Had to wait 45 min past my reservation time but other than that everything was great
Changed since the last time I was there a few years ago. More for the younger set now. LOUD. Couldn't have a good conversation.
Nice place to grab some food in the north end. Comfortable setting with great food.
Consistently wonderful! Loved the gnocchi with lamb, sweet potato gnocchi with sausage and the black squid ink pasta with scallops!
Me and the wife went for our anniversary, it was splendid. Alexis was a treat, our food was delicious and the service was even better! Can’t wait to come back soon.
Great food. Recommended by Boston food tour guide.
Fabulous food and atmosphere. I would highly recommend.
We both had the lobster pasta special. It was excellent. My wife normally doesn’t like tomato cream sauces but this one was exceptional . Great wines by the glass. Service was enthusiastic if a bit confused - but they made everything right. Kind of noisy as well. But the food was sooo good.
Best place to eat food in the North End! Won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend the Lamb Rack.
Although we had a nice experience at dinner and the food was very good I felt the prices were way too high. Also the alcoholic beverages were of poor quality. Not what I expected at the Northend.
Food was fine- nothing special and too expensive for what it was
I was in town for business. This was a wonderful place to eat. Food and service were outstanding
Great service when they were very crowded. Wonderful place.
We were looking forward to going to Monicas to celebrate our Anniversary. We ordered the burrata spinach appetizer which was amazing. Our meals however we very disappointing. My husband ordered the calamari special and I had bolognese pasta. The calamari dish was extremely oily and had six small calamari rings. My dish was all sauce with very little meat. Prices were high for the dishes we had. $30 for pasta and six calamari rings! Disappointing but we will try again sometime.
Very pleasant North End Restaurant. Very Clean. Courses nicely paced. Large Portions. Would recommend salads that are a little bit smaller and with a little more dressing. Everyone in our group of 4 enjoyed their meal.
Service not very attentive
The noise was incredible and the service was slow. The salads did not come out together, and the pasta was OK. Not terrible, but not worth the price.
Really enjoyed the menu! Flavors/spices could be a little stronger, but I know that's not everyone's taste. The ambiance was very much like a busy family dining room, would love to go back again with friends soon :)
The Caprese was incredible I could have ordered two and had it alone for dinner and the Linguini con Vongole in white garlic sauce was memorable. Definitely going back.
Came here many times now, always great food and service.
Pre-theater dinner. Entrees were very good (mushroom ravioli, spaghetti with clams). Salads and desserts OK.
Overpriced hot and they cram you in. Food was mediocre and the price too high. Extremely noisy. I think food is pre cooked.
Food is still delicious but missed the initiate ambiance that this place had before they renovated and expanded. Drinks were tasty and service was good.
This restaurant was quite the find! The food was fresh and flavourful, the service was attentive, and the experience was efficient and left us wanting to return.
As usual, the food was very good and we left very satisfied. It was, however, very hot and uncomfortable where we were sitting. When first entering the restaurant, it was cool, but it didn’t seem like the AC flowed evenly throughout the restaurant. I love the ambiance but our water was not refreshed and that would have helped with the hot temps.
Monica’s is my favorite place in the North End. Literally everything there is amazing. As a normally quick-decision person, I am at a loss on choosing what to eat at Monica’s because I know I can’t go wrong.
Great food and good service.
Very noisy at start, then many people left and it got better.
Absolutely love the food here - especially the sweet potato gnocchi. Would recommend to anyone
Nice spot in the North End for authentic Italian food.
The air conditioning was not working when my family and I visited, but Monica’s our out lots of fans to try to make their patrons comfortable. The food was delicious! Overall, we had a great experience and would go back.
Good Central to southern Italian but not quite up to the reviews. The staff was cordial and friendly but not very knowledgeable. Staffing was not what one expects from a venue that is trying to create a more realistic experience. The antipasto was not unique or exciting, and it appeared to b an attempt to make up for the poor meat quality by spicing it too much. The cheese part of the antipasto was literally one cheese sliced in square to make it look grocery store-like. The taste matched. Nothing resembling what one would expect from an authentic Italian experience
Great food. Only real complaint was no kids menu.
My parmigiana was good but the mussels we ordered didn't taste too fresh.
An overall excellent meal. Antipasto starter was outstanding for 3 people. All 3 entrees were delicious and fresh (chicken marsala, 4 cheese ravioli, veal pizzaiola), good price range for wine (we chose the Vermentino). Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. We left the place smiling and happy. Will come again.
We had a wonderful dinner at Monica’s!! We make reservations for this restaurant any time we are in Boston! The food is delicious and the service is excellent. If you are looking for a quiet restaurant... you may want to go elsewhere...but if you’re looking for great food and terrific service...Monica’s is the place!
The food was amazing ... the atmosphere was beautiful! We felt like we were in Italy! Our server was the sweetest!
Had a reservation was 12 min late due to traffic. And then they put us on a wait list. Had to wait 25 min since we were a little tardy. Very loud place. Hard to have a conversation w a group.
Monica's Trattoria is like many North End Restaurants; small and noisy...this is to be expected. We had 7:30 reservations on a June Saturday night. Though extremely crowded the hostess went out of her way to make us comfortable and honor our reservations. We were seated by 7:30. The serving staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. I have eaten in many North End restaurants over the years and this was one of the finest entrees I have been served. We plan on returning in the fall when things will not be as hectic to enjoy another fabulous meal.
We had a perfect anniversary dinner here. I had noted “Anniversary” in the reservation and they placed us at a gorgeous table for two right in the window. The bruschetta had the most delicious heirloom tomatoes we had ever tasted, the Cabernet Sauvignon we drank was perfect, and we each loved our entrees. My partner got sweet potato gnocchi with sausage and broccoli rabe, and I ordered the chicken Marsala. Both were delicious and generous portion sizes. The service was quick but we didn’t feel rushed. We’ve now found our new special occasion spot!
The food was excellent and the service was very prompt
