Love this place!! The bar for 🍸 cocktails and Appetizers. The view of the harbor as well as the bay at sunset 🌞, and the main dining room for dinner. Excellent menu and love the service.
I would recommend Trader Vic's bar over the restaurant. Nice views, good drinks and bar snacks. The sit-down restaurant is expensive; you're paying for the ambiance and the view. Service this last visit was inattentive. The waiter disappeared and others filled in for him when we asked for a couple of extras and for the check. Still, overall I'd recommend Trader Vic's for an occasional visit for those of us nostalgic for the 1950s and 60s.
Awesome ! The mai raid were spot ok and the fish was great !
Delicious as always! Trader Vic's never d8sappoints!
Overall, food was mediocre and restaurant seems very tired...felt like we were back in the 60’s (unless that is the affect the restaurant wants). Mai Tai’s were good, but over-loaded with crushed ice. Server was great though...very friendly and professional.
Window overlooking the bay dining on spectacular food. The Beef & Reef is flavorful and a must when at Trader Vics.
We went to Brunch at Trader Vic’s. This is a newer service they are providing. The music was outstanding, the service and friendliness of the staff was as always truly wonderful. At first my meal came to the table wrong (hence the 3 rating) but it was quickly remedied by staff and was quite good. My partners meal was ok but just ok. Drinks were excellent, coffee fantastic. I hope that as their menu evolves they might think about a few more options with less sea food for breakfast. I will definitely go back and bring friends. I really do love this place.
Great tiki experience! Decor is out of this world, drinks are top shelf and the food was surprisingly good. Vic's 1944 Mai Tai, Seyhorse and Trader Vic's Grog were our choice of drinks and all were made with quality ingredients and mixed with precision.
Shitake BBQ Salmon and Thai Curry Prawns were our dinner choices. Both meals were excellent.
Only negatives, our waitress was very good but stretched far too thin. We were there for 2 hours, most of that time was just spent waiting for service or for food. We could have been in and out in an hour, maybe an hour and 15 minutes if they had more staff.
The other negative was the noise level. We were seated at a premium table by the window overlooking the marina. Beautiful sunset view but there were a couple of groups around us that were so loud it was deafening.
When we couldn't take it any longer, the manager was beside himself seemingly bracing himself for noise complaints. But we just wanted our check so we could get on the road. It wasn't the restaurant's fault. I wasn't familiar with the layout of the seating and didn't realize there were two other dining areas that were much quieter.
He offered to comp dessert but we really needed to just go at this point. He comp'd my dinner which was unexpected and appreciated but really not necessary.
In their defense, it was a Sunday night before a holiday. It seems unavoidable that restaurants are not staffed for the additional push that comes with that dynamic.
We certainly recommend Trader Vic's and we'll definitely be back. Just be sure to request a table away from the bar in the general dining area.
Just think this is a slice of paradise and wish I could dine there more often. Lico Mocc. Tropical drinks. Love it!
Amazing views, food, ambiance and variety of mixed drinks. Very kid friendly and Gluten Free friendly also.
Always a treat to be at Trader Vic’s in Emeryville with great drinks, great service and great food!
Food was good, not remarkable. Pricey for what it was. However, the service was remarkable in that we never went wanting but saw the same server only once. Went for lunch and the menu was limited. Would want to go back for dinner
First time guest. Drove an hour & a half to come here for my birthday. Did NOT disappoint. We had appetizers, main dish, cocktails and desserts. Each dish was better than the last. Staff are attentive and pleasant. The decor was amazing. Pictures don't do it justice! If you have a chance to bring someone special, I highly recommend to anyone looking for something different and exotic.
Tiki and Trader's go together. It's a shame that all the Trader Vic's restaurants have closed with only a couple exceptions, this being one. (Atlanta is only other US location). We remember the treat of pupu platters in the past and were sad when our local closed in the early 80s. The good news is that Emeryville's Maitai lives on and is wonderful. The location is terrific overlooking the harbor, the service is great. The only disappointment was the much smaller menu of far less interesting choices. While my salmon was cooked in their impressive clay pots, husband's kung pao chicken was just fine, tho he did like the little chinese mushrooms. I just can't take a restaurant with chow mein terribly seriously. Go for the view, drinks and festive decor and service, not for outstanding food.
This was the perfect place for our anniversary. The food came out at the perfect times. The drinks and food were delicious. Our only two criticisms are we had to ask for water and the large group next to us took most of our server's attention which delayed ordering a second round of drinks. But otherwise, it was an absolutely perfect experience. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.
Trader Vics is amazing. I wish there was one in the east bay area. The cocktail seminar events are a must
We always look forward to the ribs when at the Lounge during happy hopur. For some reason, this time, the ribs were NOT as they have been in the past...it really seemed like they took ribs from the day before and reheated them....not juicy, too much BBQ sauce....NOT GOOD,
Please bring back the ribs as they should be cooked.
