Despite making reservations, we had to wait 10-15 minutes to get a table. They said they're reservations were all backed up. They had a special going on for V day, with very reasonable prices. Food was decent, but nothing to rave about. The ambiance and service were great. Another nice perk, they wrapped our wine bottle to go since we didn't finish.
Excellent food, wine, ambience and service. One of my favorite restaurants.
Food here is really really good. Service is a bit slow but friendly and helpful. My kids really like this place also and it is one of the only places they both agree on. I'm a fan.
The food was fantastic and our server was wonderful. From fish to pasta everything was excellent. I had asked for a round table if available and they delivered on that as well. We will definitely be returning.
Our server, Sam, was awesome. She’s great with kids, fun & professional personality & on top of everything. Great service & food!
Outstanding food and service!
We alway love the place great food and great service The meals alway have an extra touch that makes them different for other restaurants
Every time we bring someone new they comeback with other friends.
Disclaimer: I cook a lot and have very high standards but this is in my village so decided to try it. Pleasantly surprised at the food. 4/6 entrees were very flavorful including gluten-free options. Steamed mussels and chicken special were delicious! Gnocchi with short rib was very salty but tasty. Gluten-free linguini with Frutti di mare was spectacular when paired with Montepuliciano wine.
Enjoyed our dinner as always. Busy New Years Eve but everyone seemed to be having a great time and enjoying the food and service. One of our favorite local spots to eat.
My wife and I went there for New Year's Eve dinner. They had a fixed menu. The food was adequate but not great. Service was fine. The price was less than other places we were looking for dinner but the food was lacking also.
The food and service never disappoint. So lucky to have this gem close to home.
My daughter and I went to Trattoria 225 for Christmas Eve dinner. Luckily, we made a reservation, because everyone in the neighborhood seemed to have the same idea. Despite the fact that the restaurant was full, we had impeccable service and the food was outstanding. We will definitely return.
Always love eating here! Never a bad meal!! The service is friendly and quick and they are kid-friendly!
The food was really salty and doesn’t taste fresh. The meat in the spaghetti was tough and very dry. Horrible!
Always a great place to dine
the bartender makes the best perfect rob roys in town.
The food and service is consistently good!
My wife and I have only been to Trattoria 225 a few times. Each time we have dined it has been a wonderful experience. The food and service has always been great. We had the BLT and Three Little Pigs pizza on our last visit which were very good along with some Querceto Chianti. We will keep coming back knowing that we will have a great time. This is a neighborhood gem!
We love 225. It’s been a local favorite for years. This last visit I had the Halibut special and it was the best piece of fish I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The servers are consistently great, and the noise level allows you to have a nice conversation.
Comfortable ambiance. Great find and convenient for us. Downtown quality restaurant in a neighborhood location. We'll be back.
My pizza (3 Little Pigs) was terrific while my wife's baked penne was very good. Our server was wonderful: attentive without being intrusive.
I really enjoy the decor and noise level of this spot. Kudos to the owner who is involved, not just a passive observer.
Trattoria 225 is now firmly among our family's go-to neighborhood restaurants!
The server, actually not the waitress, was kind of clumsy. He would come and pour water, and drip it all over. When serving the bread in a bag, he placed it on top of the dish with oil and cheese! He definitely needs some additional training. He appears to be a high school kid, and maybe, just maybe would need that training.
This Italian restaurant is great because they offer options beyond the typical spaghetti + bolognese. The atmosphere feels very “neighborhood restaurant” which is great. The service was meh- my party was never offered a wine list and the waiter disappeared for quite a long time between dinner and dessert. But overall I quite liked this restaurant and I think I’m likely to return.
Nice but quiet Trattoria, we ended up sitting at the bar and dining which was preferred. Fairly quiet but food was very good. Mussels and rustic pizza were satisfying. Limited wine selection. Overall a great place to visit, very comfortable.
I love the ambiance of this restaurant. It is warm and comfortable. My husband and I usually go here for pizza , salad and a nice bottle of wine and we sit at the bar. Dave the bartender is very personable. The owner is very nice and the servers are always very helpful. At this visit we sat in the dining room and ordered dinner. Unfortunately the meal was not amazing. We started with the shrimp romesco, which was delicious. The kitchen staff was also very helpful to make us a special meatless appetizer for our daughter who is vegetarian. The linguine and clam sauce was very bland and the chicken dinner that my husband was very juicy but had no flavor. The bottom line: stick to the pizza and appetizers and enjoy a cozy night out.
Really good place for a group - has something delicious for everyone. Everything tasted great. Salads came with entrees. Attentive service. Hosts were happy to see us. It's been awhile since we came here - we will be back again soon.
Trattoria 225 is my favorite Italian restaurant in Oak Park. The prices are reasonable, portions are ample, and the food is well-prepared. One of my favorite dishes is the Shrimp Risotto which was creamy, just the way I like it. You cannot go wrong with any of the specials. My father enjoyed the Stuffed Chicken Special. Thank you, Lex for your fine service.
Wonderful place for a family gathering. Our group of 10 thoroughly enjoyed each of the appetizers, main courses and desserts. Excellent and attentive service. A genuine neighborhood gem!
1. Freezing cold. No need to blast your patrons w/ AC.
2. Salads were drowning in vinaigrette. Greens do have flavor if U dress them lightly.
3. Pls inform your patrons that the calamari is grilled not fried
4. Pastas were decent but nothing special
5. Tiramisu was served to us still frozen in center
5. Service and generous wine pour were the best part of our dining experience
One of our favorite places to eat in Oak Park. Excellent food and drink, great service, easy to reach location. We were out with friends so split two pizzas - two of our favorites, 3 Little Pigs, and the Goat.
Wonderful! Thank you
Excellent Staff! This is going to be our place for regular visits. Special occasions too!
This is our family favorite local place....they are friendly, good wait staff and great food
We had a great time!
Went for Mother's Day Brunch this past Sunday. The spread they put out was really great! Amazing that they had so much food, and it was all very flavorful and a good temperature. Really great job on Mother's Day brunch, terrific value considering kids 3 and under eat free (and my 2 kids in that age range can eat a considerable amount). Desserts were great too! Very impressed.
Good dinner, though had to wait 20 minutes for table when we had reservation and the host did not seem concerned
The drinks were fine but why do they penalize the customers by charging an extra dollar for a drink on-the-rocks ?
Family dinner. Everyone was happy with their entree. We will be back
I went to Trattoria 225 while visiting family the area. Kaija patiently answered our questions about the specials and provided us with samples of the craft beers on tap. Everyone enjoyed their entrée’s. The shrimp risotto was perfectly seasoned and very creamy. One member of the group raved about the butternut ravioli stating it was the best she had outside of Italy. The trio of crème brulee’s were a fine finish to the meal. Thank you for a memorable meal. And, thank you Kaija for your attentive service!
The Easter brunch was reasonably priced. The food selections were good and arranged in an orderly fashion so as to find easily. The brunch ended at 3 pm and our reservation was for 2 pm. There was plenty of food although the French toast tray had only lukewarm toast and the leg of lamb was a little tough. Some desserts were already gone by the time I looked for them although others in my party got a good selection since they went for the desserts sooner than I. The service was good and it was easy to get water and coffee refills. My coffee was lukewarm until my 3rd and last cup when it was piping hot. The wait staff and servers were courteous and hospitable.
