Trattoria Diane is a Roman-style, family-run restaurant. We have developed our menu and space to reflect the casual, inviting and friendly spots we have enjoyed on our trips to the Eternal City. The menu offers our take on the traditional Roman menu with its verdure, fritti, antipasto, primi and secondi.
Chef/Owner John Durkin prides himself on maintaining a standard of excellence that has put us on the top of fine dining on Long Island. Come wine & dine where you can enjoy
vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce
Chocolate Mousse Pie
chocolate cookie crust, whipped cream
The very best of Italian cuisine at affordable prices and served by experienced delightful waitstaff. This locally owned restaurant is the pride of Roslyn throughout the year. And, don't forget there's the North Shore's finest bakery, Diane's Bakery, its next door neighbor and owned by the same family. Go and enjoy the very best!!
great food, excellent service and they treated us well
Diane’s has solid American food. Nothing will blow you away but you will walk out satisfied and it will be in your restaurant rotation.
Food was just perfect. We had the prawns with lemon risotto and crispy duck it was delicious.
Very generous drinks and service was friendly and attentive.
It was my wife’s birthday. and it was the perfect place. Food was great service was very professional.
Will go back
Beware of menu bait and switch. I checked price fix menu the day we were dining to make sure we all wanted to go there. But when we got there all seafood was removed as well as other dishes. Couldn't find things to order but we were there so we stayed. It took 90 minutes to get our entrees which finally came out lukewarm. Service was poor and unfriendly.
TOO LOUD. Pasta ice cold. Shrimp over cooked.
The menu online was completely different than the one in the restaurant. The waitress barely spoke English. When trying to pay with MasterCard, waitress says the restaurant does not take that brand. Had to call manager who then says the card didn’t go through. He tried again and it worked. The ice cream was 11 dollars and had no taste.
Advertised menu was not what was offered upon arrival
Portions too small.
Food was very good. Service was very good. Chocolate mousse
Pie is to die for
Service was great. Food excellent. Prices very high for the portions. We did not like being seated in the room upstairs with the wicker chairs which were extremely uncomfortable and the room was cold had no life and no kind of ambiance. We were disappointed to say the least.
Great food and service. A neighborhood gem
I am so glad we gave this restaurant another shot- the food was delicious and the service was attentive- even though it was Valentines Day- of course then there are those amazing deserts . We didn’t have that same experience the last time— hopefully that was just an “off” night— we will be back!
Wonderful meal and excellent service, even though it was Valentine's day and the place was packed. Staff is particularly welcoming and accommodating, which follows, since Diane herself is as gracious a host as one could imagine. I'm afraid that recommending it so highly likely will make it even harder to get a reservation on that special night you need just the right setting for a near-perfect romantic dinner, but this is, indeed, that place.
staff was very accommodating, nice seating, very punctual service.
food was delicious, The Buratta app was excellent,The grilled octopus salad was the same.
main-Crispy duck, done to perfection. and the veal chop so tender !
dessert- I recommend the Coconut cake with vanilla ice cream or the chocolate brownie with Banana ice cream!!
very nice place very comfortable setting....Lets go again!@!!
This was my first visit here and I was very impressed. We went early at 6 and were taken upstairs where there are 2 small dining areas. The service was excellent with no rush from the staff. The food was very good.
Absolutely top shelf--as always! Elegant, delectable, spectacular...thank you!
We made reservations for restaurant week. There was nothing to indicate that it ended at 7:00. The only res they had was 8:30 which we took. We were told when we were seated that they were no longer serving for restaurant week very disappointing and deceptive. Had it been just my husband and I, we would have left.
First of all it was Restaurant Week and our 8:00 reservation did not qualify for the discount. I find it very disingenuous to place a cut off on the timing- if you are participating in Restaurant Week than do it sincerely.
Service is good. Wait staff is friendly.
My portebello mushroom appetizer was very good. The special of short ribs was tender but lacked very much taste albeit red wine. They failed to bring bread to our table until we asked after our appetizers were served. I don’t know that I would go back.
I am always satisfied with the quality and preparation of the food. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone and I have numerous times.
Should be told when making a reservation that seating is upstairs and that one needs to use a flashlight to read a menu.
The food was heavily salted-not a good thing.Michelle my waitress and the bus boys were wonderful!
We went during restaurant week to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. I heard the food was good, but it was just average. Thru also forgot to put a candle on the cake. Glad I brought one. The staff was good but i was very disappointed with the food.
My husband and I are big fans of Dianes Bakery next door and decided to try their restaurant. The service and quality of food is as excellent as their Bakery. It is a great place for date night or any occasion for great conversation among two or more people .
One of our "frequent visit" restaurants. Very good overall. Highly recommend, especially during the Summer when you can sit outside.
We were there for restaurant week.
There were a lot of selections to choose from. Everybody enjoyed their meals and it was an excellent experience. I especially enjoyed the berry pie dessert!
If you don't mind being rushed and eating quality food, this is the place
already sent a review to trip advisor will definetly go back again staff very friendly and caring lots of parking and valet parking is available honors reservations nice menu with some really good specials prices are mid range service is very good and no rush to eat and run
It was awesome and memorable as always.
Warm thanks to Jimmy and his team for their commitment to excellence!
took mom for the first time and she enjoyed it very much. the food was outstanding, the service was very good. the margaritas are impeccable.
No complaints; seated promptly; food plated well. We were all pleased with our choices.
Nice neighborhood restaurant great for dinner with friends. Upscale atmosphere. Noise level OK and better than many other crowded restaurants on Long Island. Service perfectly fine. Food was better than average and portion size was moderate but not outstanding so I give it a 4 star rating overall.
Great food. Meal paced properly. Service wasn't awesome but they tried. The waitresses have no personalities. The food is definitely better than service. We had a long table so larger parties who want round might do better elsewhere.
Excellent food and service, and even better desert menu. Everything fresh and tasty. Interesting Italian menu, with a different than usual variety
Birthday for a friend
Diane's is always a winner, a fantastic dining experience for a fair price. Loyal, longterm managers and waitstaff make this a most interesting restaurant for a great meal or an event, or both!
Top quality food and excellent service. Somewhat pricey, but easily an Epicurean delight!
Eat at Diane's 1-2 a month and haven't been disappointed in the service, quality of food, of overall dining experience. Can be a bit hectic on weekends but during the week it is generally quiet. Like the Italian dishes but when I want something like comfort food their meat dishes are good (not like a steakhouse with massive portions but well prepared).
Side dishes could use some reworking; real french fries or onion rings would be welcome. Bread should be warmed.
Of course, excellent desserts as befitting a restaurant owned by a pastry chef with bakery next door. BUT WHEN WILL THERE BE A LAYER CAKE!!
