Very enjoyable. Went on a Living Social voucher which made it affordable.
Trace was everything it was purported to be in the online reviews we had read, which made us choose Trace. The décor is beautiful, posh, elegant, and the service was excellent -- attentive, friendly, helpful and made the meal even more enjoyable. The food was 5-Star: mouthwatering, gourmet, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We had dinner and made it to the nearby Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in plenty of time for the show. A perfect combination! We highly recommend Trace!
We hadn't been to Trace in a while: of previous two experiences, one was excellent and one was so-so. Third time was back to excellent: the food and service are top-notch, and we got the quiet table by the window I'd requested. It was truly a wonderful evening, and we thank the staff in particular.
We had a Travelzoo voucher- With the voucher it was a good value
The food was quite good. Wines were a bit pricey but a good selection
In the bar/lounge area they had a DJ playing loud un appetizing music
which we could hear
My wife thinks that the choice of table ware could have been more "classy"
considering the good quality of the meal
Good good restaurant
Food was very good and well prepared and presented. The Shanghai noodles and Scallops were especially tasty. The only disappointment was that the Flat Iron steak was slightly overcook. The bread pudding for dessert was also excellent.
spare, modern, elegant dining room, delicious food, pleasant wait staff, quiet and conveniently located to offices and downtown ACT at Geary, at least for those who don't mind a short walk. We loved the scallops and shanghai noodles. My friend thought the oysters were really plump and juicy. The steak was a little tough - souvide might have been an idea? The asparagus were cooked just right.
My wife and I spent the weekend in the city and Trace was our last stop on Sunday before returning to the East Bay. Ambiance was great, service and food outstanding.
Easy, fast, tasty! Trace is a good go-to while at Moscone for events. Not many non-meat options, which I am typically interested in, but the food I did have was delicious. I'll go back the next time I am at a conference in SF.
Much too loud for any table conversation-short of shouting!
Reserved high table but got taken to just a normal table. Yet, the surrounding was nice, my table was a part from big group. Enjoyed my brunch. Great food and great service
Great place, great food and wonderful service. Very attentive staff
Enjoyed the food , our servers were good.
However we got terrible seat ( by the exit door with ugly view ) and that ruined my VD dinner.
I also dislike about the seats being too close each other so we can hear other people’s conversation.
Definitely not recommend for a romantic dinner.
We had a wonderful time enjoying a delicious brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday! The restaurant was very accommodating for our large group. The service was fantastic and the food was really excellent. It was a great experience overall and reserving on OpenTable was seamless.
After reviewing my receipt when I got home I saw that they had added in an 18% "service fee" without telling me. I always tip well, and when I got the bill, I did not realize the tip was already included and added 20% to the total that included the already added 18%. Needless to say, I felt ripped off by the waiter and restaurant in general.
Very nice food and so kindness waiter
Food was bland and meh. Atmosphere was amazing. Was disappointed that the “wine pairing” was just two half glasses of wine at the beginning of the meal that didn’t even coordinate with our food.
We came for their restaurant week dinner tasting menu. All of the staff was wonderful and the food was delicious, especially the duck entree and the vanilla bread pudding dessert. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts as well. Great dinner experience, but sadly the parking in the area doesn’t seem safe. We parked in the nearby garage behind MoMA and it was broken into during our time at dinner.
Great night out with friends for Restaurant Week. The prix fixe menu was delicious and even with a large group the service was great.
What a delight! I went for SF Restaurant Week, and for only $15, I got a delicious baby kale salad and huge fish sandwich (flaky rock fish with roumalade sauce!), and a tiny ice cream sandwich on salted chocolate wafers. Soooooo good, and they were nice enough to take me early, since I didn't really want to spend time next door at SF MOMA this time. Service was excellent, as well.
Food was excellent and prepared the way I had requested. I liked it so much I went back again. If it was still delicious. I have recommended it to my friends.
We enjoyed the food and Robert our server was excellent.
This is an exceptional restaurant. Sometimes restaurants in hotels are not that great, but I didn't even think about it while I was there. It is definitely a stand alone quality restaurant!
Steak was delivered "medium-rare" but really over done. Salad was entirely too salty and had to be sent back. Only 5-6 wines on the menu. The entire menu? One per varietal. Overall disappointing considering it resides within the "W" Hotel.
Very good food and creative
Crowded. Busy. Service could be more attentive. Menu is kind of sparse. Cool vibe though.
I seriously loved this place! I had no idea how good it would be. I had seen reviews, and it had a high rating, but the food itself was out of this world delicious for the most part. And even what wasn't "out of this world" delicious was still ALMOST out of this world delicious. The thing I'd recommend most is the oysters. Seriously the best I've ever had, and that's saying something because I've eaten a lot of oysters. Also, simply the bread they serve - you must try the walnut bread. And the Shanghai noodles are PERFECTION! For main entrees, I had branzini and my bf had chicken - they were both very good. Service very good and ambiance nice and modern.
As a hotel restaurant goes, it was fine. I didn’t realize it was right on street level when booking. Needed a restaurant close by. Very cool decor, service was very accommodating and great server. Brussels sprouts were awesome! Pear and endive salad was a bit lack luster...not impressed. Chicken dish was very good, the flatiron steak was not! It was tough, had huge gristle in the middle of both pieces. Seemed to be either sitting too long or reheated as the polenta was hard around the edges. Yuck. Didn’t complain as I was tired and just wanted to go, but $36 for a steak I couldn’t eat was disappointing. Too many good restaurants in SF to eat mediocre.
The burgers and Brussels sprouts were the best dishes of all. Close runners up were the flatbread and tomato soup. All of the food was good, but I would come back for a burger and side of Brussels sprouts anytime.
Christmas Day fixed menu was very expensive for what we got. It cost us over $650 for 5 people. For that we got a shared starter which turned out to be 3 dishes to serve 5 people, one small entree each and three deserts to share between 5 people.
Very disappointing, would not recommend this restaurant if there is a fixed menu
Such a cool atmosphere and absolutely divine good! Excellent staff.
The breakfast option were extremely basic and pretty expensive for what they were.
Fantastic food, great wine selection too.
Roger is wonderful! Very much appreciate his enthusiasm insight and feedback. Excellent recommendations!
My co-workers treated me to lunch for my birthday today. We've been here several times before and always received great service, but today was over the top! They were so attentive, even in timing my birthday cake, trying to serve it before the ice cream melted, but not wanting to rush me!
I wish all restaurants would model their service after Trace. The team here is wonderful & genuine!
Great lunch! We all had the express lunch - excellent small bowl of tomato soup, roasted chicken sandwich & ended with a delicious ice cream sandwich. Our waiter was knowledgeable, didn't rush us, & just the right amount of friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area for something at Yerba Buena Center, etc.
Trace was a big disappointment after reading the reviews it had received. The service was painfully slow and the food just mediocre. The highlight of the meal was the bread.
Server was excellent. However, noise level from bar area and music were incredibly high even in the far end of dining area. Salad good. Scallops were like cardboard.
You need to advise clearly that tip, 18% is included. I double tipped because I wasn't informed. My bad as I should look at the itemize check. But wrong to not say anything.
Food was great quality for the price. I had a great waiter with excellent recommendations. Very good Chicken Marsala and he tried to tempt me with some awfully good looking desserts, but I managed to hold my ground! It's a little noisy but that may have been due to the groups.
