We strongly believe in supporting local producers and using organic products whenever possible. Our entire menu is available Gluten Free including our signature pizzas.

Was there for New Year’s Eve dinner and have been there previously many timed. Food is consistently great. Service friendly. Saw families, groups of friends, and couples. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. We enjoyed the prixe fixe menu items. Great neighborhood place.
Found this little gem by accident and don’t know why more people haven’t discovered it yet. The service is always attentive. The food is good and rarely disappoints although could benefit from a few more vegetarian options. Since the grills are open to the dining area it can get a bit “greasy” smelling but a table closer to the window helps. Unfortunately the creme brûlée was either tempered incorrectly or was overheated and although the flavor came thru the custard was too eggy. Will definitely keep coming back.
Disappointed with restaurant overall. Expectation was that it was a warm and cozy Italian restaurant, but instead we were seated in a long hall type room. It felt like like the waitstaff were at the level of a casual pizza joint. Our specific server was nice, but we had not even finished our salads and our entrees were brought out. My husband ordered a steak which was rather chewy and they paired it with what was supposed to be augratin potatoes - unusual taste and not very good. I had the lamb shank and risotto- it was fine but not great. Risotto should not be so sticky and dense. Felt like it was plated like in a lunch line instead of a fine Italian restaurant.
A few ideas to help this restaurant- need to partition into a few areas using drapery ceiling to floor. Have more intimate seating in the window areas would help.
Partition kitchen area so everything is not viewed by guests. Felt like a large banquet hall with little thought to ambience.
Slow service. We waited 15 mins for a waitress. Once we ordered drinks, it took another 10 mins to get them. We were charged $6 as a separate fee for ice in our drinks. Simple requests seemed to be a challenge.. Food was ok, not great. Caesar salad was bland and served as a wedge. The Au Poive sauce was excellent, but the meat was tough. We had a birthday celebration. Most restaurants comp a birthday dessert, they did not. All I n all, a big disappointment. Do no t recommend. We won’t be back.
My husband and I stayed in Oak Park for a week while we visited the Chicago area. Trattoria 225 turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants. We liked the broiled octopus so much we had to return for more. We are sorry we missed getting pizza here because it looks great.
A friend recommended this restaurant to me for a first date a year ago. We came back for our first anniversary. I’m am sure it will become an annual event. The food was excellent! The service was perfect. It’s classy, but not overpriced. We highly recommend it. BTW: we have now been married for 7 months!
We continue to love the food, but this was the second time where there was far too little wait staff, resulting in slow service. It wasn't our waitresses' fault given the number of people she had to serve at several tables, but it will be many months before we return, if not a year.
Reserved a table Trattoria 225 for me and my guy. We chose outdoor seating as the weather was perfect—right on the sidewalk, so you have to enjoy the occasional car going by. (The host was totally open to us changing tables and moving to one in their tasteful and inviting indoor dining room if we wanted to.) I can't attest to the noise level, as we were outside.
The bread tasted very good—warm and crisp, served with olive oil and parma cheese. I ordered the salmon (crispy on the outside, perfectly done on the inside) and was allowed to substitute roast potatoes for the rapini. All good. My fella had one of the specials: striped bass and green beans (I think) and he enjoyed his meal as well. The bartender made a great old fashioned for me and I believe the delicious wine was a sauvignon blanc.
This is my first time at Trattoria 225. My friends had highly recommended it, and I will certainly recommend it to others. The service was prompt and friendly, all the food was well presented. The prices are very reasonable for this neck of the woods. No complaints. I can't give 5 stars because, well, it takes a lot for me to call a restaurant exceptional, but maybe after a few more visits I'll change my mind!
The was excellent, and the service crisp and professional. But we came for mother's day, and were placed at a table right up against the buffet. We had to physically move our table because people kept bumping into the back of our chairs. Still we were frequently blocked in on two sides by buffet traffic. Just give your buffet a good amount of space next time around please.
We've dined here a few times and have been overall satisfied. The food is a little better than good. This time our mussels were overcooked and that's the dish that keeps us coming back, so that was a little disappointing. We'll probably give it another shot, but were definitely disappointed this time around.
