Trancas Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We found this place on Open Table when we were looking for a late lunch / early dinner before a show at the Lincoln Theatre in Yountville. I thought the ambience was nice. Unfortunately, the food was just okay for me. We got the calamari which was nice! The vegetables in the calamari made a nice addition to the order. We also got the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers which was just okay for me. We only ate a couple of them and left the rest alone. My partner got the sirloin steak which he liked. I got the chuck burger which was first way overcooked (med well) when I requested rare. They redid it and it was seared and raw on the inside (the middle was still cold). I ended up only eating a couple of bites and we took the rest to go. I ended up tossing the burger in the trash afterwards.
While the food was just "okay," we did love the drinks. The bartender made some nice drinks! The old fashioned we had was absolutely delicious! We ended up getting another one, it was so good.
We love steak and so we had high hopes based on the reviews we read. I don't know that we would go back for the steaks. However, if we're in the area, we definitely would come back for the old fashioned cocktails.
Ate here after going to Safeway Open at Silverado. It is only about 10 minutes from the course. If parking lot is full you can park in the lot to the east as the medical offices close before 6pm.
Nice booths for parties of 4 or less. Had the Prime Rib with a baked potato. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare and served with au jus and horseradish, both creamy and grated.
Chocolate Decadence cake was perfect dessert with coffee to top off a perfect meal.
Will be back next year!
Well, we have dined all over the Napa Valley for several years; I just don't know how we missed this place. This is truly a Neighborhood Gem. This is our second time dining here and we highly recommend it. It is a typical Steakhouse with steakhouse fare but at very reasonable prices. While prices are very reasonable , the food is excellent. We tried the Ribeye Steak and it was tender and perfectly cooked and , most importantly, delicious! We had the Short Rib- falling off the bone and just delicious. We tried a special that was excellent (Beef Tenderloin Scallapini served with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus and a Wine Mushroom Gravy). We found the mashed potatoes, french fries, and side vegetables, were perfectly cooked and delicious. I should note that Entree's are served with your choice of soup or salad. You can also choose potatoes mashed, baked or fries. Wow, if I sound enthusiastic , it's because I am. We highly recommend this restaurant. Bon Appetite!
Both my husband and I ordered the Prime Rib - very, very good taste to the dinner. Horseradish was served with the prime rib, both creamy and raw - that was just the icing on the cake - made a really good meal even more enjoyable! Server was attentive to our table. Overall, just a really great dinner experience, our best of a 10 day vacation!
I was in town visiting with friends and saw great reviews on this steakhouse. It was everything and more. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We also appreciated the quick service. All the plates were cleaned. Definitely would go back.
When I came here the first time, I really liked my shrimp Louie and my friend enjoyed whatever he had which I forget what it was… But I came back later for the prime rib and it wasn't great at all. It seemed over tenderized and the baked potato needed to be cooked more.
On our last night in the area, we wanted a nice place to celebrate a wonderful vacation; we were hoping for a nice steakhouse. Well this was not it. Yes, steakhouse is a part of their name but it was more like a glorified bar. The food was good but the service was not good. What appeared to be the manager, took care of us. Less than stellar.
We have been at Trancas Steakhouse many times. The food is consistently very good, the service prompt, courteous and efficient, and the ambiance very pleasant. The prime rib is excellent. Ideal for a casual, relaxed dinner with friends.
If one is so inclined, the bar jumps with music. It does not interfere with quiet dining in the restaurant.
Great ambience and great service. The food was delicious from the great bread to the apple pie a last mode dessert 😊 We had the prime rib which was wonderful and seasoned well. They will not disappoint. Will definitely be back.
The Trancas Steakhouse is a local gem that is often overlooked as "ordinary" by the uppity locals and tourists, alike. I love the atmosphere, the service, the food, the prices and the feeling of a midwestern roadhouse I get everytime I'm there. If you want a nice steak, a great French dip sandwich, the best fires, or prime rib - don't waste time or money elsewhere!
We were celebrating our 45th anniversary. Going to this restaurant was a great choice! Our server, Sergio, upon finding out that it was such a special occasion for us, treated us with a little surprise. The food, the service and the folks that work there made this a memorable event. Thank you, Trancas Steakhouse!!
