We arrived 40 minutes before our reservation. There was no seating in the bar. They would not seat us early even though there were plenty of tables available. It is their policy. They were concerned about server availability. We said we do not care if we get service we just want to sit down. I have an injured hip and was forced to stand for 40 minutes for no logical reason except, it is the policy. This place needs new management

The food and drinks were fantastic. They had a huge list of fruity, "island" drinks that are to die for. The service was awesome and the waiter never let our drinks get down too low before asking if we wanted something else to drink or just a refill.

To succeed as a Polynesian theme restaurant, Trader Vic's must have the ambience that takes you to another place in the world. Several times in the past, Trader Vic's in other parts of the world have tried to become mainstream, everyday fine restaurants, with good good, but not so good ambience - and failed. This new Trader Vic's in Portland, replacing the wonderful old Trader Vic's that was in The Benson, has succeeded. For a Trader Vic's fan of the old days, the only thing I would now ask for is to train up your wait staff and return the tableside preparation of a few flambe dinner dishes that you used to have - today's diners would really go for it, and it would add to the uniqueness of Trader Vic's.

Rack of lamb, ordered rare, was excellent and not over cooked. Tasty dish. Beef tenderloin and shrimp, also very flavorful. Service was top-notch. Really enjoyed the evening. Friendly staff!

My wife and I have been to Trader Vics multiple times and it never disappoints! Great food, great atmosphere, great servers, great everything. Our server went out of her way to help us with some food allergy issues by asking the chef if certain ingredients were present in some of the sauces. This led to an amazing dinner that we didn't have to be concerned about. Overall, this is a place we will go back to time and time again.

We got there a bit early... The bar and restaurant were very busy, some kind of singles event. They could not seat us right away, which gave us an opportunity to try the bar! Despite being very busy, bartenders were very fast and nice, both of us liked our drinks and appreciated the live Hawaiian music. When it came time for our reservation, they seated us promptly at a very nice table. Waiter was there with tasty nutty crackers, explained the specials, and allowed us to settle in. Appetizer was delicious chicken lettuce wraps and spicey 1944 Mai Tai. We ordered steak filet and volcano shrimp- outstanding! Nice portions! For dessert, the crème brûlée was bland, pretty disappointing as I expect dessert to be the meal's coup de grâce.

"really like trader vics, the atmosphere is is a get away to the islands. " Food is very tasty, we had the salmon which is cooked in the smoke oven and the duck. Hmmm I would not order that again a little tuff. I have also had the lamb which was delious. Mai Tai are awesome as i would hope since Trader Vics was the original. Plus they have expanded on the traditional with a twist which are great too. We will go again

Love T V. 1944 Mai Tai is the best. Terrific Caesar Salad and the best MahiMahi ever; cooked perfectly, large portion, so moist and flavorful. Pineapple Upside-down Cake was great. The wine list while not extensive is varied with a selection for every taste. We will return.
