Definitely phoning it in. While the website showed a normal menu (reason we chose it), we arrived to find a buffet and a price-fixed set menu. Buffet was $30/head for dishes that usually sell for $15-18, price fixed was batch-prepped dishes slammed on plates with little effort. Food was mediocre, server was someone's family member just pitching in, and the whole experience was a miserable way to drop $300 on a $130 meal.
Mother’s Day dinner. We made a reservation a few days in advance hoping to order off the regular menu. Without warning they changed it to a special menu with a buffet and a fixed price option. Half of our party is pescatarian and there were very few good options.
The staff was friendly and trying hard but the quality and variety of the food and the ambience were mediocre. I was hoping for more but the place had the general quality of a casual Greek diner rather than a nice restaurant.
Great food and service! Very welcoming. Mother's Day brunch was very good! Lots of food options! Food was very fresh! They even had an omelette station. They offered $5 bottomless mimosa. I would definitely go back and eat there again.
Traditional Greek dishes were excellent, seafood kabob special was good but under seasoned.
The restaurant is beautiful, atmosphere is lively.
Food was absolutely delicious! Everything that was served was attractive as well
The service was fine and the restaurant was not overly noisy, which is hard to find these days. However, the food was somewhat disappointing. Part of the problem is that the menu is inaccurate. The sides that were listed were not the same ones that were available, and it was just by chance that we were told this. It's not totally unreasonable that the menu gets somewhat out of date. However, the list of specials for the evening was also inaccurate. I ordered the stuffed squid, which was described as grilled squid stuffed with spinach and feta. Well, there was barely any feta in it but it was full of mushrooms, which I can't eat, and onions as well. My son ordered steak medium rare and it was deep purple throughout. Might expect this in France, but not in the US. He asked to have it cooked further and it still was not really medium rare. The rice pilaf was rather gummy. I will say however, the stewed green beans were rather good and my wife and daughter got lamb, which they liked and was cooked appropriately.
The food is great. Love the fish dishes and Greek specialties. Love the service from Tatiana, George, and Tony too.
Excellent, authentic food
Horrible experience for “brunch”. The mimosas were horrid, the food dry and tasteless (it’s shouldn’t be that hard to cook bacon) and the service was the worst I’ve experienced in quite some time. An embarrassing effort.
great service, fantastic food and very nice atmosphere! can't wait to go back
We decided to visit after hearing great feedback from my boss. We made our reservation for 2 on a Saturday evening in honor of my BF's Birthday. We were warmly greeted, seated quickly and everything we ordered from the drinks, to the appetizers to the entrees arrived fast! Our server, Olga was the best! She was honest and very kind. Not to mention she was clearly impressed that we knew how to pronounce everything on the menu (we're a well traveled couple), but moreover, she was more than willing to answer any questions her guests had. I'm so glad we took her advice & ordered the dinner specials as our entrees. Pork tenderloin kebob & Seafood kebob did not disappoint! We recieved more than our money's worth and left the establishment very satisfied. My BF & I agreed that Trapezaria is amazing & is so much better than Mykonos. We'll definitely be back!
We had a wonderful meal with friends from out of town, one of whom lived in Greece for several years and declared the dinner perfectly Greek! Our server was helpful and obliging as were all the staff who came to our table. The grilled whole bronzino was as delicious as usual, the lamb chops succulent (although a couple were overly fatty with not a lot of meat), and the salads and dips fresh and generous. We have eaten here at least a dozen times over the past couple of years and enjoy every visit.
Great service, good food, great decor!!! i will definitely be back for another round of Sunday brunch
We eat here regularly, never disappointed. They are always accommodating for our special dietary requests. Staff always makes us feel welcome.
celebrated a Birthday here and had a wonderful time!
The food was tasty, well prepared and presented. The service was excellent. The venue tends to be noisy and cold. Not much ambience!
Wonderful Greek and Mediterranean food in downtown Rockville. Portions are quite generous, and the servers do their best to keep you happy. It is fun seeing the flaming cheese Saganaki being prepared, even for another table.
We were there at 6 PM on a Saturday night, one of the first few in. By 7 PM it was getting crowded and the noise level increased. If you are sensitive to the noise level, it is better to eat earlier or on a less popular night.
As usual, the buffet was delicious. I especially like the spinach and feta stuffed chicken. The $5 bottomless mimosa is a great value.
Trapezaria is my favorite Greek restaurant. I've been coming here since it opened. Definitely worth the visit. It's not a quick restaurant so sit down, enjoy the ambiance and delicious food, and slow down for a meal. It's worth it.
We decided to try this restaurant for the 1st time with another couple for Valentine's Day. We were disappointed upon our arrival to find that they were serving only a fixed price 4 course menu rather than their normal menu for $45 per person. No one, including open table, provided this information when the reservation was made.
Before our cocktails were brought to the table, our waitress brought the 1st 2 courses of the meal which included hummus and a small side salad. The hummus course proved to be the best dish of the night . The salad was room temperature and bland.
