Trapper's Chop House
The service was descent but we were there for an hour before we got our appetizer that they forgot and 1 1/2 hours before they delivered our food to the table. The lobster was cold and the seared steak looked dried out from sitting so long before cooking it on the stone. Our previous visits have been excellent but not this time!
The meal from start to finish was awesome. The restaurant was clean and well laid out. The food was fantastic; however, the Caesar salad was the worst part (and only thing i would order differently). The romancing the stone option to cook on a lava stone was fun and allowed the food to be cooked a little at a time so that every bite was hot. I wish I would have come here sooner, now it will be a staple for upcoming date nights.
Food was excellent and service was wonderful. Skyler provided us with great service and was attentive. Food is expensive though.
Andy, was an awful and condescending server. Almost ruined the whole experience for us.
Has been our favorite place for several years but there has been a steady decline in the food. Seared tuna was removed from the menu. Including us, we overheard 2 other couples wanting the seared tuna. The dining room was pretty empty at 7pm on a Saturday night. Our dining room service was good. The special of the night looked good but not at $38. Would have been nice to have more than one option. At our last visit to the bar The happy hour menu doesn’t offer new items, good items were removed, and service has declined in the bar taking an extended time to order and waited 25 minutes to pay at our last visit. The meals are good but not worth the price charged. The salmon is just as awesome at Cheddars for 1/3 the price.
Food was terrible. Even the bread was not good. The appetizer I couldn’t eat. The food was very below average. The restaurant needs to be updated. And they need a new chef. I was extremely disappointed and will not go again.
Delicious food and amazing sevice. Fun surprise date night. Highly recommend stopping in for dinner or happy hour.
To start, the food quality just wasn’t there. I had to salt and pepper EVERYTHING. The meat and veggies were completely flavorless. I can’t recall the last time I had to add seasoning to a meal in a restaurant. The restaurant was filled with smoke. I’ve eaten at restaurants where you can cook your own steak on a stone in the past and they had excellent ventilation. That was not the case here. It was very Smokey. The fire alarm went off twice. One of the sprinkler heads started leaking. There were firemen walking around the dining area. I had to leave my spouse and go out to the car because the strobe lights on the alarms made me nauseated. No apology was given. Certainly no discount was offered. We won’t be back.
We went to Trappers for our anniversary dinner. Enjoyed happy hour drinks in the bar then onto dinner.
The staff were very nice, prompt and helpful. I ordered the Salmon and loved it! My husband ordered Chicken Cordon bleu and enjoyed his meal, as well. We were offered a desert, on the house, as a Happy Anniversary treat. We went on a Wednesday so the restaurant was quiet and very relaxing. I recommend it for a perfect date night.
Hi SandyR -- thank you for joining us for your special day!! We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us and we do hope to have you back soon!!
Meh. Very disappointing Mother’s Day brunch. We enjoyed Trapper’s The first two years they were open. Management must have changed. All the expensive dishes were bland and may have well been Costco samplers. We will not return, and I recommend Open Table drop them from their rolls.
DukeDenver -- sorry to hear about your experience -- not sure if we were at the same brunch, but many folks provided feedback that it was delicious and also everything was made in house -- Management changed a year ago as well as ownership but this is a good thing. Back in the day almost nothing was made in house. We have items on our Menu from $5 to $49 -- so there is quite a variety there. We do hope you enjoy your summer.
Food was good, but service was slow.
Steaks were tough. Felt as though we were being charged for prime meat and received choice grade.
I took my prom date here for a nice dinner and she and I were both impressed. We had a delicious dinner paired with great ambiance. My date was impressed and thought it was special, which is exactly what I wanted for her. Great date restaurant!
Hi JamesL -- we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your prom dinner experience with us. We appreciate that you chose our restaurant for your special date and do hope that you will think of us in the future!
Thank you! -- We hope to see you for Mother's Day Brunch!
I was excited for the Easter Brunch. I found it to be over priced for the quality of food we received. It was a let down.
Sorry to hear about your experience with our Easter Brunch Buffet. We definitely will use your feedback to improve. Thanks.
This was the first Easter buffet. They are clearly learning. The ham and beef were way over cooked. But the lobster ravioli and salmon were great as were the waffles. Great ambiance. I suspect that next year will be even better.
