We had awesome service and the perfect table for our dinner business meeting. The food was very good. Will go back for future meals.
Towson Tavern is pretty good. We were celebrating our anniversary when we went and were seated in the quieter, back dining room which was very nice. We ordered the corn chowder (one of the soup specials) and the hurrays salad, both of which were delicious. For dinner, my husband got the cioppino and really enjoyed it. The scallops in it were fantastic and cooked perfectly. I ordered the portobello pizza, which was mushroom caps filled with house-made ratatouille, covered in provolone cheese, drizzled with balsamic and baked. It was okay, but I think it could have used a bit more/different seasoning to add flavor and make it more interesting. We also both ordered cocktails (Pineapple Express & sazerac), which were very tasty and well-made. Also, the service was great. Our waitress (I believe her name was Tori) was pleasant, quick and attentive. The manager even checked on us twice to make sure we were enjoying everything. It was pretty impressive and they clearly care about customer satisfaction. Overall, I’d definitely return but would probably opt for a different entree.
Exceptional food. We were there for “steak night,” and the cuts were excellent and perfectly prepared. Wine list is good. They were out of the Goth, but gave us the Caymus for nearly the same cost. Really nice night.
Great bartenders! We just had apps and soups and both were good. Had the whole place to ourselves on a Sat night at 9pm.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Beautiful ambiance. I'm never disappointed by this restaurant. Definitely worth the cost.
The food was excellent and the service was exceptional.
We had a great time. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive. It was great.
Good food and very attentive service.
Pleasant place = nice food selection Would recommend as a god neighborhood stop before the movies
The service was very good. We had an excellent wait staff who were friendly, enagaging, and attentive.
Many of the typical menu items I am accustomed to changed. The beet salad wasn’t on the menu, nor the short rib, lollipop pork app, and other menu staples.
The proteins were really good but the sides were average. Blackened Chilean sea bass, steaks , and crab cakes were great but the accompanying sides were not on par.
The tuna stack was unimpressive, but the burrata salad was very tasty.
Overall the food was decent but not near the level I have become accustomed to in dining here. Not ready to write them off yet.
Just a night out
Perfect lunch! Great waiter, tuna melt, and atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
Service and people were great. I wasn't that impressed with the food.
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Everyone's food was delicious! Our server Spike was by far one of the best servers I've encountered. He was very attentive and most helpful with our valet parking as we were going to the movies after dinner and he made the transition effortless. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Good experience, the waiter was ver professional and the food was awesome.
Nothing at all special about the food here. Was disappointed with the limited menu during brunch hours since I’m always dieting haha. Our first time here. Not worth driving from Bel Air. We had the burger and French toast.
I absolutely enjoyed my experience there at the Towson Tavern. Everyone was exceptional. I was disappointed that there were no fried goat cheese which is the one menu item I was looking forward to trying. I will definitely be returning and hope they are in stock next time!!
Enjoyed the convenience of valet parking, eating out, and not doing dishes! My Manhattan and a glass of wine were both very good. The rib-eye with bleu cheese was OK. The dining room was attractive and pretty quiet (I've been in the "tavern" side multiple times and that can get loud).
The food was excellent and our server was the best; very polite, cheerful and attentive at just the right times. The food was delivered promptly and the presentation was very nice. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Unfortunately, there was a very loud group at the bar that was initially disruptive but they left part way through the evening. Restaurant should perhaps consider serving bread/olive oil during cocktails before dinner.
Excellent steaks! Try one accompanied by an Azerac cocktail--yum!
Great place to have a delicious meal. Parking can be tough, but valet available.
Everything was great and our server Tori was excellent!
The restaurant was very nice, and the service was great. The food was good. The mussels were very good, as was the rockfish special. The salmon was a very small portion. The sides on all dishes were really tasty.
Would have preferred booth, but unable to . Instead we were seated in bright light, banquet hall type seating. Service was attentive and appetizers were excellent, however two of the entrees came with undercooked cold sides( carrots:cauliflower)
Steaks were vey sub-par and the Steak au poive is not a steak au poive. The chef needs to brush up on his/her technique.
