Trace Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed the food , our servers were good.
However we got terrible seat ( by the exit door with ugly view ) and that ruined my VD dinner.
I also dislike about the seats being too close each other so we can hear other people’s conversation.
Definitely not recommend for a romantic dinner.
We had a wonderful time enjoying a delicious brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday! The restaurant was very accommodating for our large group. The service was fantastic and the food was really excellent. It was a great experience overall and reserving on OpenTable was seamless.
We came for their restaurant week dinner tasting menu. All of the staff was wonderful and the food was delicious, especially the duck entree and the vanilla bread pudding dessert. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts as well. Great dinner experience, but sadly the parking in the area doesn’t seem safe. We parked in the nearby garage behind MoMA and it was broken into during our time at dinner.
What a delight! I went for SF Restaurant Week, and for only $15, I got a delicious baby kale salad and huge fish sandwich (flaky rock fish with roumalade sauce!), and a tiny ice cream sandwich on salted chocolate wafers. Soooooo good, and they were nice enough to take me early, since I didn't really want to spend time next door at SF MOMA this time. Service was excellent, as well.
I seriously loved this place! I had no idea how good it would be. I had seen reviews, and it had a high rating, but the food itself was out of this world delicious for the most part. And even what wasn't "out of this world" delicious was still ALMOST out of this world delicious. The thing I'd recommend most is the oysters. Seriously the best I've ever had, and that's saying something because I've eaten a lot of oysters. Also, simply the bread they serve - you must try the walnut bread. And the Shanghai noodles are PERFECTION! For main entrees, I had branzini and my bf had chicken - they were both very good. Service very good and ambiance nice and modern.
As a hotel restaurant goes, it was fine. I didn’t realize it was right on street level when booking. Needed a restaurant close by. Very cool decor, service was very accommodating and great server. Brussels sprouts were awesome! Pear and endive salad was a bit lack luster...not impressed. Chicken dish was very good, the flatiron steak was not! It was tough, had huge gristle in the middle of both pieces. Seemed to be either sitting too long or reheated as the polenta was hard around the edges. Yuck. Didn’t complain as I was tired and just wanted to go, but $36 for a steak I couldn’t eat was disappointing. Too many good restaurants in SF to eat mediocre.
Christmas Day fixed menu was very expensive for what we got. It cost us over $650 for 5 people. For that we got a shared starter which turned out to be 3 dishes to serve 5 people, one small entree each and three deserts to share between 5 people.
Very disappointing, would not recommend this restaurant if there is a fixed menu
My co-workers treated me to lunch for my birthday today. We've been here several times before and always received great service, but today was over the top! They were so attentive, even in timing my birthday cake, trying to serve it before the ice cream melted, but not wanting to rush me!
I wish all restaurants would model their service after Trace. The team here is wonderful & genuine!
Great lunch! We all had the express lunch - excellent small bowl of tomato soup, roasted chicken sandwich & ended with a delicious ice cream sandwich. Our waiter was knowledgeable, didn't rush us, & just the right amount of friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area for something at Yerba Buena Center, etc.
Food was great quality for the price. I had a great waiter with excellent recommendations. Very good Chicken Marsala and he tried to tempt me with some awfully good looking desserts, but I managed to hold my ground! It's a little noisy but that may have been due to the groups.
Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant can be a disaster. My experience at Trace was just the opposite! I had the traditional turkey dinner with all the side dishes. The quantity and quality of the food was exceptional and the price was very low compared to what other restaurants were offering for Thanksgiving dinner. Based on my Thanksgiving dinner experience, I will definitely go back to Trace for a non-holiday meal.
This was our second visit and unfortunately it wasn’t great. Service thoughtout was poor for the price. Charcuterie was an A+ meat provider but poorly presented, no mustards, and just thrown together with arugula on top. The waiter wasn’t sure what was what. The chicken breast main seemed a bit dry. The bronzino, normally a wonderful fish served whole was only one side and seemed precooked and heated. The waiter asked if I knew how the fish was as served so I was disappointed when it was not served how bronzino is normally served. Too bad.
The Resturant was quite empty and we had fabulous service. The prices were high $14 for 4 oysters and $19 for 2 midsize scallops. We really loved these two starters. The main we had was hanger steak with polenta and greens for $36 the meat and greed were not very good at all.
We arrived an hour earlier than our reservation because our plans changed, and they were very accommodating! The service was impeccable, checked in very often and refilled waters and drinks, but still gave us space to enjoy ourselves. The Brussels
Sprouts share dish was so delicious! Portions were actually quite large. Entrees were delicious but I was more impressed with the smaller plates. You could easily serve two people with 2-3 appetizers instead of entrees. The hotel is across the street from Yerba Buena gardens. We'll be back for a drink and light bite again soon!
