Trapper's Chop House
My most recent visit was disappointing. Having visited numerous times over the past 7 years, I was surprised to see bison removed from the menu. The calamari appetizer consisted of the smallest pieces of calamari I'd ever been served - they looked to be scraps from the bottom of a bag. The restaurant was not crowded or busy but service was very slow with 10-15 minutes elapsing between courses. Mentioning we were celebrating an anniversary, the server offered us a complimentary dessert (bananas foster), which did taste good but was not flambéed as in prior experiences. But upon receiving the bill the dessert was listed as full price ($9). When paying almost $100 for dinner for two, excellent service is a requirement, and high quality menu options are important.
The Best steak I have ever had. Taste, temperature, and a presentation was lover the top.
Try the Steak Oscar for an experience of a lifetime.
Always a good place to enjoy good food and good service!
Very good food, dated facility with cheap decor but great service. Overall a very good place.
This is my second time to the restaurant and it was excellent. The food service and atmosphere is to notch. Most people don't know about the restaurant above a Holiday Inn. You will not be disappointed. Give it a try.
Such a great restaurant..great food...nice, friendly people..nice place to catch up with friends or family
It's fine, but expensive.
Have dined at this restaurant many times and it is a favorite of ours. Love cooking the meats on the stone, every bite just how we want it cooked.
Overall a great restaraunt and staff was very good. I would recommend it to anyone!
We love this place! Food and service are exceptional!! We have read some reviews that the place is outdated well we would rather eat somewhere that had great food and service. Yes the restaurant could use some updating but that is not a deterrent as the restaurant is very clean.
Celebrated our anniversary at Trapper's, 1st time visiting. Was a good experience, good food and MacKenzie provided great service Definitely will be back
I was surprised that this was in a hotel and also kind of skeptical - But it turned out that we had great prices on drinks, and excellent service and food. We did not want to use the stones to cook our steaks and the chef cooked them perfectly as requested. I would go back for sure.
It was great as always, but we don't like that the piano music is gone.....
I have enjoyed a lot of dinners at Trappers, the last two have been just OK. Both times they overlooked my Salmon, the mashed potatoes that in the last were worth the trip all by themselves in the past were only OK, not real warm, kinda stiff, just not like the past. We will be back, and hope the next time is better, because we hope it will be. Truly the food has been amazing in the past and I hope the next time is better.
If you do romancing the stone, you cook your food on the rock, love that and it always is yummy.
Overall, our dining experience was good. The noise level from the bar overshadowed the dinning room. When we booked our reservation on Open Table, we noted we were celebrating a birthday. When we arrived, they asked if we were celebrating any special occasion - we shared that we were celebrating a birthday. No acknowledgement was ever made during our dining experience. Why ask, if the restaurant does not do anything to acknowledge? Most restaurants will at least provide a complimentary dessert. A bit disappointing . . .
The food was excellent and the portions were large enough for us to share a meal and still have leftovers. As we went on a weeknight, it was pretty empty so I can’t really comment on what the noise level is on a busy night. Our service was excellent.
Nice view but not enough ventilation. They do a hot stone cooking at your table and it smokes up the entire restaurant. Service was great. Food was good but a bit high. Steak was outback quality at Del Frisco’s price
Great place. Food was good but not cooked how I wanted but overall good just expensive for not getting exactly what I asked for
Food was better than ever for our party of 8. It took a longer time than usual for the amount of customers that were there but was worth the wait. Delicious!
We have been to Trappers many times over the years. It has always been excellent, till now.
The lava rock was way too hot and cooking on it made the most horrible smell. I was in a party of 5 and we all had Romancing the Stone and we all felt the that the smoke arising from the rock was terribly offensive.
I think your person in charge of heating the stones should find out from an outside source what temp the rocks should be heated too. I was sad, instead of the nice aroma of steak grilling the overpowering stench from the rock ruined the entire meal. The waitstaff that waited on us was top notch. They were perfect. Too bad your rock was just too hot.
Went for 5 yr anniversary. Amazing food & service. Very comfortable resteraunt.. Steak Oscar was delivious. We will be back soon.
We both had Steak and it was prepared perfectly.
Jalapeño mashed potatoes are a must !
The waiter was not personable and didn’t seem to want to be there.
The dining room was constantly filled with smoke because of their signature dish - ‘romancing the stone’. Which is ok, I suppose. But they need to work on the ventilation.
Generally the dining room appearance is really aged and needs updating.
We have been coming here for over 10 years and it used to feel more alive and upbeat. Now it’s drab and uninviting.
There’s a board up front indicating they’ll change the menu after the new year. 6 months notice is a bit weird...but ok. Hopefully things change for the better.
The service was descent but we were there for an hour before we got our appetizer that they forgot and 1 1/2 hours before they delivered our food to the table. The lobster was cold and the seared steak looked dried out from sitting so long before cooking it on the stone. Our previous visits have been excellent but not this time!
