About Trattoria Contadina
Thirty years ago Vincent Correnti stepped foot on the corner of Union & Mason and knew that it would be the corner to start the Correnti family legacy in North Beach. Very shortly after that his sons Dirk and Bret and his sister Ann were all here to make their family trattoria thrive. Over thirty years later this place is still full of Correnti’s. Current owners Gina & Kevin both feel a great responsibility to keep "THE TRATT " going in Kevin's grandfather, Vince Correnti's honor.

Trattoria Contadina Ratings and Reviews
One of our favorite Italian Restaurants - we ended up eating in the small upstairs room (which we had no idea eve existed) and did not like the ambiance there at all - I certainly would avoid it even on a crowded night when you have to wait a bit for normal seating
Small place in North Beach near Washington Square. Unpretentious decor. Service was so-so during a time when place was not at all busy. Bartender made an excellent Old Fashioned. House red wine and Chianti by the glass were both mediocre, but moderately priced. Happy hour until 6, I think. Bruschetta were huge but otherwise unremarkable. Entrees - Carlesimo and Ravioli - were excellent. The Carlesimo was among the best pasta dishes I've ever had anywhere. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely come here again.
Great service and delicious! the stuffed pepper was amazing, as was our entre of short rib tortellini...the tiramisu was the best I have ever had. Walking distance to see Beach Blanket Babylon a great neighborhood spot with great quality, aauthentic Italian cuisine!
Very good food, and service was very good - at first. Good wine. Appetizers tasty. After our entrees were served though, service became a little non-existent for a while - like all the way until we were done and literally just trying to flag someone down for a dessert menu. hellooooo? :(
Awesome host Vince (family of owner) and servers. Amazing food. Tiny but charming and really warm atmosphere. We’re from the NY area and this food is as authentic Italian as it gets. Our second time here and it’s a must whenever we come to SF. We hugged it out with both Vince & Kevin (owners) as we left! Feels like family here.
The food was only mediocre. The pasta was overdone and the red sauce had no taste. The eggplant appetizer was the best part of the meal. The Ceasar salad dressing was not pungent enough. Only the addition of the anchovies (for an extra $3.00 dollars) made it tasty. The service was only fair though we were asked several times how the food was. On balance I would not recommend this restaurant to friends.
This is our second visit to this great neighborhood Italian. The diavolo sauce was the best that we've had and we have tasted plenty. Our friends enjoyed gnocchi and were nice enough to share some. Gnocchi will be on our order next time. Prices are reasonable, especially for what is served, and the service is fun and helpful.
Upon entering the restaurant you are pleasantly welcomed not only by the hostess by then again by the servers. Strongly recommend reservations but If you don’t have any they try really hard to fit you in. They support “mom and pop” establishments from getting meat locally and vegetables. Everything we ordered was extremely tasty. Our server Nancy was very knowledgeable about the wine and menu. We will be back!
Went for a friend’s birthday and really enjoyed it. For appetizers we had the bruschetta, which was just ok that night, and the pickled things which were a big hit. For my main, I had the spaghetti and meatballs which was yummy. A friend had the special risotto with artichokes, minus the chicken, and she absolutely loved it. 2 other friends had the Daviola and really enjoyed it. Great for small intimate gatherings! Terrific service!
Our group of 5 was very disappointed in our dining experience at Trattoria Contadina. The restaurant was run down, cramped and noisy. The service was ok, especially from the female busser who cared for us.
All of the above would have been forgiven if the food had been well-prepared and appropriately priced. Not one of us finished our meal or took home leftovers. All I can say is that the positive reviews that I saw must have come from those unfamiliar with Italian food. A tremendous disappointment!