Thank you for your feedback. While this was one of the 1st ones in a while, we definitely have had Mother's Day and Easter Brunch buffets. Sorry about the prime rib roast --- we actually received the wrong kind from our supplier, which was boneless, and therefore definitely makes a huge difference when it is cooked. We will have the right kind for our Mother' Day Buffet. We are glad you visited us and thank you for your feedback.
Steak on romancing stone was fun and wonderful! The server forgot our salads however he got us some free desserts and made us feel better. Thanks.
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our Romancing the Stone option! Sorry for the slip up with the salads, but we are glad to hear that our awesome server made it right for you. Thank you!
My son went there for Prom. They had a good time and the food was good, service a little slow
Sorry to hear about the service, but we are glad that your son and his date visited us for their prom dinner. We appreciate the feedback so that we are able to pinpoint issues and catch them head on. Thanks again!
Nice atmosphere (other than the smoke from the steaks cooking at the tables on the hot lava rocks) - beautiful view especially at sunset! (need to clean your windows once the spring rains are subsided). Good food (though over priced) - and mostly really great service our waiter was awesome and had lots of options for us - but made it easy to choose based on information given - it was overall really fun comfortable - and worth it enough that we will be back!
We are glad to hear that you will be back! We appreciate the feedback and will use it to improve and keep moving forward. We do look forward to your next visit.
My table’s meals were very well prepared and delivered. Our server was very attentive.
Dear Don123 -- thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate it very much. Thanks for dining with us!
We returned to Trapper's as they are under new management. The food was very good and our server was efficient but the timing of the food was very bad. We both ordered appetizers and I ordered a salad as the second course. The salad was brought out almost at the same as the appetizer. That was not an issue as salad is a cold dish. I had started on the salad when the entree was brought out. Trapper's is still not fine dining but the prices are. I expect better service when paying $50 per entree.
Hi DHNS - We are sorry to hear about the timing of your dishes, and rest assured we are taking measures to ensure this does not happen to our valued guests. Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to grow.
We have been to Trapper's Chop house 3 times in the last few months. The service was much better and faster this time. We like to enjoy a salad with the addition of a steak which seems to be a much more reasonable portion and price for us. But I will have to say each time that dish has been served a little differently, the waiter did not ask how we wanted our steak prepared and it came already sliced up....I like to cut my own steak and I like it pretty rare. All in all it was a good meal though.
Hi SippieWoodhead -- Thank you for leaving your feedback. We appreciate hearing from you. We are glad to hear that the service is better and faster for you and definitely will take the notes to our kitchen about the consistency of the dishes that we offer out to our guests. Thank you!
It’s a great place for happy hour and the views are fantastic! We all ordered steaks and thought they didn’t have much flavor. Hardly any crab in the Steak Oscar. Go for the burgers!
Every thing was great had a good time would revisit again
Service wasn’t pleasant - calamari appetizer wasn’t seasoned and the batter wasn’t really attached to it just kind of put on the plate ... ribeye was really tough lacked flavor. Overall there wasn’t a wow factor at all... completely forgettable. Restaurant was pretty empty so couldn’t have used that as an excuse. Disappointed.
Best Steak and views in Parker. Easy great location.
Beautiful restaurant in the Parker area. We hadn't been here for several years and were excited for a return visit. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting with gorgeous views of the mountains. The food, unfortunately, was a great disappointment. I ordered the Steak Oscar which would have been lovely had the chef had not overcooked the filet. A little seasoning on the beef, such as salt, would have also been welcomed. My husband chose the Build Your Own Bonanza, a side of creamed spinach, and truffle fries. Portions were minuscule, the truffle oil almost nonexistent, and the creamed spinach bland. The best part of dinner was the wine we ordered. At this price point, there are so many other dining options in the metro area where the food is remarkable and memorable. We won't make another return visit here.
Have been eating here for many years and the quality has really gone downhill. The Steak Oscar was dry and not good quality,Ordered med, the crab meat was brown and dry, the sides were just really off. Worst meal I have ever had here and for 3 people a bill of $140 is not my idea of a good meal for me and the family. Will not be going back here anytime soon.
