About Trattoria Contadina
Thirty years ago Vincent Correnti stepped foot on the corner of Union & Mason and knew that it would be the corner to start the Correnti family legacy in North Beach. Very shortly after that his sons Dirk and Bret and his sister Ann were all here to make their family trattoria thrive. Over thirty years later this place is still full of Correnti’s. Current owners Gina & Kevin both feel a great responsibility to keep "THE TRATT " going in Kevin's grandfather, Vince Correnti's honor.

Trattoria Contadina Ratings and Reviews
A friend had recommended this place a few times. I finally made reservations for when my husband's parents were in town, so there was some pressure to have it be just right. It exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious, the staff friendly, & the overall atmosphere & experience cozy & fun. I can't wait to go back just the two of us!
Read a lot of great reviews about this restaurant but to be honest, I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Made a reservation two weeks in advance an glad I did because when we got there, people were spilling out of the entrance out onto the sidewalk waiting for a table.
Once inside however, the food was remarkably unimpressive and average at best. The meatball appetizer was OK but I've had just as good from a supermarket. The snapper entree was a bit under cooked and the pasta dish was nothing special.
With all the great restaurants in the city I'm not sure why this one gets such high marks. At least it wasn't overpriced...by San Francisco standards.
The food was on the bland side my husband really likes meat sauce with his Italian Food and they did have meatballs but no meat sauce only a bland marinara. The feel was more of a spaghetti factory atmosphere with lots of small children versus a date night place. I was disappointed in the Gnochi they were really heavy like led balloons in your stomach versus a light fluffy potato dumpling.
I took my parents here after Beach Blanket Babylon and it was amazing. The spaghetti and meatballs were first-rate (as were the rest of the dishes ordered in my party). We were seated upstairs, it was not too loud and seemed very private. I highly recommend!
Great neighborhood restaurant for dinner after Beach Blanket Babylon. Enjoyed the wine, appetizers, salad...loved the "Pickled things." But the entrée was just ok. Perhaps I ordered incorrectly. The service was great, the atmosphere fun and cozy. I'd try it again.
Trattoria Contadina is an absolutely wonderful neighborhood restaurant with great food and friendly service. While the restaurant is a local gem, it is not secret. It was full on a Thursday evening and a reservation during prime dining hours or days is a must. This it the best of fresh, comfort food, is prepared with simplicity and love. It is a great value, and the food is the focus of this dining experience. I can't wait to visit again.
As we were tourists in the city walking for most of the day we decided to eat early at 5:00. We decided to have entrees. Both of us felt the portions were right but the food was on the bland side. We expected some more flavor in the food. The dishes were eggplant paste and a pasta with clams. Good wine selection. As it was early there were only a few other diners.
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Trattoria Contadina before seeing a local show Friday night. The owner, Kevin and his staff took great care of us and the food was delicious! We started off with Happy Hour items, the meatballs and bruschetta were a great way to start off our meal. We ended up with a caprese salad and the beef ravioli which were just so tasty.
You cannot go wrong with any of their menu items and everyone makes the dining experience enjoyable. We will definitely be back, thank you to Kevin and everyone at Trattoria Contadina for making us feel like family!
I was visiting San Francisco from Los Angeles to see the show beach blanket Babylon I just happened onto this Italian gem when looking for a nearby restaurant. The food choices were varied (something for everyone). We started with a delicious Caesar salad. I had a tender, lemony chicken piccata and my friend had a delicious penne dish with kalamata olives and eggplant in a savory red sauce. The waiters were friendly and accommodating . An excellent choice!
