Okay but certainly nothing special.
Thank you for the review Did3. We always appreciate honest feedback and hope we get to see you again for an improved experience.
What a huge disappointment. When I walked in to meet a friend, the host/server sat me at a different table, even though my friend had beat me there and was already seated. We came for brunch and when we went to use the waffle irons, they were unplugged even though brunch was still scheduled for another hour. I won't be returning to this location, unless it's drinks only. The highlight was watching the server, move furniture around the diners to set up for the dinner hour. Really classy...
Thank you for taking the time to review us, Mellissa. We really appreciate your feedback and apologize for the experience you received at our Whiskey and Waffles event. We are connecting with our team to figure out how we can constantly be improving and hope you give us another opportunity. Thank you again for your feedback.
I went for the Whiskey and Waffles brunch, which was promotional for Woodinville bourbon. The brunch and the cocktails were all really overpriced, especially considering that we had to make the waffles ourselves. It felt like a continental breakfast buffet at any generic hotel, maybe only slightly better quality, and was definitely not worth $20 per person just for the food. As far as the cocktails went, I had the Bourbon & Bubbly, which was very small (didn't even fill 3/4 of the champagne flute) and honestly not very good. My boyfriend had an Old Fashioned, which wasn't bad but also wasn't anything special. I think we were just expecting more since it was a promotional event that had been really hyped up, and we both left feeling disappointed.
Hi ChelseaP! Thank you for taking the time to review us and for attending our brunch. We are saddened to hear that you felt our Whiskey and Waffles brunch wasn't what you were expecting and we apologize for this. As a luxury hotel restaurant, we want our food and beverage to be exceptional for all our guests so we greatly value your feedback for this event. We will definitely take into account your comments about pricing, food and drink for our upcoming events.
We were hopeful this would be a great dining experience based on recommendations from the W hotel. We walked into an empty restaurant with cafeteria style seating. The food was absolutely terrible. I cannot emphasize how underwhelming this establishment is.
Thank you for taking the time to review us, we greatly value your feedback. I am disappointed to hear that your dining experience at TRACE was unpleasant and apologize that the food and overall ambience were lacking. We are addressing these issues and hope to improve future experiences for all our diners.
They are definitely not geared for lunch service. I made a reservation thinking it would be hopping, and there was literally no one there - not even to greet us. Menu was not inspired, and the food was disappointing. Dark and quiet - not at all what I expected from a W property restaurant! Waitress completely disappeared and I had to holler out to find her so we could pay - after we'd been there more than an hour and needed to get on to our other meetings. I was embarrassed to have chosen this over so many other options close by!
Thank you for taking the time to review us ShannonS! I would like to offer my sincerest apologizes for your poor experience dining with us. At Trace and W Seattle we strive to ensure the food and drink along with service is kept to a high standard. Following your comments I will make sure to address these issues with the restaurant and bar team to ensure we provide a 5 star experience next time.
Great place for a drink, wouldn’t recommend for dinner. the crab dip was disappointing, the cheese plate was decent, the food wasn’t on par with other $$$ restaurants, but the drinks were good.
Even though I work downtown, I've never been there before. I wanted to try some place different.
I was pleasantly surprised at the ambience of the place, the lighted bar counter and modern looking décor. The waitress was helpful, kind and very responsive to our needs, (recommendations, prompt service, coffee refills). The Trace Burger was scrumptious and the warm chocolate cake was to die for!
We were a group of four ladies headed to the theatre after dinner. Unfortunately, after we got seated it took over 30 minutes to have a server come to our table. No drinks, no water refills, nothing. They were not friendly and not helpful, full of excuses. Disappointing for a lovely restaurant with great food in the W Hotel.
Good location. Noisy and very poor service! Food tasted was ok but we ordered off the happy hour menu and were charged for the regular menu prices.
Cocktails, dinner, and dessert were all good, but not amazing. Every item we ordered seemed about $2-4 more expensive than I would have guessed for a restaurant like this in Seattle.