The meal from start to finish was awesome. The restaurant was clean and well laid out. The food was fantastic; however, the Caesar salad was the worst part (and only thing i would order differently). The romancing the stone option to cook on a lava stone was fun and allowed the food to be cooked a little at a time so that every bite was hot. I wish I would have come here sooner, now it will be a staple for upcoming date nights.
Food was excellent and service was wonderful. Skyler provided us with great service and was attentive. Food is expensive though.
Andy, was an awful and condescending server. Almost ruined the whole experience for us.
Has been our favorite place for several years but there has been a steady decline in the food. Seared tuna was removed from the menu. Including us, we overheard 2 other couples wanting the seared tuna. The dining room was pretty empty at 7pm on a Saturday night. Our dining room service was good. The special of the night looked good but not at $38. Would have been nice to have more than one option. At our last visit to the bar The happy hour menu doesn’t offer new items, good items were removed, and service has declined in the bar taking an extended time to order and waited 25 minutes to pay at our last visit. The meals are good but not worth the price charged. The salmon is just as awesome at Cheddars for 1/3 the price.
Food was terrible. Even the bread was not good. The appetizer I couldn’t eat. The food was very below average. The restaurant needs to be updated. And they need a new chef. I was extremely disappointed and will not go again. The romancing the stone special cooked the steak on a stone and it had a horrible smell. I couldn’t even eat it. The restaurant itself smelled bad and I believe it’s from the stones they are cooking the food on. They definitely need better ventilation and perhaps are not cleaning the stones properly??
Delicious food and amazing sevice. Fun surprise date night. Highly recommend stopping in for dinner or happy hour.
To start, the food quality just wasn’t there. I had to salt and pepper EVERYTHING. The meat and veggies were completely flavorless. I can’t recall the last time I had to add seasoning to a meal in a restaurant. The restaurant was filled with smoke. I’ve eaten at restaurants where you can cook your own steak on a stone in the past and they had excellent ventilation. That was not the case here. It was very Smokey. The fire alarm went off twice. One of the sprinkler heads started leaking. There were firemen walking around the dining area. I had to leave my spouse and go out to the car because the strobe lights on the alarms made me nauseated. No apology was given. Certainly no discount was offered. We won’t be back.
We went to Trappers for our anniversary dinner. Enjoyed happy hour drinks in the bar then onto dinner.
The staff were very nice, prompt and helpful. I ordered the Salmon and loved it! My husband ordered Chicken Cordon bleu and enjoyed his meal, as well. We were offered a desert, on the house, as a Happy Anniversary treat. We went on a Wednesday so the restaurant was quiet and very relaxing. I recommend it for a perfect date night.
Hi SandyR -- thank you for joining us for your special day!! We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us and we do hope to have you back soon!!
Meh. Very disappointing Mother’s Day brunch. We enjoyed Trapper’s The first two years they were open. Management must have changed. All the expensive dishes were bland and may have well been Costco samplers. We will not return, and I recommend Open Table drop them from their rolls.
DukeDenver -- sorry to hear about your experience -- not sure if we were at the same brunch, but many folks provided feedback that it was delicious and also everything was made in house -- Management changed a year ago as well as ownership but this is a good thing. Back in the day almost nothing was made in house. We have items on our Menu from $5 to $49 -- so there is quite a variety there. We do hope you enjoy your summer.
Food was good, but service was slow.
Steaks were tough. Felt as though we were being charged for prime meat and received choice grade.
I took my prom date here for a nice dinner and she and I were both impressed. We had a delicious dinner paired with great ambiance. My date was impressed and thought it was special, which is exactly what I wanted for her. Great date restaurant!
Hi JamesL -- we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your prom dinner experience with us. We appreciate that you chose our restaurant for your special date and do hope that you will think of us in the future!
Thank you! -- We hope to see you for Mother's Day Brunch!
I was excited for the Easter Brunch. I found it to be over priced for the quality of food we received. It was a let down.
Sorry to hear about your experience with our Easter Brunch Buffet. We definitely will use your feedback to improve. Thanks.
This was the first Easter buffet. They are clearly learning. The ham and beef were way over cooked. But the lobster ravioli and salmon were great as were the waffles. Great ambiance. I suspect that next year will be even better.
Thank you for your feedback. While this was one of the 1st ones in a while, we definitely have had Mother's Day and Easter Brunch buffets. Sorry about the prime rib roast --- we actually received the wrong kind from our supplier, which was boneless, and therefore definitely makes a huge difference when it is cooked. We will have the right kind for our Mother' Day Buffet. We are glad you visited us and thank you for your feedback.
Steak on romancing stone was fun and wonderful! The server forgot our salads however he got us some free desserts and made us feel better. Thanks.
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our Romancing the Stone option! Sorry for the slip up with the salads, but we are glad to hear that our awesome server made it right for you. Thank you!
