Wonderful! Thank you
Excellent Staff! This is going to be our place for regular visits. Special occasions too!
This is our family favorite local place....they are friendly, good wait staff and great food
We had a great time!
Went for Mother's Day Brunch this past Sunday. The spread they put out was really great! Amazing that they had so much food, and it was all very flavorful and a good temperature. Really great job on Mother's Day brunch, terrific value considering kids 3 and under eat free (and my 2 kids in that age range can eat a considerable amount). Desserts were great too! Very impressed.
Good dinner, though had to wait 20 minutes for table when we had reservation and the host did not seem concerned
The drinks were fine but why do they penalize the customers by charging an extra dollar for a drink on-the-rocks ?
Family dinner. Everyone was happy with their entree. We will be back
I went to Trattoria 225 while visiting family the area. Kaija patiently answered our questions about the specials and provided us with samples of the craft beers on tap. Everyone enjoyed their entrée’s. The shrimp risotto was perfectly seasoned and very creamy. One member of the group raved about the butternut ravioli stating it was the best she had outside of Italy. The trio of crème brulee’s were a fine finish to the meal. Thank you for a memorable meal. And, thank you Kaija for your attentive service!
The Easter brunch was reasonably priced. The food selections were good and arranged in an orderly fashion so as to find easily. The brunch ended at 3 pm and our reservation was for 2 pm. There was plenty of food although the French toast tray had only lukewarm toast and the leg of lamb was a little tough. Some desserts were already gone by the time I looked for them although others in my party got a good selection since they went for the desserts sooner than I. The service was good and it was easy to get water and coffee refills. My coffee was lukewarm until my 3rd and last cup when it was piping hot. The wait staff and servers were courteous and hospitable.
The food selection and quality was very poor. Not worth the money.
I want to love this place as it is a great little neighborhood spot but the food is just disappointing. The menu items sound great but when it comes to execution they just fall short - bagged salad, overcooked meat, cold dishes that should be warm. The best thing here is the pizza, which is good to dine in or to carry out.
Good food, great service. We would go back. The Risotto was excellent.
Trattoria 225 doesn't disappoint. We asked for a quiet table, and got the best in the house. Service was great, not buzzing around us too often, but there exactly when they should have been. Food was great, everyone ordered something different, and everyone loved what they got!!
225 is always great. We've introduced 5 friends to 225 and they all have come back.
Food was good except for salmon ordered that was very "fishy." Service was not very good. Waitress only asked half the table about drinks and half the table about dessert (this included 2 out of 4 children who couldn't figure out why they couldn't have dessert). We solved the problem by not ordering the wanted drinks and getting another waitress to get kids dessert. Probably won't return. Food isn't cheap and we can go to other places and get better service.
The food as usual was good. We enjoyed the NY strip steak medium rare with vegetables. Our friends had shrimp scampi with mushroom risotto and another shrimp item. All of us left our plates clean! The sauce with the strip steak was particularly good. The Affogato dessert was also very good. All in all a very enjoyable meal in a quiet setting with excellent service.
The bottle of wine we ordered was opened by the bartender at the bar, so it arrived at the table opened. This is a big nono. The bottle should be opened at the table.
Food was spectacular. Great Cosmo’s too.
We went here to visit with old friends, wonderful atmosphere. Food and staff both excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant as both a place to celebrate special occasions and to spend time with friends and family.
I live 4 blocks from Trattoria 225, but haven't been in quite a while -- it was nice to reconnect with the restaurant. Service was very good, and the pastas we ordered were tasty, but my friend and I had to go on a search-and-rescue mission to find the roasted beets in the salad. It's pretty loud here on a Saturday night, but it's a "having a good time" loud, so it's tolerable.
Great food. Pleasant atmosphere. Very enjoyable meal
Was there for New Year’s Eve dinner and have been there previously many timed. Food is consistently great. Service friendly. Saw families, groups of friends, and couples. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. We enjoyed the prixe fixe menu items. Great neighborhood place.
Found this little gem by accident and don’t know why more people haven’t discovered it yet. The service is always attentive. The food is good and rarely disappoints although could benefit from a few more vegetarian options. Since the grills are open to the dining area it can get a bit “greasy” smelling but a table closer to the window helps. Unfortunately the creme brûlée was either tempered incorrectly or was overheated and although the flavor came thru the custard was too eggy. Will definitely keep coming back.
