If we can't tempt you from our regular menu, or daily specials, just ask your server and we'll see what we can come up with to please you. We like trying new restaurants and had not had the pleasure of dining at Trapeze yet. Burlingame has a bustling downtown and nice choices for food.
I first found the restaurant on Opentable (which I could not do without) and liked the menu, as it looked like I would have lots of gluten free options. I found out they have gluten free pasta, which I was very excited about and will try next time; the grilled salmon called to me on this trip. And it was excellent.
The service was attentive, thorough and thoughtful.
I look forward to going back.
We love this restaurant. The staff is wonderful, the food delicious and the restaurant is very willing to make changes to accommodate our diets. We have favorites on the menu but also enjoy trying some of the dishes off the specials menu. We go to Trapeze for date night and for special occasions. We consider it our “Cheers.”
This restaurant was so lovely--one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I had the filet mingon, as did another of my companions, and the third had the seafood paella. All three meals were wonderfully done. . We also shared the Eggplant Rollatini appetizer, and each had gelato for dessert. The meal was incredible, the staff was so kind and welcoming, and the ambiance was warm and memorable. I will absolutely be back. Thank you for a perfect evening!
The new chef and the menu he has created are fantastic. The secial dinner menu is always changing with exciting, delicious choices. We started with the special salad which tonight included melon, presucitto, lettuce, Gorgonzola cheese. My wife enjoyed the Alaskan scallops, and I loved the gnocchi.
Again we enjoyed friendly, efficient service.
Great place wonderful bartender. The food was great but my ceaser came out with blue cheese dressing what's up with that???? Good ambiance but a drunk next to us kept asking us questions etc. you would think they would cut him off but no give him more drinks. Bad bad. I'll go back but if I see him I'll leave. The service could have been better the bartender is very nice but inattentive. I was told they had new chefs.
2nd visit, excellent as usual. Love that the food comes out temperature hot, a huge plus!! Had the seafood linguini again, it was outstanding. Service was friendly and attentive. The only thing...they should serve better bread. Other than that, love this place.
Went here for a second time to celebrate a friend's birthday. We decided to order a bunch of small plate dishes and eat "family style". The table for four was too small for all of the plates, so the waiter brought over another table to be used as the serving table. Excellent food. Great variety. They were able modify an entree to accommodate my vegan daughter's particular requirements. Will go again.
Two of us went. One of us was lucky with the food - both entree and dessert was good (pasta with mushrooms and the molten cake). However, the other entree (gnocci) was a little bland and quite rich. The beignet dessert should be removed from the menu. It came out soggy and looks like the chocolate was injected into the beignet. Was almost inedible.

Is always very friendly, helpful, and efficient service. This is a gem in downtown Burlingame.
Food is fine but 100 degrees outside and they have the door/windows open and outdoor seating. I know they probably didn't expect it to be that hot, but they needed to make adjustments. I'm not sure if they even have AC at the place. Will only go back if they make HVAC improvements.
We always have a great meal with outstanding service at our favorite Burlingame restaurant. The dinner menu has recently undergone several changes with the addition of new dishes created and prepared by new chef, Jose Rodriguez. It has been exciting to visit each time and see what dishes have been added to the menu. All of them are delicious and perfectly prepared. My wife and I are looking forward to our next visit.
I ordered the sea bass without sauce, and the plate came with a sauce-drenched pile of vegetables. I asked the waiter why he brought me a side of sauce, and also these overly sauced vegetables, and he let me know that you cannot cook vegetables without sauce. Inconceivable. It was only after I sat on my phone to write a poor Yelp review, that he came back to ask if I wanted something else.
We deigned to notice the "lobster bisque sauce" that accompanied the so-called "Lemon Pepper Herb" seafood pasta my mother ordered. Cream based sauces don't sit well on her stomach, because she is lactose intolerant. Very misleading naming, honestly.
I chose the game hen as an alternative, as any other fish dishes on the menu could not be de-sauced. (What? Why not?) I also had my mother's pasta remade with just olive oil, lemon and herb whatnot. It took so long for the refires, even though we were the only seated table there at that point - everyone else was chatty bargoers. We ended up taking our food to go. The game hen was about average - like normally prepared salt-and-pepper chicken. The sides were regular boiled potatoes with minimal seasoning, and a regular steamed/boiled vegetable mix.
Overall average experience at a place I was excited to eat at. I would not come again.
Sometimes you just need to go back to an old favorite instead of looking around for a new thing. Trapeze has been around awhile, and for good reason - the food is consistently great/authentic and the service couldn't be better/friendlier. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and want to share it! Great branzino, amazing pastas, and a nice wine list (we liked the white by the glass so much, we ordered a bottle)! Always a friendly yet sophisticated ambience, love the local art displayed on the walls.
Trapeze hired a new chef (May 2017) and his ideas have filtered through to the menu. Expect the old favorites and new dishes. The (I'll get this wrong) organic airplane stuffed chicken breast was outstanding! The breast was cooked perfectly! All new presentation of the food with the same outstanding service. Nice and light dishes. Outstanding restaurant.
