Sadly disappointed. We love tiki culture and this place has such history and potential to be amazing. But last night it fell short. The decor is awesome and the drinks were great. But only half our tiki drinks came in tiki glasses. You’d think they’d have some classic island type music playing. But no. Dead silent. Creepy silent. Their famous Chinese clay ovens were said to be working. But we sat right next to them and they were not on. The food was sub par. And on top of that our waitress was not happy to be there. I’m sure at one time this place had a great island vibe, but it felt like a relic of the past that no one cares much about anymore. We were totally bummed out.
Great cocktails. Very good food. Great service. Love Tiki.
Service was excellent, server was very friendly, and food was delicious. We’re definitely coming back before we check out. L
We came here to get some tiki drinks and had mai-tais. They didn’t come in tiki glasses, and my boyfriend didn’t like his. They did have a strange back flavor to them that wasn’t pleasant. The grilled octopus I got was outstanding, though, and came with pork slices and mango chutney. The waiter was fine, but when my boyfriend asked for asparagus instead of rice, they told him “No.” instead of “I’m sorry, but we don’t offer substitutions” or something more polite. The price we paid for our meals was very high for what we had as were the drinks given their taste. Ambience was nice, however, though they need more light in the evening, even if it’s just better candles. Overall, it was not a bad place, but it was not an excellent one, either.
We were so excited to finally make it to Trader Vic’s! Decor is amazing, drinks are tasty, and food was delicious. I got the Tuna Poke and the truffle oil brought it to a new level.
An Atlanta treasure and one of two Trader Vic’s restaurants* still in the USA. Glad to see it reopen. I have been going to this location for 30 years for fun and old school rum drinks. Thrilled to see the Chinese Oven back in action. This a unique thing to Trader Vic’s and not to be missed. * not including San Jose airport location.
The best food and drinks! The atmosphere is relaxed and you don't feel rushed to finish your meal.
Food was amazing. Angie was my server and she was fantastic!
Excellent and creative drinks, fine service, and good (not great) food. But what sets this place apart from everywhere else is the awesome ambiance.
The food and drink were terrific! The service prompt and the server was very kind. I still think adding overhead music to the ambience would be a plus, the room was a little too quiet.
Love Trader Vic's. Love the food and the atmosphere!!!
Everything was fine until the check came. Food was good as well as service. When The check came it included a tip of 25%. When I questioned the manager he and server said they don’t put tips on the check. Then they said it was a slip of the finger by the server. However I saw someone else that had eaten there the night before and the very same thing happened. I’m not sure I’ll go back anymore.
They were able to accommodate a party of 8 nicely.
Wait staff was wonderful. Food was delicious. Amazing Pineapple Upside-down cake. Always love the atmosphere and fun tiki drinks. Feel like I am in a tropical hideaway!!
Did not meet expectations for Trader Vic's.
I made an 8pm reservation on Open Table for one person, hoping to miss the dinner rush, and be able to have a nice dinner reading my book. When the elevator doors opened, I knew that wouldn't be the case. It was complete chaos. One woman at the desk running in circles trying to seat people. People like me with a reservation, being pushed to the back of the line, rude groups who felt they could bypass the line were seated before me. Finally, 45 minutes later, I was seated in the back of a mostly empty restaurant. My server was lovely, but the crab rangoon was clearly precooked and refried (burnt). After another 40 minutes my dinner arrived, but it wasn't what I ordered. I asked for the rice dish to go, along with the pineapple upside down dessert, and was HIGHLY disappointed when I got to my room to see the rice was a to-go container full of grease, and the the dessert was missing 1/2 the components. Not the best experience.
The need more servers and help. Crazy wait for just ok food
Always love the crew at Trader Vic’s. Cherie
Nice to feel like you’re on vacation
Ambiance so well done
It was a friend’s birthday.
I made a reservation through O.T., got a confirmation and also the day before, AND a phone call from T.V’s two hours before. When we got there they had no record of our reservation.
Crab Rangoon was amazing-We ordered more, then another round!
The service was excellent. The food, however, was very disappointing. The crispy prawns were dry and over cooked. The pork was dry and flavorless. The ribs were not tender. However, the worst was the $12 Caesar salad. It consisted of a bowl of chopped lettuce, some croutons, two cherry tomatoes, and a PACKET of salad dressing (like at a fast-food place)! I expected they would make their own dressing. If they were using a prepared dressing, they should have at least put it in a small pitcher - not just put the packet on the table for the diner to tear off the strip and pour on the lettuce!
All in all - the service and ambience were wonderful. However, the food was fair at best, and I think it was far too pricy for the quality. We spent over $100 for a substandard meal.
I noticed the bar area was very busy (Trader Vic's is known for their tropical drinks), but the restaurant was nearly empty.
The food and drink here are insane when matched with the overall ambiance
My wife and I live 2 hours from Atlanta and like to go there several times a year for a short "overniter". Over time, Trader Vic's had become a common stop for a Mai Tai cocktail. After the riots in Atlanta we were not sure what to expect. Traffic is definitely down and Atlanta still feels a little off, but the wings and Mai Tai's at Trader Vic's were excellent as always!
Understaffed and say overpriced. Maybe they’ll improve once staffing issues are corrected.
A GREAT PLACE!
It was unfortunately not the experience we have had before. Short-staffed and the kitchen was slow. Our server did the best she could handling multiple tables, she was attentive and personal. Probably will wait to go back when they get recovered from the pandemic.
I had higher expectations for this restaurant located in a Hilton property boating Hawaiian-themed fare. Our server was personable but our drinks were slow. The shareable platters were much smaller than expected and room temperature at best. Probably go back for tiki drinks but not dinner.
Good as always :-)
Trader Vics is a staple, a go to, a real diamond in the basement of the Hilton and downtown. We love it, I go as often as I can, and Milenko and the rest of bar team are amazing.
They didn’t even look at my dining special request
Really enjoyed it at Trader Vic’s. We came in and had drinks after our long drive to Atlanta.
The service and food quality has really slipped. What made Trader Vic's so great was the fine dining service combined with the kitschy wonderful tropical escape. The bathroom reno is simply awful. Understand F&B pressure these days but from the manager down, all poor service. Drinks still top notch, but attention to garnish is noticeable. The quality of protein/produce is noticeably poorer.
Great food and service. The pineapple upside down cake was yummy!
Our server, Tenny, was prompt, attentive, friendly and made us feel as if we were her only customer. Tenny is a credit to your company.
This was our first time at Trader Vic’s and I wish we had waited until the restaurant was fully ‘open’ after COVID. It was a tad disappointing (we really should have checked ahead for the situation - our bad) because they were very short handed and service was very slow. We were ok with that bc we had good company and we’re enjoying the tiki atmosphere, which is so much fun. With the diners spread out so much and limited, we felt like we were alone, which was not the atmosphere we were personally looking for - we had hoped for more of the upbeat vibe our friends had regularly experienced over the years. If you want a cozy intimate experience, go now while it’s still running at minimal operations! The food and drinks were excellent and once they are back at full operations, I’m sure our experience would be 5 stars! Hope to return again soon.
I make sure I have dinner at Trader Vic's every time I'm in Atlanta. The food is delicious
and the drinks are fantastic. An island paradise in the concrete jungle
Being a chain I didn’t know what to expect but they impressed me with excellent service (even with a reduced staff), and high quality tasty food. Loved the experience!
If you go, get the Beef Cho Cho starter which is accompanied by a small flaming bowl to cook the meat to desired temperature, like a mini hibachi.
