Trata Greek Taverna Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious. Service was great. The music was too loud but it was lowered when we asked. The octopus and gigantic appetizers were perfect. Our Greek salads were yummy. The grilled Bronzino, Mussels, Salmon and Paella all were generous portions and tasted great. We would definitely return!
The Grouper and the Salmon were great!. Stay away from the gyros. Its the kind you can purchase at a grocery store, frozen and pre-sliced. They should be embarrassed to serve that in an authentic Greek restaurant. The grilled octopus appetizer is a ridiculous portion for $18. They serve it on a small side dish the size of a coffee coaster. Service was quick but not very warm as traditional in a Greek restaurant.
The food and service were great.....but our server continued to make nasty comments under his breath but where we could hear about an adjacent table. Made us wonder what he might have been saying about us where we couldn't hear, and more importantly was just inappropriate. Other than that it was a great meal and location was wonderful.
Our reservations were honoured during the holidays. The bar area was nice and had TV’s to watch sports. The tzaziki was decent but lacking garlic, salt and taste. We ordered grilled pita to go along with the tzaziki and only one piece was given to our table of 4. The chicken shish kabob was just ok. The gyro was very cheap meat slices, unappetizing presentation and expensive for what it was. French fries were good but they give only a tiny portion on the plate. Will not return as food is overpriced and quality mediocre.
I ordered 1 glass of wine, and it showed up on the bill as $28.00 for one glass of white wine!
It was more expensive than the dinner! I was appalled and it ruined the evening.
Also very noisy -- tables too close together and open to the traffic outside, which
meant breathing exhaust fumes, along with the most expensive glass of wine.
Trata Greek Taverna is one of our favorite places, especially for celebrations and for taking out guests. It has wonderful ambience and they even play authentic Greek music. We loved the stuffed grape leaves as our flavorful appetizer. The Shrimp Saganaki and Scallops Saganaki had tangy tomatoes and were in a delicious tomato and oil base with fresh feta. We shared a tasty and generous Greek salad and a sweet Greek dessert with honey and layers of philo dough. Our waiter, Marco, was terrific as usual and is always entertaining and treats us like family.
Everything was fine about the restaurant until it came down to the check. Gratuities was included and since my waiter did not go above and beyond, I felt the 18% was doable. So when the waiter gave me my receipt to sign, I did not add another tip and he questioned me about it. I thought it was so unprofessional of him to do that. I told him if gratuities are included it's not necessary for me to tip again. He then said the gratuities was not included. I told him it was and he went back and looked over at the receipt and realized I was right and then he apologized. At that point, I just wanted to leave and will not visit this venue again.
Our team stopped off at Trata for the last day of our trip and we left feeling well served, with an amazing experience, and full stomachs. Their deals with the seafood platter may sound like they are up selling you, but without a doubt we left feeling ecstatic that Tommie had convinced us to go with the platter. Grouper, Salmon, Octopus, Scallops, and Shrimp... you can't go wrong.