Got sick from salmon- very random plate- won’t be back
Stopped by here as it was close to our hotel and know the W is generally a "happening" place - Trace probably is later at night after the DJ arrives although the music in the bar area with accompanying back drop added a fun vibe. As for the food - the menu selections are basic and the actual food itself rather bland. The onion soup was a bowl of broth and onions in which a few croutons were placed along with a slice of mozzarella floating around. I could do better than that with a can of Campbell's soup. The chick pea humus was more chick pea that hummus - the most dense humus I've ever had. The macaroons saved the meal - a different spin on the theme with a rather toasty exterior but made for a delightful taste sensation. My overall suggestion: Come to the bar area for drinks, coffee and/or dessert and to listen to some good music.
We went there before going to the 5th Avenue Theater on Friday night. It was the first time there. The sign out doors clearly marked the establishment but when you walk in you walk right into the bar. There was live music in the bar. It was about 6:00 PM. There was a sign that said Check in up the stairs. We had reservations so up we went. When we got up there, that was not the right place. It was the check-in for the W-hotel. They pointed out where to go and off we went. We were surprised to find no one else in the restaurant. It is very modern looking place with multicolored lights and a concrete and steel look.
We were seated and the service was prompt. The menu is somewhat limited but we all found something we liked. My wife and I had the crab sandwich with garlic fries. They were both very good. Our grandson had one of the hamburgers and it was also very good. Our granddaughter had the chicken caesar salad which was also good. For dessert we shared the macaroons, creme brulee, and the cinnamon and sugar donuts. The food was great all the way around.
Since we had to be at the 5th Avenue at a set time, the service was fast enough to get us out of there on time but we did not feel rushed. Of course, we were the only people in the restaurant so it is hard to tell if the service would be as fast in a busy night.
We would go again and it is convenient to the 5th Avenue theater.
They somehow did everything wrong? Our waitress was fine, but the lighting was very bright and harsh, the music was too loud, and both the menu and the food were really really terrible! They subbed out the dates for cherry tomatoes on the salad we ordered and the dressing was acidic enough that it hurt my stomach. The sliders were very bland and dry. Wish I had gone to the cheap pizza place nearby.
There was only one server. We had to cancel our main course because there was no way it would make. It took 45 min to get onion soup, which wasn’t what you expect an onion soup to be.
Great food, glad we tried it. I was a little disappointed there weren't any mashed potatoes for a Thanksgiving dinner. Also, for the price it would have been nice if they offered to let people take home a to go box. The restaurant was not full, or even half full and they had tons of food! Makes one wonder what they do with all those leftovers? I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The chef is amazing! The macadamia nut stuffing was to die for!
I liked up a menu on line and got one for an Austin restaurant instead of Seattle. I wan’t expecting a buffet. It was very good food.
A little too loud for a business lunch, but otherwise was a great choice.
I think I was inadvertently marked as a no show. No one greeted us at the door so I walked back to the dining area and asked to seat myself. I had the scallops.
I’ve attached a photo of my receipt today to show I was there. Thanks for making the correction.
Great service, small menu of great food. Yes it’s a W hotel restaurant but it’s damn good and I eat here regularly.
Good food, but very noisy. Service was great. Server recommended the scallops and the salmon, and both were very good.
Great restaurant, food and service has always been excellent. I love that they have good acoustics for a quiet dinner or business lunch.
The experience was passable though not particularly memorable. The restaurant pumped trendy music more loudly than necessary into the cavernous, empty space with only two other tables of people during the weekday lunch hour. The brief menu covered most bases, providing at least one dish suitable for a person on a mainstream restrictive diet. The server provided attentive service without being fussy or rushing us. The food was tasty with decent presentation and well-portioned so as to sate our appetites without going overboard. While it's doubtful I will return any time soon, my friend and I enjoyed our lunches.