Hi JamesS, So sorry to hear about your meal from this past weekend. I have reviewed your notes with our chef and we will find out why your meals went out less than the quality that we keep as our standard. Sorry to hear that you feel it has gone downhill, however we have made some great changes and have gotten amazing feedback from our guests. There are times that we may have an off night or make a mistake, however we always want to strive for the best! We appreciate your comments.
Very expensive for mediocre food. Ambiance and service were good.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and have gone there for a few years but they have changed for the worst. All of the game meat options are gone from the menu and the desserts are 1/4 the size but the same price. My date and I didn't order alcohol or appetizers and the waiter actually gave us a look of disgust. The rest of the meal he was rude and treated is like we were wasting his time. We will not be returning again.
Sorry that you hadn't been here for several years. We removed the game options because they simply were not selling and were losing money in keeping those items in stock, we are leaving that sort of specialty to places like Buckhorn exchange etc. Our desserts are not smaller -- in fact we added some new options and increased portion size on a couple, not to mention we don't have a dessert over $10. We will address the service issue you experienced and hold that to a high regard. Thank you
Disappointed that they took elk, venison and bison off the menu.
Hi Leslie, Sorry you are disappointed. Those items are quite expensive to keep on hand and the amount we actually sold just did not sustain that continued practice - we definitely get the disappointment though and suggest visiting a restaurant that specializes in and has those regularly. Thank you for sharing and we do hope that we can entice you with some of our new dishes and our awesome happy hour!
Wonderful place! Exceeded expectations. You must cook your steaks.. Romancing the Stone...epic!! If you enjoy your steak hot ..this is the best ever! 5 stars!!
Thank you thebothman! We are so glad that you enjoyed our Romancing the Stone option and that you took the time to share your experience!! We appreciate you and do look forward to your next visit.
We love this place. The service is usually better. The server was never around. Hard to get cocktails.
Hi Gary, So sorry that you experienced a lag in your service. We appreciate you letting us know so that we are able to address these issues and stress the importance of providing stellar service with our staff. Please give us another shot and we would be happy to get you a dessert or a drink or 2. Just ask for Jimmy or Jazmine and mention your review and we will be sure to take care of you!
My wife and I went to spend dinner here to celebrate her first day off after working for 30 days straight with overnights. While the ny strip we each had were good and the romancing the stone experience was fun, I was disappointed that a steak house could possibly be out of filet mignon. The decor was clean, lackluster but clean. Our waiter was a young man, whom was not very attentive to our table, instead chose to cater to his other 2 tables of families. There was maybe a total of 5 tables occupied in the restaurant on a Saturday evening. Probably our last time to Trappers, in favor of a more contemporary and friendly steak joint.
I wouldn’t recommend it, I had a business dinner and the service was very weak, the food wasn’t great (poor value) and the restaurant was smoky, need some ventilation. The manger apologized and knocked off some of the bill, but I doubt if I’ll be back.
We have been to Trapper’s many times before, the new year new us changes that have been made are not in their favor. Food was cold, mashed potatoes were not good - didn’t even resemble mashed potatoes, steamed veggies were soggy. Dessert was terrible. We will not be back.
JodiG, We are sorry to hear that you will not be returning. Our New Year New us changes are actually quite popular and positive compared to the way operations and guest service was handled previously. We do admit that we have had some moments that were not perfect, and we do rely on input and the ability to take care of issues when they occur. I am curious what you had for dessert?? I've never heard that it was terrible. Please contact me: Jimmy Whitley, GM, 303.248.2147
First experience at this restaurant, unique choices for selections of steak entrees, Romancing the Stone was excellent!, Great idea!
This was the first time I have been to Trapper's. We had happy hour at the bar before dinner. The calamari appetizer was cold. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. Our waiter Andy was a bit rude and seemed annoyed by questions. Dinner was good, but the mashed potatoes didn't look or taste like mashed potatoes. We had an early dinner reservation and by the time we left the place was filled with smoke that was very annoying. I would like to try Trappers again, I usually give places two visits before writing them off. Very nice views from the 4th floor.
Fantastic service, and amazing food. This will be a favorite spot for us in the future!
