Great place for kids, fast service.
Italian crusty bread should always be served with a salad to complete the entree. Portofino is like being in Italy, but I never had a meal in ITALY WITHOUT BREAD!
Great food and Andre was a awesome server
We took a group of 6 including 2 small children and the food choices were terrific the staff was friendly and everything was very clean and fresh
Excelent food and outstanding service!
Not to mention the beautiful spaces of the hotel
We went to celebrate my husband and We absolutely loved it!
The service was excellent but the prices are high and the food is mediocre. This is generally true of most Universal restaurants.
Great food, great location
Pasta bar was ok and the best option if you want food more quickly. It took over an hour to receive an entree of salmon ordered from the menu. The restaurant is poorly run. Definitely will not return or recommend.
Amazing food and great atmosphere! We loved sitting outside by the water.
This restaurant is much better suited to family fun than an adult date. Kids running around and we were seated right next to the pasta bar - hard to carry on a conversation.
The hostess was friendly and asked if we preferred to dine inside or outside. We were promptly seated outside and the wait staff was quick to take our dinner order. Bread was delivered to our table and our water glasses were refilled once before our entrees arrived. The entrees arrived after a 30 minute wait and the wait staff disappeared from that point on. We finished our meal in less than an hour and finally had to go settle the check with the hostess. Our waiter was inside waiting on other guests and did apologize when he saw me with the hostess. We loved the hotel but were disappointed with the service at this onsite dining option.
Excellent fun evening. Good food and great service
Had breakfast only at Trattoria del Porto at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. We made a reservation but none was needed. We were sat right at the reservation time. We had a choice of buffet breakfast or off the menu. We choose off the menu. We ordered 2 egg, hash brown, meat and toast entree and also ordered the pancakes with banana and biscuits & gravy. All dishes were hot, presented nicely and tasted fresh. I was happy to see that they just didn't go to the buffet and grab the items needed for our meals. We also ordered a bloody mary to start the day, tasty and just the right amount of spice. If I would ever stay at this hotel again, I would definitely grab breakfast there again. Trattoria del Porto did a fine job, thanks.
The restaurant was amazing with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately one of my son's came down with sun stroke so did not get to enjoy the pasta bar experience to it's fullest but overall an amazing restaurant.
Excellent service very attentive. Buffet was extremely above average
Great for my sons 8th birthday with face painting and balloon artist. A special dessert serenaded by wait staff. They knew how to make my crew feel special.
We sat outside and the setting could not be lovelier. The food was really good, but nothing exciting or noteworthy. The service was... OK. Everyone was very friendly and enthusiastic—except for our waiter.
Food was good but the restaurant was not what we expected...it was more like a cafeteria. Overall it wasn’t bad if your looking for a quick bite to eat at a pasta buffet.
Restaurant looked very nice when walking in. 1st thing that happened, was that waitress spilled water pitcher all over our table, so we had to move tables.
My family chose the pasta bar, which was very good, not sure worth $27 per person, especially for a 12 and 13 yr old. It was not very busy there, but we still had to ask to have our plates taken from table.
Good meal, service was less than expected for such a nice resort.
Went for Christmas dinner and while the selection was decent and carving station was GREAT it was NOT worth $65 a person . You advertise character dining and send out 1 minion who never came near us and Homer Simpson. Very SAD!
Food selection for the Christmas buffet was amazing. Great presentation and tasty as well. I especially loved the dessert selection. The beniet action station was amazing. Even the desserts on the buffet were high quality and delicious. A lot of holiday buffets at restaurants will have the “defrosted” petit fores. But these looked and tasted like they were made in house.
I could have gone without the roaming Homer Simpson and minion characters, but “when in Rome...”
Food was ok but service was good. So far no one beats waffles at disney resorts. Had to get Starbucks coffee since the coffee wasnt good.
We ate there over the holiday season. The food was very good. However, the service was slow, the server missed an entire entree until it was called to his attention and we were served on dirty dishes that should have been obvious to the chef and servers. They did try to rectify the situation but a free meal does not fixed a missed meal. Very disappointed!
Excellent food and service was great at the restaurant.