The new hostess is very friendly and our waitress in the bar was good......but the ribs disappointed!!
Trader Vic’s is one of my favorite restaurants that we frequent 4+ times a year (too expensive so we go for special occasions) and it’s always been exceptional. However our last visit was very disappointing. Drinks - I’ve never had cocktails anywhere with so much ice. When the server brought our drinks the ice was higher than the liquid. For $12 + for a cocktail, there was wayyy too much ice and barely any kick. I’ve never had a bad drink at TV’s until this visit. Some of the food was very disappointing too. The crab artichoke dip has changed and it’s now a very small portion for a lot of $$. Our favorite pork sliders were almost all bun & very little meat. We had to ask for the crackers and peanut dip which are usually always on the table & we he had to ask several times for refills. The dinner portions seemed smaller too. I always get the Mahi Mahi & it was a lot smaller than before. Another surprise was how bad our waitress was. She kept forgetting when we asked for things which was extremely annoying & a table of 4 had to share ONE MENU, they were short menus!!! We spent almost $300 and all of us were disappointed. We will be back & we really hope this was just a fluke bad experience.
Were there several years ago and was great. Lacking this time won't be back. Was looking for the menu you presented on line, couldn't find it. Disappointed. I will say the Chillean Sea Bass was outstanding.
We really enjoyed the rack of lamb and the original 1944 Trader Vics Mai Tao.
we made a reservation and upon arrival to the restaurant , we were told we would have to give up our table at a certain time----not the best way to start the occasion.
we were attended to promptly for drinks and appetizers, and they arrived very quickly. dinner was another story-we waited nearly an hour from our appetizer to our dinner. when they food did arrive, it seemed as tho it had been sitting for a bit, as it was lukewarm at best. filets were overcooked, sides were nearly cold. service staff was very nice but not very attentive. restaurant was not crowded so uncertain what the reason. overall not a great experience for the price. i won't go again, nor will i recommend.
Lovely setting. Outstanding service and excellent food.
We celebrated our anniversary here and it was wonderful. The vintage-tiki vibe was perfect. Food was outstanding. Even had my first Mai-Tai which was fantastic. Great for any occasion.
The Chilean Sea Bass was excellent!! And the mai tai is always a good go to drink!
Our view was fantastic, items on menu was delicious. We we're there celebrating my new book coming out. . .such a great moment. Service was personal and thoughtful on the part of our wait person.
We had a fun time with friends, and got to say goodbye to Claudette!
The mai tais old way were great as usual, and the Chilean Sea Bass was delicious.
Great food, service and ambiance.
We ate in the bar. Service wasn't great but the ambiance made up for it. Our dessert took forever to get. Waitress and waiter weren't focused.
From my arrival at the valet the experience was superb with great greetings from everyone to fantastic service to marvelous food. Just a great experience
Fried rice and Mai Tais were great, the curry was ver disappointing with little to no flavor.
We were absolutely Happy with our food, the service, the amazing view and fine dining experience.
A favorite restaurant of ours. Dropped by to leave a gift for the wonderful hostess Claudette who has retired (sadly we both had to work on the days she would be there). Claudette was definitely a reason why we visited Trader Vic's...but we definitely will be visiting often. Great staff, food and setting.
Food was delicious and the service particularly good--not intrusive, but still attentive.
Wonderful views and ambiance. Food was too salty.
Always love Vic's, great ambiance. Drinks are top notch and they really kill it with their beef dishes.
Slow service at times seeing others get severed before us though we arrived first. Food & drinks were great. Servers were very nice.
It was really fun to be back after many years but I was really disappointed that our small group of friends went to spend some time together, purposefully chose a place with a generally quieter dining room, and got there to find that they had rented out the entire dining area to a private party and we were assigned seating in the bar/lounge which became louder and louder with holiday celebrants. I would have suggested that we leave but we had no other reservations and there is nothing nearby. I think restaurants should contact folks and inform them if the restaurant experience is going to be impacted by a large party occupation of dining room, etc where diners would normally expect to be seated.
Initially they put 3 people at a table for two and I had to complain to the manager. Then we were sitted in the bar area which was too loud to hear the person across the table.
Eventually the manager put us at a great table in the dining room, but the evening started off terribly.
Always a treat to dine at this classic Bay Area restaurant. The atmosphere is outstanding and fun.
On a sad note, we found out the wonderful hostess Claudette will be retiring at the end of the year! Will definitely book another visit before she leaves!
Food was terrible. Service was too obtrusive. Interior, while festive seemed I need of a good cleaning and update.
