze me too much. This is a must if you're in Hilton Head and want a nice evening out.
The ambiance is nice here, its small and local. Service was attentive and pleasant but the food was iffy. One member of our group had the catch of the day and another pasta with scallops; both thought their meals were very good. Another had shrimp with risotto; the risottos seems to be just rice. and the fourth had chicken saltimbocca which was dry and tasteless. For the prices charged it should be better.
Grabbed a last minute reservation for a Saturday evening for myself and my family - including 3 teenagers. Incredible service. Very good food that really shows the pride the chef takes in his creations. Hint: Saturday night is actually one of the quieter nights since this is when many weekly rentals turnover in the area.
I found the service to be pretty good, the only problem was waiting for the check. Otherwise, the waiter was quite attentive. He commented on the fact it was our 10th anniversary and brought us champagne and a free tiramisu dessert decorated with "Happy Anniversary" which was quite romantic and nice. The food was good- the pasta was incredibly fresh and overall a good meal. I was disappointed however in the taste of the inside of the ravioli- it was a butternut squash dish and I didn't taste the squash over the other ingredients at all. Because I love this dish so much I ordered it over fresh seafood, I feel I made a serious mistake. However, the menu did describe the dish as having other ingredients besides squash in the dish so perhaps I should have paid more attention to that.
this was our second visit during our Hilton head Island vacation trip and it was just as good as our first! The food was outstanding our waitress was incredible and we would recommend this to anyone. The only feedback I would give the restaurant for improvement would be to address the musty smell that you experience when you first walk into the restaurant.
Food was outstanding. Delicious homemade pasta, mozzarella & sauces made to order. Shrimp & scallops were cooked perfectly. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious. Service was fabulous - knowledgable about the wine list, provided great recommendations on food and was very personable & friendly. Only complaint (if there had to be one) was that they didn't have cannoli's. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves Italian & great pasta.
I understand that in a resort area such as Hilton Head that good restaurants are to be found in unlikely locations including a strip shopping area. However, while the food was great, having to walk by local derelicts on smoke breaks from a seedy bar next door did take away part of the enjoyment.
Because we had a "view," from out table, it was difficult to ignore the street theater. I DO recommend this place but ask for a table far back in the restaurant.
Fabulous dinner with my husband and two kids on a repeat visit. Were greeted with toasts of prosecco (and flutes of sprite for the kiddos!). After placing our order we received a yummy amuse of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and balsamic. We ordered a Cesare and Calamari to start. Delicious homemade dressing and anchovies on top of the romaine wedges.
For dinner I had the capesante a la divina (DELICIOUS) and the saltimbocca di pollo, which was really impressive seeing as we typically skip ordering chicken out. Very savory and satisfying. My daughter had a custom request, to which they obliged happily. Seared scallops cooked to perfection with a side of sautéed mushrooms and green beans. Our littlest one has many allergies and they were very accommodating. He went for the ultimate kids dish of spaghetti with marinara (with gluten free noodles), which was a nice treat for him. Entire staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about both food and wine.
We have dined more than once here and we will be back!
I went to Trattoria Divina with my fiance for a special night out. The meal was outstanding! Starting with the complimentary champagne, then to the mini-app (also complimentary), and the bread with their own home-made hummus, the initial impression was warm and welcoming. I felt like the chef was proud to have us in his restaurant. When our appetizer and meal came, we were not disappointed! Plenty of seafood was included with the pasta and risotto dishes.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL!
Service was terrific, prompt and courteous. of the 3 in our party, we each had something different and each was terrific, but we all thought the lobster ravioli was the best. We also had the mussels for a starter and i could have made a meal with them and the bread.
Definitely will come back ext trip to HHI.
Dominick was our waiter. Ask for him, it's worth it. Great personality, although to be fair , every staff member we encountered was really nice and well trained. The hostess made us feel welcome the second we opened the door . The complimentary glass of prose co with an amuse bouche were a really nice touch and somehow added a lot to our experience. Our apps were the mussels and a salad. Entrees were the lobster and shrimp and the Chilean sea bass , which while expensive was well worth it. Excellent cuisine! Berries and fresh cream for dessert .. All round we give it a strong recommendation !
One of the best Italian dinners we've ever had. Definitely try the asparagus appetizer - delicious. Save room for the tiramisu - incredible. The entire staff was wonderful especially Dominick our waiter. Will definitely be back next time we travel to Hilton Head.
This was a regular place for me about a year ago. Moved to the North End of the Island and it became "out of sight-out of mind" (yes I know the Island is only 12 miles long) so I came here Monday with a friend that had never experienced Chef Lee's magic. Nothing has changed so the experience was outstanding. I was greeted back by Chef Lee and the staff as an old friend ... The seating was perfect ... The small starters to welcome you to the restaurant were still presented... And oh, the fresh hot bread and hummus were dangerous ...
The house special organic caprese salad was a perfect blend of red and yellow tomatoes with cheese that melted in your mouth. Dinners were the ravioli in a light wine and artichoke sauce and Chef Lee's scampi ... beautiful encrusted shrimp over lobster risotto... The wine list is excellent and we selected a sauvignon blanc that worked perfectly. Desert was the house tiramisu that was heavenly light with home made gelato.
Wow ... After a year absence I forgot how much I love that place and Chef Lee's cooking and all of the wonderful staff that remind me so much of a small neighborhood place in Italy.