Disappointed with restaurant overall. Expectation was that it was a warm and cozy Italian restaurant, but instead we were seated in a long hall type room. It felt like like the waitstaff were at the level of a casual pizza joint. Our specific server was nice, but we had not even finished our salads and our entrees were brought out. My husband ordered a steak which was rather chewy and they paired it with what was supposed to be augratin potatoes - unusual taste and not very good. I had the lamb shank and risotto- it was fine but not great. Risotto should not be so sticky and dense. Felt like it was plated like in a lunch line instead of a fine Italian restaurant.
A few ideas to help this restaurant- need to partition into a few areas using drapery ceiling to floor. Have more intimate seating in the window areas would help.
Partition kitchen area so everything is not viewed by guests. Felt like a large banquet hall with little thought to ambience.
Favorite neighborhood spot! We always order a bunch of food and are never disappointed by the flavors or the service. Relaxing place filled with art as well.
Slow service. We waited 15 mins for a waitress. Once we ordered drinks, it took another 10 mins to get them. We were charged $6 as a separate fee for ice in our drinks. Simple requests seemed to be a challenge.. Food was ok, not great. Caesar salad was bland and served as a wedge. The Au Poive sauce was excellent, but the meat was tough. We had a birthday celebration. Most restaurants comp a birthday dessert, they did not. All I n all, a big disappointment. Do no t recommend. We won’t be back.
Nice place for diner with friends. Very good menu, and also excellent pizza's.
Kid friendly. Our son especially liked watching the pizza's baking in the oven.
We have been coming to Trattoria 225 for a number of years and the food is consistently very good. Great value too!
My husband and I stayed in Oak Park for a week while we visited the Chicago area. Trattoria 225 turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants. We liked the broiled octopus so much we had to return for more. We are sorry we missed getting pizza here because it looks great.
Food was mediocre and the male waiter needs a lot of training. Perhaps he should consider a different kind of employment.
A friend recommended this restaurant to me for a first date a year ago. We came back for our first anniversary. I’m am sure it will become an annual event. The food was excellent! The service was perfect. It’s classy, but not overpriced. We highly recommend it. BTW: we have now been married for 7 months!
We continue to love the food, but this was the second time where there was far too little wait staff, resulting in slow service. It wasn't our waitresses' fault given the number of people she had to serve at several tables, but it will be many months before we return, if not a year.
Great food, but service was slower than usual. They looked to be down a server or busser and had several larger parties going on.
Amazing food and service. One of our best dates. Highly recommended.
The salmon was cooked a little crispy, don't think it needed the added butter on top-was a little greasey.
Reserved a table Trattoria 225 for me and my guy. We chose outdoor seating as the weather was perfect—right on the sidewalk, so you have to enjoy the occasional car going by. (The host was totally open to us changing tables and moving to one in their tasteful and inviting indoor dining room if we wanted to.) I can't attest to the noise level, as we were outside.
The bread tasted very good—warm and crisp, served with olive oil and parma cheese. I ordered the salmon (crispy on the outside, perfectly done on the inside) and was allowed to substitute roast potatoes for the rapini. All good. My fella had one of the specials: striped bass and green beans (I think) and he enjoyed his meal as well. The bartender made a great old fashioned for me and I believe the delicious wine was a sauvignon blanc.
This is my first time at Trattoria 225. My friends had highly recommended it, and I will certainly recommend it to others. The service was prompt and friendly, all the food was well presented. The prices are very reasonable for this neck of the woods. No complaints. I can't give 5 stars because, well, it takes a lot for me to call a restaurant exceptional, but maybe after a few more visits I'll change my mind!
The food was mediocre. Not sure what has happened here as their pizza used to be quite good. Maybe they have made some cuts impacting the quality. Maybe it was just a bad night. Service was pleasant and quite good!
My favorite place in Pak Park. Nice people and great food. It's consistent and relaxing
I took my girlfriend to dinner for her birthday and the food and service were as great. I had the Braised Beef Ragu and I would highly recommend it. Just a wonderful dining experience.
Went for Mother's Day 2017. Great Italian food. Conversation friendly, good, friendly service and great food at a reasonable price. Attractive decor in a nice Oak Park neighborhood.
