Trader Vic's - Emeryville
Great place. But, why no points given?
Lovely window table with view, food delicious, waiter friendly and attentive, overall great celebration for our grandson's birthday and finishing 1st year at Cal.
I've visited trader vics many times over the years as a lover of tiki drinks, amazing food, and the waterside view.
Drinks are still amazing as is the decor. Being in a "themed" restaurant that is still classy and not kitchy is wonderful.
It seems like through the resurgence of tiki in people's minds, the restaurant and bar are more crowded than ever and trader vics is taking advantage of that revenue. Service has never been great, especially at a tall table in the bar, but now table service is getting especially thin. I think our server had 8 tables. That's nuts!
Biggest relatively recent addition that lowers the rank of Trader Vics in my mind are the 3 huge TVs in the bar. When visiting a classy restaurant where you want to be immersed in everything tiki, the last thing you want is sports bar atmosphere. Literally every other classless bar and chain restaurant has constant sports on the TV. Can't the place selling more $15 cocktails than $3 beers not have a TV, please!
We fined at Trader Vic’s for Mother’s Day, the buffet was simply fantastic and the service very good as well.
Best Mother's Day brunch; excellent and varied selections, lots of choices at the raw bar, all perfectly prepared and presented. Fantastic tiki decor ... not tacky but instead fun and quite beautiful. Great tiki cocktails in iconic mugs ... I bought 3!!
Love Trader Vic's, can't wait to return
Usually Trader Vic's is wonderful. On Mother's Day, they sat us in the bar area nearby a horribly loud family. Before long, the youngest child was literally trying to pull the pictures off the wall. Neither parent knew how to quiet the kids. My tension level rose to the point that we asked the waitress to move us. Because we were moved (and another family also wanted to move), the last part of the meal was somewhat better. Left a negative impression on how Trader Vic's don't manage problems like this!!
Lack of a dress code, or lack of insisting on smart casual has degraded the overall Trader Vic’s experience. Shorts and baseball caps are so tacky and should not be allowed.
Every thing was wonderful. My wife & i ENJOYED dinner for our 35th anniversary VERY MUCH. we will be back for sure. It was our first time there won't be our last. Thank you see you soon
Trader Vic’s keeps removing favorite dishes from its menu. I really was disappointed that I no longer can enjoy my favorite Bengal Seafood Salad. Another fav Ham and eggs Hawaiian disappeared long ago. TVs is now a boring restaurant
Trader Vic’s has been an iconic restaurant for our family. We were so disappointed when the TV left Chicago. We had so much fun. Angie the hostess was fantastic and the Guava Tai was delicious!
This is the best Restaurant in the bay area as far as i'm concerned.
Best service, not a bad table in the house,Staff very very friendly, cocktails and food
Fun decor and beautiful views, but the food was disappointing. Everything we ordered was mediocre, at best. Service was a little slow.
We had 3 ribeyes along with other items. 2 medium and one medium rare, they came out medium well, well and medium. Not the first time they have done it either.
Food was tasty and enjoyed it otherwise.
Super friendly staff. Free valet parking. Excellent food, views, and decor. Live the wood fired Chinese ovens, adds a unique work flavor. Very good!!! Awesome drink menu, love the Pina colada in the coconut mug!
Great place and atmosphere. The drinks are pricey, but really good. The food is pricey and ok. Go for drinks, appetizers and the view! Good service too. Staff is always friendly and available.
Great food great atmospher nice scenery pleasant servers strong drinks
Family was in town, it’s a great spot to get together and relax with good food and drink.
You must have a new cook. We love the food. We did not get a window seat but the food was great!
TV's continues to be an icon of tiki food! Love it -- always have, always will.
I like the bar and have been there before. The restaurant has charm but the food is not up to par with the Bay Area. It’s overpriced and dated. I’m not a food snob really but would never eat here again except for the bongo bongo soup. I didn’t even like my mai tai for the price. I took a friend for a birthday dinner and was kind of embarrassed. The waitress was wearing a dirty apron.
Air Conditioning was invented in 1902; They do not have air conditioning. Their window panes face the hot setting sun. The menu is trimmed down so much that it's hard to find anything from the Trader Vic's cookbook. Prices seemed fair but the place was so stifling hot and the menu such a disappointment that we left.
Easter brunch was excellent!
Drinks are amazing! Although our stake was excellent our appetizer were mediocre at best for the price.
Another wonderful experience at Trader Vic’s! Best drinks in the bay
Every thing was nice except bar drinks.
If your not in to exotic drinks your out of luck. Cant get a simple bar drink
Great service with a smile
I was very surprised! I had been led to believe Trader Vic's had gone down hill but the service was excellent, lunch was great (I had the chicken salad), and the ambiance as good as ever. Evidently the waitress saw the "happy birthday" bag that was given to our guest of honor and without asking, she brought to the table a huge bowl of delicious ice cream with a candle lit. How is that for thoughtfulness?
The food was not prepared well. Noodles greasy, appetizer portions very small, fish & chips batter over crispy,
Arnold Palmer drinks were too sour to drink!
It was a little disappointing. Service was Excellent!
A fun place, great drinks, good music, wonderful view. Don't bring anyone who uses their cell phone light to read menus or uses a hearing aide - they won't be happy and are just going to ruin it for you and everyone else.
Trader Vic’s was a trip into nostalgia. On that it missed the mark. Loud and brassy. If you are going to recapture the fun and ambience of Cosmo Place, forget it. It’s become an upscale “Asian fusion” noisy place.
Food was good, not great.
Service was stellar.
Great food, great service, romantic views. We were lucky and saw someone proposing. She said yes!
Food and service was excellent. A little pricy, but very tasty. Great views and atmosphere.
Drinks had way too much ice for the price. Only complaint. Felt a little ripped off there.
The tradition and reputation was worth repeating. The views of course were phenomenal The employees were all friendly, gracious, and efficient. None of what we ordered was good food. The sampler share plate for $28 was almost inedible. However we loved the history and the decor of bamboo all polished and the paintings in the back rooms of ships were very interesting.
Great meal! Fantasic Menu! Very attentive! Great wait staff! Beautiful venue!
Awesome service from staff. Good location and views. Food was ok. Looks to be a great drinks place with wide variety and list.
Very welcoming the moment we approached the door and were greeted by the hostess/concierge who gave a us a little history of Trader Vic's and remembered from our reservation that it was our anniversary. We had a beautiful table by the window. Our server was friendly, prompt, knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and helped us make great choices for our dinner. It was the perfect evening!
Exactly what was promised for a tiki outing.
We loved this place. The food was great! The chickpea appetizer was really wonderful. I had the salmon which was lovely. The drinks are one of the highlights, and since we had some people in the group that don't drink, the staff was kind enough to give us water and other drinks in the ceramic tikki mugs. We also had a table by the window on a night with a gorgeous sunset.
The staff was particularly lovely and thoughtful. The service was so nice, and never overbearing, while still being there for us whenever we needed anything.
This is a great special occasion place. A little retro in a very charming way. Great place for a romantic date, or birthday party, that we had.
Great location. Valet only parking was a nice touch. Would definitely dine here again.
