Trapezaria Ratings and Reviews
It started poorly and went downhill from there. We had been before and really liked it - authentic Greek cuisine and well prepared. This visit however, despite a reservation made well in advance, we waited an unusual time for a table and were first shown to a very cramped 4 top right next to the door. Asking kindly to move we were then seated by the windows - lovely spot - and the waiter appeared quickly, took drink orders and promptly disappeared for a prolonged time. A starter was ordered and came in a reasonable time, then another waiter disappearance. when finally we ordered entrees, we waited. And waited. Despite asking repeatedly about the status of our food we finally had to leave to make a 9:15 movie. Not an early show. Whereupon a hurried boxing of meals occurred and we left with our food to, comped, but to do what...eat it in the movie theater? Sorry folks, we won't be back.
First trip to Trapezaria was a good one. The ambiance is relaxed, service good and noise levels were low enough to enjoy conversation without raised voices. The Greek cuisine varied between fair and excellent. Try the trio of dips - they are outstanding, as are the stuffed grape leaves. Pasticho and Moussaka were ok, the lamb much better.
We go to Trapezaria quite often and have gotten to know the owners and wait staff. They always treat us with great care. I have a table I really like and always ask for it when I make my Open Table reservation. Last weekend they mistakenly set it for a different party, but when we showed up they reset the table to we could have it. The food is good Greek food, with some excellent specials. The lamb last weekend was fantastic. They will also make changes to how food is prepared if you have special dietary needs. They are so accommodating! This is one of our "go to" restaurants in Rockville when we want to grab a good and fun bite with friends.
They have a very creative menu and I had an excellent lamb dinner. The restaurant has very nice daily specials. I really enjoyed their walnut cake with whipped cream! The waiter and owner/manager were very nice and gave us good service! The friends we came with really enjoyed themselves and will definitely return with us at a later date!!!
Food on buffet was good but cold
Service was spotty
There were 10 of us and only 2 other people in restaurant and we could never find our waitress. Spent good deal of time waiting for her.
Third time I was here. Dinner was good. First experience with buffet was okay but service was not good.
This time was bad and annoying trying to get any service
I have a dining out group of 10 to 15 people and meet several times a month
Although the food was good, tasty, the lack of service was bad
When we dine out, the service i s as important as the food.
We will not come here again and I will tell others with large groups about our experience
The restaurant was practically empty and I can see why
Went there for a weekend lunch/employee interview. Good, fresh food; welcoming service; nice buffet that includes salmon and lamb. I had two types of eggplant, spanokopita, and salads.
The food was excellent, the service (Tatiana) was good.
As I didn't get seconds, one plate of the above probably didn't justify the price of $25.oo for the buffet, but i can see paying it if you go for meat and fish dishes and have lots to eat :-)
Baklawa was excellent for dessert.
This is clearly a family restaurant that cares about their customers, quality of food and community. The owner personally greeted us as we arrived and sat us. The waitress reminded me of a very friendly aunt trying her best to make everyone happy. They served us complimentary hummus, olives and pita while we looked through the menu. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous! We both had items not even on the menu, lamb special and octopus dinner. We will go back.
Strongly recommend the fish specials - delicious whole fish. Also recommend the octopus offering - not your typical tiny animals, but a well presented, well seasoned and very tender part of a tentacle (sorry for those turned off by this description, but, take courage and try it!).
The other offerings I've tried, for those less adventurous, are very good as well. Pita bread, hummus, olives and olive oil are presented at the table first, with cocktails and before the meal.
The restaurant continues to provide excellent food and certainly in generous amounts. A wide menu gives plenty of options. The octopus is especially good. The only negative is the noise level. At time it is hard to carry on a conversation if other tables are talking in loud voices.
It's not easy to find authentic Greek food in Rockville. The octopus appetizer and the lamb kabobs were okay. We had ordered the Half Chicken entree, but the dish that was served was two chicken thighs and a chicken breast. We showed this to the server and asked if the half chicken was not available today. The server went to ask the chef about it. She returned to explain that the half chicken is served as two thighs and a breast. She offered to bring us other chicken parts to add to the dish, or for some more chicken to take home or a free dessert to make up for not serving a half chicken. We declined. The overall dining experience was okay. There are many other restaurants in Rockville to try.