The entrees were the only available choice for the meal and consisted of 5 options. We tried 4 of the different options between us and all were disappointed with everyone. Each and every entree included soggy tasteless green beans and under cooked potatoes. Dessert was a soggy philo dough with a custard filling
It was bad. To add the final insult to injury, an 18% gratuity was included when we were simply a table of 4. Furthermore, the wait staff decided to clean up the rest of the restaurant while our table and two others completed their meal service. I'm not in the habit of writing bad reviews but I will never go back to this restaurant.
Superb Service. No pressure from the staff even though we were waiting for some of the people in the group to show up. An inviting and pleasant place to dine. Great food. Would definitely dine there again
Horrible service with undercooked food - not a winning combo. On the plus side, you may not need to make a reservation as this place was nearly empty on an early Sunday afternoon, so every cloud...
No thank you on going back.
The food was quite good as was the value. The restaurant used to serve their bread along a tray of olives, hummus and I believe an olive oil mix. Missed that much. We had a good time but wish we could have stayed longer but the restaurant was extremely cold.
I've had some good dinners at Trapezaria and some average ones. The service is always great and they seem to be very appreciative of the patronage, but sometimes the food will miss the mark. For instance, we dined there with friends and had some of the dips for appetizers- excellent. The wine came out right on time and was great. I had ordered the lamb shank over orzo pasta which was excellent. However, two people in our group ordered the vegetarian dream entree which arrived at room temperature. Another one of our group had ordered a special that was suppose to be shrimp, mussels and scallops in a tomato based sauce over fettuccine pasta but when it arrived it had no mussels and it was over spaghetti pasta. Still good, but not exactly as advertised. Both of those were kitchen mistakes and not the server's fault. If the kitchen starts to run out of the ingredients for a special, eighty-six the thing and tell the servers- don't try to "make do." For these reasons, I reluctantly gave them only a "good" on the food. Hopefully, the kitchen will get their act together for the next time I go to have dinner there.
Food is consistently excellent and a value for the price/quality and portions.
We had reservations on a Friday and arrived early following a movie. It wasn't crowded and we were seated immediately. Had a couple of Zeos Dark beers that very tasty along with a soup and octopus tentacle appetizer. Fantastic, not chewy and great with the hummus and diced veggies. Very tender. Main meal included the Bronzini that was served whole and was tender, flaky and not dry. The Greek lasagna was OK, but there wasn't much meat and the noodles included macaroni in the layers. Very starch heavy but tasted good overall. You will be treated to bread wedges and our server, who may have also been the manager/owner (we did not ask) brought us a desert and shots at the end of the meal. This is very nice place to eat and easy to hold a personal conversation without feeling like you need to be very quiet. Service was fast and spot on. My wife asked for lemon for her fish and it was delivered in triple seconds later. We will go back to sample some of the other menu items.
I was greeted so kindly when I arrived at the restaurant with my date. Olga took excellent care of us and the food was not only authentic, but fresh and delicious.
The waitress was cleaning the table & droped a soiled fork on my husbands hat, picked it up, saying nothing & walked away. His hat had food on it from the fork. When I took it to her she said “I’ll clean it off”. Isaid to the owner who was sitting there how disappointing I was that she had originally not said a word. He said “ she was a good person & had a good heart”. That of course has nothing to do with it. She obviously should have apologized and taken the hat to clean it off. The owner considered himself right. We will not go back.
The food was not as warm as it should have been.
The service was very good - attentive, friendly.
We love this restaurant. The fish dinners are fresh and delicious and the service is great. This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
The staff was very attentive and pleasant. This was our first time here and I have to say, I was pleasantly suprised.
We love this authentic Greek spot. The food is always fresh and just like Greece where we visited recently.
I have been here about 8 or 9 times and will continue to patronize here
Trapezaria is one of our favorites. They have convenient, "FREE" parking in the rear. Their trio of dips is terrific. We shared a nice bottle of Greek wine. We teased them about having more raisins in their rice pudding dessert. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
We went for the Sunday brunch buffet. The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. The staff was friendly. An excellent value at the price of $15.95. Will definitely return.
The food is fantastic with enormous portions. Grilled octopus was the best I have ever had. The décor was pleasant and waitstaff were very attentive. But as the evening progressed, the decibel level became overwhelming to the point we couldn't hear each other across the table.
The best Greek Buffet I have ever had. Service is exceptional. You can't go wrong, especially their Sunday brunch.
Authentic Greek food with all your favorites. You have to remember to save room for dessert because portion sizes are above average and it all tastes so good it is hard to have leftovers. The service is friendly and help you to speak the menu language.
We eat here once a month whenever we take another couple to dinner. The food and service is consistently good and we know our friends will be have a great time and eat well.
Very relaxed environment, waiter was relaxed almost to a point of rudeness. I am probably less than half his age though so maybe thats the reason?
With the wonderful Manny at the helm, a more memorable evening could not be had!
From the delicious dolomades to crisp Greek meatballs to the authentic salad with generous feta and olives, everything coming from the kitchen was carefully- even lovingly- prepared. The moussaka was just as great as usual in this family run restaurant. The retsina wine was unusually fruity and light and perfectly chilled as it should be.
And don’t forget the desserts. Luscious!!!