Easter brunch, too much food in steam pans for the sternos to keep warm, French toast burnt, bacon so undercooked, chicken pecatta was so dry it was inedible. My mom did like the roast leg of lamb, but wished they offered a mint jelly, the penne pretty good. Server was attentive, reservation seamless no waiting at all. This isn't the regular menu, so I'll give them another chance, but if you are going to offer a brunch, lower the portions and refresh more often
Trattoria 225 is a neighborhood gem. We feel so fortunate to be within walking distance. We love stopping by for pizza and cocktails at the bar, getting carry out, dining in for a special occasion or just a simple date night. We have enjoyed Easter brunch several times and each time it has been terrific. The selection, variety, quality and freshness of the food is top notch. Love this place!
The pizza is poor. Not the worst I've ever had but pretty poor. Of about ten Neapolitan-style pizza places I've gone in Chicago, it's probably only #9 on that list (the best is Spacca Napoli in Ravenswood). Trattoria 225 pizza looked nothing like in their online photos. The servers were cheerful and attentive and the place wasn't very crowded and was quiet (on a Saturday night, if that tells you anything). The salad came out with pepperoni in it. We asked for vegetarian and they brought it back . . . with pepperoni hidden in it. They comped it, but it made the vegetarians nervous. Overall, I had to pay $15+tip for a mediocre pizza margarita pizza that I could've made a better version of myself in my electric oven for about $3.
The signature pizzas are AWESOME! The salads were good but definitely order to share - one salad per person is far too large and I would have loved if the server would have recommended sharing (a lot was wasted.) Lovely service though, really pretty art installation in the window, and the staff was great with my toddler. We will definitely be back for pizza!
The food was tasty, the drinks did the job and the waitress was the best. The problem was with you,Open Table. When we got there they didn't have our reservation,despite my receiving your acknowledgement #1438669168. Fortunately they were able to seat our party of six.
Have been here a few times before and have always been satisfied. Rustic italian and my wife loved the ahi tuna and I was pleased with the braised short ribs....very tender.
Service was courteous and timely and the owner Bill made a point to ask how we were doing. Will come back in the future.
I had a few questions regarding the Valentine Special offered by the restaurant, and called for clarification. The person I spoke with was gracious, friendly, and helpful. We truly enjoyed the ambience and the food was good (not spectacular, but solid).
The waitress was either having an off day, or needs a little more training. The restaurant was not busy, but she was spacey and seemed rushed, did not offer suggestions or explanations of food (or specials) choices, had to be asked for clarification when she did respond to a question, and was most definitely not attentive. She was nice enough, leading us to the conclusion that she may have been a newer staff person.
The food was delicious! It was our first time there. The server was very attentive and made sure that we had all we needed. The salad was lacking since it was iceberg lettuce and the house vinaigrette dressing was bland/non-descript. Even though the place was pretty full on a Friday night, we were able to carry on conversations without difficulty. The ambiance was rustic and rather Italian like. The wine list is not extensive, but it has a nice variety. I would recommend this restaurant, and we plan to o back again.
On Tuesdays the pizzas are 2 for $20. We shared four different offerings, each unique and tasty. There is a full bar including draft beer ( which was our choice that evening). We topped off our dinner with pumpkin gelato. A very enjoyable evening, and we had pizza leftovers to take home!
It was our first time there, but it won't be our last. I had the beet ravioli in pesto cream sauce. It was delicious, along with my salad, the warm bread, and the pumpkin amaretto gelato. My daughter loved her gnocchi with butternut squash and spinach, and my husband raved about his spicy sausage pizza. Prices are quite reasonable and it will be our go to place in Oak Park. The only down side was an odd smell in the restaurant.
Very good food, but unfortunately not good for families - which is too bad! It's right around the corner from us, so would have made a great Friday night spot. Unfortunately it is often pretty empty/quiet, so kids stick out like sore thumbs, and the noise just echoes. In fact, we were told that another table was bothered by our five and three year olds being well, five and three. So fine for date night, but leave the kids at home! Better family place is Avenue Ale House, or Obsessed, over on OP avenue.