Our dinner at the Towson Tavern was delicious. We had crab cakes which were outstanding. They were seasoned perfectly and were full of large lumps of crab meat. The ambience is also quite nice. It has the feeling of a pub and a very nice bar.
Way too loud for the price point, we were out for what was supposed to be a nice Vday dinner (price certainly reflected as much) and there was a group of 4 or 5 folks absolutely smashed and loud as can be at the bar...felt like I was at a dive bar
Prompt. Courteous. Delicious.
It has been a very long time since we have come to the Towson Tavern - mainly because of the noise level. We were pleased to learn that they added new dining rooms. We arrived and were surprised at the level of the noise as we entered – nothing has changed in the original part of the restaurant. Thankfully, the hostess took us to the new dining area. It is a stunning space and was very quiet. Spike, our server, was very personable and attentive.
Two of us had the Restaurant Week menu. We started with Meatballs in Marinara (4 house-made meatballs finished in the chef’s marinara sauce) and Mozzarella Prosciutto Crostini (prosciutto, mozzarella and basil on a crostini). The meatballs were plump, juicy and loaded with flavor. The crostini was really delicious. For our main courses, we chose the Maryland Crab Pasta (linguine in a sherry cream sauce with jumbo lump crab, heirloom tomatoes, oyster mushrooms and arugula served with garlic toast) and Shrimp Ratatouille served over smoked Gouda grits. We finished with Taharka Brothers Chocolate and Honey Graham Ice cream – a very sweet way to end our meal.
Our friend decided to order off the regular menu and she thoroughly savored the Cioppino (jumbo shrimp, lump crab, day boat scallops, calamari and PEI mussels simmered in a saffron tomato broth).
Another diner ordered the Beer Can Chicken, it was such an impressive presentation we had to take a picture of it – a whole chicken set on top of a beer can – looked really good.
All in all, we enjoyed our dinner.
Spike took really good care of us and was flexible with getting us what we wanted. Food was delicious-presentation was “well-designed”.
Will definitely continue to go back. (Also, Free valet!)
I am usually pleased with the food at Towson Tavern but not this time. I ordered a burger, medium, and it was completely over-cooked, no pink whatsoever. I also ordered it without a bun and it was a completely unappetizing presentation. The rest of the meals looked much better presented and everyone else seemed happy with their lunches.
The service was fine but the food was absolutely terrible- especially for us being the *only* table in there.
Service was terrible!!! Everyone at our table has waited on tables or at least worked in a restaurant before so wanted to give our server the benefit of the doubt to the bitter end but in the end he just was the worst! Arrogant, snarky and rude. So while the food was delicious the evening was definitely tainted by the character of the server.
Great food, great service,
The steak and crab cake were amazing! Thanks for a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner.
Service was excellent. Food was fresh and flavorful. Crab cakes were delicious. The restaurant can be a bit noisy when seated near the bar area.
We went to the Towson Tavern on Christmas Eve for the first time. It was warm and cozy in a upscale pub atmosphere. I had a Margarita which was excellent, and my husband had a Guinness Blond which he enjoyed but was a bit strong for my taste. For dinner we had crab cakes, roasted potatoes, and green beans. The crab cakes were outstanding. In fact I would say they were probably the best I have ever eaten. They were a perfect blend of lump crab meat, delicately and expertly seasoned. We will definitely be coming back.
Maybe it was an off night, but there were only 2 occupied tables and a small office Holiday Party. Most of the food was not hot, in fact we sent the soup back to get hotter. The wait staff was almost too attentive, different people kept coming by to see if we needed anything. For $27-$29 a plate, we expected better.
We were seated right next to a Hugh cocktail private party in the bar area near the front entrance. Noise level was over the top and we sat screaming at each other until they left almost 1 hour. They went to other dining room (which we had requested) for a private party. No reason the cocktails could not have been there also. We should have been notified of this so we could have made other arrangements. Saturday night so no chance of getting in someplace else
Server and food excellent
We had a great meal and great service. The short ribs are outstanding. And half-price wine night is a great deal. Every time we go, we try something new and we're never disappointed!