Nice venue. Good food
Food is good. Quiet for a resort. Although it was mostly empty when we had dinners there twice during our short stay, the food ordered off the menu was a very long wait. If you go with the pasta bar, it obviously is very quick. The kids were tired and hungry and had to wait about 30 min for their food!
Went for dinner. No wait and the place was very quiet on a Saturday night. Not my favorite place... the food was just ok. I got a turkey club with fries and it was ice cold. Not a bad place- just average. Plus was a ballon animal artist & face painter- she was amazing. Great place for kids, not for a fancy meal. (Preferred the food at Sal’s and Mama Della’s)
Our stay at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel included buffet breakfast at Trattoria del Porto, so it was an excellent value. The food was quite good, especially for theme park hotel fare; there were assorted pastries and breads, cold and hot cereal, an assortment of hot food such as bacon, sausage, French toast, and pancakes, and an omelet bar. Our server was very polite and helpful. The space was large and pleasantly open and bright, with one exception (more on that later). The problem was this: we checked in our party of six and the lady asked us to wait because they had to put some tables together for us. This was puzzling because 1) I had made a reservation for this breakfast one month ago, not knowing how crowded it would be, and 2) the restaurant was mostly (75%) empty and there were at least 5-6 open tables for six within sight of the check-in desk. After five minutes, the lady directed us to a weird, cramped corner table they had cobbled for us where half of us would have had to slide into a closed bench and ask everyone to get up and move every time one of us wanted to get more food from the buffet, and two of us would have had to balance plates across the uneven join where the tables had been pushed together. WHY? Why would they take the time to move tables to make us sit like that when there were plenty of open tables (see picture)? And after I had made a month-long reservation? When I complained, they moved us to the dimmest table for six in restaurant, which was against a pillar, but at least everyone would be able to get up freely without bothering anyone else to get more food. It's a small thing and wouldn't have been a problem had the restaurant been full, but that initial experience really soured the mood for us all. I can only conclude that there's either some strange seating procedure the staff are taught to follow, or that the arrangement was motivated by some other bias. If not for that incident, the restaurant would have been perfect.
Possibly one of the best holiday buffet experiences ever. Fresh and delicious, helpful staff everywhere. Worth every penny. Destroys other hotels in the area.
Thanksgiving buffet was fantastic! Food options were terrific as was service. Worth the price!
Best brunch I've ever had. The variety was outstanding. I loved how there were so many high quality options for different types of food. The salads were so different and tasty. The meats were great. Loved the pasta bar. The whole family was super happy!
Children were allowed to run rampant. One young girl was sticking her hands in the buffet bowls, drawing on the buffet counter, and laying under the buffet table. There were 3-4 children screaming and bumping into tables of other patrons while management just watched. Soup bowl was half full and cold, my children ordered the pasta cucina and I wouldn’t let them eat off the buffet after what I witnessed. So $53 for two bowls of pasta.
When we notified our waitress, they did remove part of the buffet bowls that had been touched. But did nothing about the children, we paid and left. I would stay at Portofino again but would not return to eat here.
We dined there one evening and had a mediocre experience. This is one of the three restaurants with table service at Loews Portofino Resort at Universal Orlando where you can go with children. The food was delayed, and it was very hard to find servers. Two days later we went back for lunch as we didn't have a lot of options at the hotel. There were only two tables at 12:30 and our food was very delayed. The hostess cancelled our Open Table reservation without asking us for some reason; and we were seated at a table right behind the remains from breakfast...
Pasta bar was extensive and well presented. Salad bar was also well done. Sandwiches off the menu were disappointing.
Just breakfast with my love. Donnel was great very attentive. The food was hot and fresh. Thanks
No atmosphere and food very average. Sitting outside would have been a better option.
Very Good place to eat. Nice selection of food and breakfast selection from the buffet was very good.
On vacation near Universal Studio where the food is not always the best. This restaurant was better than most. The choices were limited but the fish was very tasty
We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary - everything was great
Thank you very much for making us so welcome and your special desert to help us celebrate.
Had dinner here one evening while on holiday. Very quiet so don’t know how the staff would be under more stressful conditions but due to the very few diners we got exceptional service. Food was exceptional also. Possibly the best main meal I’ve ever had. Ocean bass. Wow.
