Visited Napa for the weekend and saw the restaurant while driving around town. Viewed the website and decided to make reservations. Although packed, we were seated immediately and were served bread and beverage orders were taken. Allowed time to view the menu and ordered the specialty: Prime Rib. It was delicious. The only downside is we were seated below an air vent which cooled our food faster than usual. The staff were pleasant.
It was ok...our server was darling and was trying to do his best. The steaks were ok, drinks are cheap, Caesar salad wasn't anything special. It lacked dressing and plenty of salad ribs on the plate. It looked like they were caught in the headlights, lots of people to take care of and not enough help. They forgot our soup, again, too many diners and not enough help. The booths are worn out(need new cushions), and our table top was dirty. Oh, but the wine glasses were clean. Like I said, really needs to be cleaned and remodeled. OK neighborhood joint, don't think we will be back. sorry.
Terrible service, outrageously overpriced considering the establishment is a dingy old bar, and uncomfortable booths. I would have gladly paid the $25 for my TINY sirloin had the place been more upscale and clean. After all, I was in Sonoma and I am very well aware of the high dining prices. The waiter ignored us and argued with me about the doneness of my steak, which was supposed to be medium but was instead over cooked shoe leather. My husband ordered the spaghetti because he couldn't bring himself to pay more than $20 for an entrée at a place like that. What a joke. It looked like a watery, frozen meal plopped on a plate with a mushroom on top. The good - my son's burger was fantastic. My one piece of broccoli and itty bitty carrot were very good. The young man serving water was the only employee who paid attention to us. In fact, he cleared our table, brought more napkins, brought more silverware (wasn't enough on the table) and brought me the manager, who by the way, was very apologetic and sincerely wanted us back. No way. She did comp the terrible steak and watery spaghetti, which was very nice. I will NEVER return here. It's a dump with a loud bar, dirty bathrooms and a popcorn machine in the middle of everything. Not my idea of a fine dining establishment considering there are tons of other places to choose from. My mistake for not making reservations somewhere else beforehand as it was a holiday weekend, which was the only reason we visited Trancas. Yuck, never again.
Service slow once restaurant started filling up. Requested birthday services in my reservation, and three times while there...had to stall dessert order trying to get the birthday song going. Hostess got snippy. But as usual the food was outstanding! Been a customer here for decades.
We love this place. Nice local place to eat. The food is great and the service is always good.
My wife and I have been coming to Trancas Steakhouse for years. I took her there for Valentine's Day just past. Food still excellent, service good, but the background music was hard rock retro, played so loud it was difficult to talk. We asked our waiter to turn it down, but someone soon turned it back up. We love the place; we just don't recall having the background music so loud and so retro-rock (Lynyrd Skinner for dinner?)
Had reservation - was seated next to the door. 20 minutes to get a waiter and had to ask the greeter to find us someone to take the order. Ordered everything at once sure to wait, and never saw it waiter again, do we had to ask someone to get him so we could get our check. Very, very disappointed since we had heard great things.
Here we are again (6th visit). Everything we have eaten here has been excellent. We have had the Salmon, Ribeye Steak,Lamb Shank,Chicken with Mushroom Risotto,Braised Short Rib,Prime Rib and Petrale Sole. All of these dishes were excellent as well as delicious. What more is there to say- Highly recommended. Bon Appetit!
This is our go-to place for birthdays in our family. The taste and quality of the meal in always consistently fantastic.
Made the reservations for my brothers' birthdays. All 6 of us enjoyed our food and drinks and the meals were reasonably priced. I would say they are good for any occasion and the bar was lively!
The service was superb!! The food was very good.
We were seated in corner next to back door. The Keroke band was setting up during our dinner and opened the door many times and it was freezing. This was not a pleasant experience.
Our second time here. Really like this place! Food great! Just a all around nice place to get a good meal!
Excellent and fast service. It was very kid friendly and the food!
WONDERFUL dining experience, GREAT waiter (Jit) and DELICIOUS food. BEST lobster we’ve ever eaten!
Great evening at a "locals" steak house; good vibes from other guests; good service and yummy food. thanks
Decent menu, great staff, enjoyable time, locals place.
This was our fifth visit to this restaurant . The food is excellent and at reasonable prices. On this occasion, our server was Carleen and she was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food and service. Bon Appetite!
Jit and Jesus made our dining experience a GREAT one!
Initial service was slow and took a while to get waited on. Steaks were slightly overcooked (ordered medium rare on both). Good basic salad included with the order was nice, as well as the side order. Decent value for the money. Good wines by the glass.
Love the Trancas Steak House and love going back for great comfort food, nice booths, down home dining, and casual atmosphere! Service is terrific always.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent and the service as well; however on this occasion it was exceptionally slow-not sure why. On this occasion, we enjoyed the Salmon and a Patrale Sole dish- both very good. Hopefully, the slow service was an anomaly.
We’re REALLY loving this restaurant ! The food makes you feel good! AND it is DELICIOUS!
We will definitely be back!
Awesome experience and if we’re in the area again will definitely eat here again. Best pork chop I’ve ever had. It was stuffed with blue cheese and bacon. OMG it was amazing.
Old school restaurant with good vibe. Great price on prime rib!
We have visited this restaurant several times and each time walk away highly satisfied with both the food and service ,not to mention value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great food and drinks with good friends!
We thought, this place is too loud for us! Their prime rib? .....definitely not the best, it was just okay! The waitress was kind and really helpful!
We found this place on Open Table when we were looking for a late lunch / early dinner before a show at the Lincoln Theatre in Yountville. I thought the ambience was nice. Unfortunately, the food was just okay for me. We got the calamari which was nice! The vegetables in the calamari made a nice addition to the order. We also got the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers which was just okay for me. We only ate a couple of them and left the rest alone. My partner got the sirloin steak which he liked. I got the chuck burger which was first way overcooked (med well) when I requested rare. They redid it and it was seared and raw on the inside (the middle was still cold). I ended up only eating a couple of bites and we took the rest to go. I ended up tossing the burger in the trash afterwards.
While the food was just "okay," we did love the drinks. The bartender made some nice drinks! The old fashioned we had was absolutely delicious! We ended up getting another one, it was so good.
We love steak and so we had high hopes based on the reviews we read. I don't know that we would go back for the steaks. However, if we're in the area, we definitely would come back for the old fashioned cocktails.
