Outstanding food and ambience. Took me back to my time living in Hawaii. Having said that, was underwhelmed my the original Mai Tai. Not sure if it was really the formula or just the bartender as the lime had not been squeezed just chucked in with the alcohol. Had to go with the Vic Sling the second time which was awesome. Will I come back? Yes, yes, I will and you should too.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is located in a conference hotel in Atlanta. Apparently, due to a high volume in terms of number of customers, thus service is sloooooooow. Conference hotels have a guaranteed patronage as long as they keep booking conferences, so usually there is a "captive clientele" and little incentive to improve or respond to negative feedback.
The egg rolls were simply horrible. Worst we've ever had - the wrapping shell was soggy. My wife said it was more like a burrito with Polynesian stuffing than something akin to what one would think of as an egg roll. Dipping sauces, however, were tasty.
Our entrées were Imperial Beef, which comes with a side of steamed rice, and Hawaiian Vegetable Fried Rice. We might have a different review had we chosen different entrées. I can only speak to what we ordered and there are many other choices on the menu.
The Imperial Beef was okay, approximately the quality of Pei Wei, but not a higher end restaurant. It comes piled in a small mound. The food in the center of the mound was hot, but the rest around the perimeter of the dish was lukewarm at best. The steamed rice side was rubbery and inedible.
The Hawaiian Vegetable Fried Rice was also okay at best. If they aimed for mediocre, they nailed it. The rice did not look or taste like it was fried; it looked and tasted like steamed rice.
The mai tais were good, so if you are not eating, but only drinking at the bar, you might find Trader Vic's more acceptable.
The plus for this restaurant is the Pacific island décor and ambiance, which is interesting.
Great atmosphere and food!! I really enjoyed the wait staff.
Complete let-down. We were in Atlanta from Los Angeles California for an event and were so excited to visit Trader Vic's since the ones near us all closed down. We wanted to order one fo the glasses to take home but sorry we are out of them. We wanted to order a menehune drink to get the menehune, sorry we are out of them. Original Mai Tai's aren't made with Orange Curacao, orgeat, and lime but rather pre-made bottled mai tai mix and a squeeze of lime, WTF? Mai Tai? I think not!!!
Wonderful seafood! Excellent vodka Mai Thai! Excellent service!
Amazing as always! We love this place. Highly recommend! Great service
Very strong mai tai’s and good flavor and fresh food.
Good to go see the details and environment, but extremely over price meal. What we had was no worth the price for sure. Mai Tai was great and they provided a cake for our Anniversary so they were attentive, but that's it
Trader Vic's delivers on the expected 1970's artificial tiki bar ambiance. The food was very good and the service engaging, but the menu is a bit pricey for what you get. I would consider going again if I were already downtown, but unlikely to make the effort otherwise.
They do get credit for validating parking for the Hilton deck - unfortunately I had to circle the single floor of the deck reserved for self parking multiple times to find an available parking space (at 6pm on a rainy Saturday). I definitely needed a drink by the time I got to the table.
Fun for a date night! Food was much better than expected and the crowd was relaxed and diverse. Loved the specialty drinks and the wood fire cooked meat dishes. The lamb and pork dishes were delicious.
This is one of the original
It wasn't bad just pricey for what we got. I would go back for drinks but not dinner.
I was extremely disappointing in the food at Trader Vic's . I have been wanting to try this place for years. The only redeeming factor is that they had great drinks. Let me start by saying that I grew up on the West Coast and this is NOT a Hawaiian menu. I would compare the food to cheap Chinese. Even cheap Chinese food has better flavor.
We were so disappointed with the food. Particularly the rice special dish and the shrimp dinner.
Incredible, as always! We are never disappointed here! Food, atmosphere, attentive staff, every detail is just right!
Always a gem and have to place on my list of restaurants to go do when in Atlanta! This trip yielded me getting the Wok Style Seafood and it was delish! My cocktail was the traditional Mai Tai, which I had never had, but will try again!!! From the host desk, to the wait staff to the food, all is for a memorable, pleasant experience and I fully recommend.
This place is legendary
Needs a lot of cosmetic updates... I thought it might be kitschy fun... but it was straight out of the 70’s decor...
Beware of poor service when party is 6 or more. They add 18% gratuity, which I can understand in a conventioneer/tourist restaurant, but the shame of it is it gives the server no incentive to even give you basic service. Our server was missing in action most of the time. He was not accommodating at all and actually had a very surly attitude. Empty tables around the restaurant so no excuse.
We have been coming to Trader Vic’s for years during business trips and always enjoyed the food and drinks however, the last three visits have been horrible and we will not be returning. All three times we have people in our group served luke warm or cold food. Not acceptable!!!!