Nice Vibe in the restaurant, great location and good drinks
We shared a dinner of bbq ribs which was plentiful for two. Taste was excellent and vegetables were ala dente. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Really good food, but very limited menu. It would have been nice to know that it was in the lobby of a hotel prior to making the reservation but there was nothing noted. Not a huge wine list and we got the only two bottles left of a wine listed...Server was friendly and did a great job considering she was the only server for all tables.
We made the reservation online and was accepted. When we arrived at the restaurant we found that it was closed for a private party. The system should not allow us to make a reservation when the restaurant is closed. Very disappointed as this was a special occasion and we had to take a taxi to get there. We didn't had to take another taxi to find another restaurant.
Our group came for a buffet style brunch with live entertainment. The brunch was almost $30 a plate and even though we got there at the opening time, the food seemed like it had been sitting out for some time. Everything was lukewarm and bland. Coffee and juice were not included. Although the event was by reservation, seating did not appear to be specific and we were sat in the very back of the room, farthest from the stage while the majority of the tables remained empty for nearly the entire event. The waitstaff was very nice. We will not be returning.
The description of the event didn’t come to par with what the actual experience was. Food was definitely not. Didn’t seem as organized as we thought it would be either. Our table was wobbly and I don’t think it should of even been placed on the floor. I appreciate the W for having this event. I just think for the price, it needs to amped up more.
Super loud music from the lobby. Very distracting . Seems out of place for a premium dining experience .
It was nice and quite, great place for my one on one meeting. Service and food was very good.
Food was good overall but fish was overcooked
Host seated the 3 of us but really didn’t seem to to enthusiastic about being there. You can just tell. The waitress was very nice but not well trained for a restaurant that has a high end appearance, menu and location. Web site claims to have a good selection of Washington wines. A few, but not as broad of selection as I see in many Portland restaurants. The ones they had tended to be low end or very expensive ones. Picked one, nice cab blend. Table was set with small thick rimmed wine glasses that totally full would be about 9oz. No swirling going to happen with those glasses! Had to ask for appropriate wine glasses from the waitress and her response was that most of the good ones were broken but there might be a few behind the bar. Wine was opened before she left to look for the glasses. Had to pour the wine myself to taste after the good glasses arrived Evidently they really don’t know how to present a $125. Bottle of wine. Wine was good so they must store them properly. The food was very good. Nice and crispy Brussels sprouts. Salmon was cooked to proper temp and scallops were very nicely done.
Don’t think I would go back as so many good places to eat in that area. Kitchen seems to know what they are doing but the rest of the training of staff needs to be reviewed and greatly polished. With training the waitress could be great. The host... nice guy but maybe a bad day
Trace is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown. From the amazing brussel sprouts to my scallops, everything was absolutely delicious. This time my friends and I tried the tater tots - wow! This place is a gem!
We haven't been there in a few years and the menu had changed. It was good but less diverse than before. The crispy lemongrass chicken wings were excellent, as were the pulled pork sliders. And they had a happy hour from 3-8pm on a Saturday! Service was very good. Noise level is tough to control in the more open parts near the fireplace, but if you sit in the bar area or in the restaurant, you can be far enough away.
On our last night in Seattle, we were pretty tired from the week of conference attending and exploring, so we decided to try Trace, the restaurant at the W where we were staying. It was absolutely outstanding and exactly what we were looking for.
My friend had the steak which hit the spot and I had the salmon- which was the best salmon I had during my week in the Emerald City. Thanks for a low-key, perfect ending to a great trip!
Left before we ate because after twenty minutes no one had even greeted us. Not very big selection for breakfast and very overpriced.
Large portions. Yummy food. Great service.
Fish tacos were dry and overcooked. Slaw was very bland. I've had decent meals here, but this was not one. Sometimes I think this restaurant exists only because it's pretty much expected that a 4 star hotel has a restaurant. As a result, it seems uninspired.
