The tasted really good and you’re selecting from a small list. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
Food was great! Kale and carrot salad is fresh and wonderful. Chicken extremely flavorful. Hand cut pasta was on point. We all had different cocktails each of us liked ours. Avoid the noise and mediocrity of Waikiki and eat here.
Great service, food wasn’t as good as last time, but we’ll probably give Town another try because it was really good last time.
We had a lovely time with good service and good food. We were glad to have come to an early dinner as it gets busier later. Our plan was to go to a musical at Diamond Head Theatre and we made it in time.
This is my third time at Town. I would not have gone back but my clients wanted to meet at this restaurant. Two of us ordered the fish special for lunch and it held up the whole meal because the fish had not yet been filleted. We found this out after ordering and waiting for a half an hour. In terms of service recovery, they did bring us a small anti-pasto platter as an appeasement. This was welcome as we were all hungry.
That said, when the fish finally did arrive at our table, it’s smelled fishy and had a lot of brown capillary on the plate side of the fillet. This unattractive smelly piece of fish was on top of a runny mess of lentils with warm orange pieces in it. It was unappealing and tasteless. Except for the fishiness of course.
Another in our group ordered a large salad with a chicken breast on it and said that they could’ve made a better salad at home. All in all, I would say that the quality of food at any price is not worth it. But $22 for a piece of fish unimaginatively prepared was a disappointment.
I will not be back.
Ragu was amazing as usual and the salad aromatic and super fresh! Some of the best greens on island 👍🏽
Fresh ingredients and well prepared. Knowledgeable staff.
The food at Town is creative and delicious. The ambience is comfortable and fun. Prices are reasonable in light of the quality. Service is extremely friendly. And the wine and beverage program is first rate.
Our group of 8 had a wonderful evening. Cody, our waiter, was very informative and attentive. All of us loved our food selections from soup to dessert. It was a special birthday celebration.
Normally I like this place, but I would not return at lunch. The menu was far too limited in choices. Very few non-meat choices. Salad dressing was way too much EEOV and not enough acid; my guest thought it had no taste and needed spice as well as acid. The bread was okay but overbaked at edges so had to only eat from middle out. Panne Cotta was the saving grace.
Food was excellent! Brought two young kids under 7, and ordered some of the most simple items on the menu for them, and those items were fantastic. When a restaurant does simple things with impressive skill you know the place is special. The other appetizers and entrees were each unique, fresh, and notably creative. Highly recommended.
We love this restaurant. We visit Honolulu almost every year, and Town is the only restaurant in this growing foodie city that we never miss. The food is excellent, and the staff treat us like natives. We avoid going back to any eatery where the interior or clientele screams “welcome to Hawaii”. Here the only Hawaiian features are the fresh local ingredients and the laid back friendliness of their servers. Town has been at the top of our list of Honolulu restaurants we recommend to any family member or friends who are heading to Honolulu.
Town was one of our favorite restaurants until this past Saturday dinner. They discontinued serving Ma'o salad. Replacement was mediocre, greens was not crisp, no taste. Server forgot to bring appetizer (ahi tartar) that we're looking forward to. Fish was overcooked.
This was my 5th time at Town . Usually it’s a great experience but this time I tried the “Taste of Town” which is a fixed price tarting of various menu items. The waitress was nice enough to let us swap the pasta offered for my preferred gnocchi but the rest of the meal was pretty lacking. The salad arrived very underdressed and we had to ask for more dressing (I mean we could barely detect the dressing if at all!). The mahi with sprouted lentils was WAY over-salted and the pork with polenta was underdone on my friend’s plate. The polenta was great, however- just wish there was more than a tiny smear on the plate ( basically ever serving was VERY small . I understand it’s a tasting meal but still too small IMO). The chocolate tart with pretzel crust was maybe 1/8 the size of a regular slice of a tart but that was ok because it was just “ok”. The waitress did end up comping us our drinks due to our bad experience so that was good. I was sad I’d talked the place up so much to my friend who was visiting from California. I’ll definitely be back because I’ve had so many good meals in the past here, but I don’t be trying the testing menu anytime again soon. 😕
We were tipped on this place by a friend and so visited on our vacation. We enjoyed it very much -- the decor, vibe, staff and meal were all excellent -- and we'd definitely dine here again and recommend it to others. We had the tasting menu and cocktails instead of wine pairings. The menu was well designed (both the tasting menu and the overall menu) and I think most diners would find something appealing. Our waitstaff was incredibly friendly and the food came out timely and was beautifully plated. If I had any criticism, I'd say a few of the dishes were weakly seasoned. For example, we had a lovely fresh greens salad-- and the salad greens were perfect -- but the meyer lemon vinaigrette was so faint as to be virtually absent.... in fact the greens almost seemed entirely undressed. Again, the greens were very good, but a bit more 'punch' on the dressing would have made it exceptional. It's important for kitchen staff to actually taste what's going out, I think sometimes a dish is designed by one person but implemented by another...and in these cases, the 'look' might be perfect...but the detailed flavors missing... the cocktails were outstanding and were we not flying home the next day, I'm sure we would have dined there a second time!
I went there for lunchtime. There were not so many people maybe 4 table are fill.
I was waiting food about 45minutes and server didn’t apologized. Every other table already had their food, so no reason we had to wait this long!
I was totally disappointed , also food was not so great. I’ve eaten here many times in the past but very disappointed this time. I won’t be going back!
I don’t recommend to my friends anymore....sorry you lost good customer!
This restaurant is lovely, from the knowledgable serving staff to the interesting meals and prep (and the flexibility to modify for a picky child) to the local, fresh food. We'll definitely be back when we are in Honolulu again.
Waitress a bit inattentive also picked up our desert before we were finished. Felt a bit rushed. Food delicious as always.
Town is solid with well prepared and creative cuisine. They do not rush you and we felt like we were dining in Europe. This is our go to restaurant when in Honolulu.
Always delicious. We are never disappointed. Creative.
Town has been in it's current location for twelve years... this was our first visit. It was recommended by someone who lives on the island. The local farm to table concept works out well for this restaurant. The dishes we had were wonderful, our server was great, and having Jordan (Manager) share his passion for food was enjoyed by us both. We will definitely return to Town on our next visit!
Great local restaurant in Kaimuki. Across the street from Mud, Hen, Water and Superette - all Ed Kenney places. Features local ingredients and creative meals. Very enjoyable at a reasonable price.
Great fries! Pasta is always a good choice too. Consistent and tasty.
Great choice for Valentines dinner
Good food, good service, our friends really enjoyed it, too! It won’t be our last time at Town!
Our food overall was disappointing. I used to eat here a lot and haven't returned in a while. The service was slow, our steak was hard, the appetizers were mediocre unfortunately. I don't think I'll be back again.
Superb farm to table food and outstanding service!
Town was great! Food & wine both delicious and service was friendly, knowledgeable, & prompt. A delightful evening all around.
Food was good. Waiter was a little stand off-ish at first but was okay. Even though it was for my friend's birthday, they did NOTHING to help me acknowledge it which was very disappointing.
Sophia the waitress was the best part of the meal, really tremendous. Leek soup a bit expensive at $9, but was very good, the killer was the eggplant bread which cost $13 and came with only one piece of bread. The pasta was good, but over priced at $23 for what we received. Cut place, but not much value in the offerings, but as stated above. Sophia was a great waitress.
Outstanding food, best meal on our trip, would highly recommend!!!
Food was well presented and tasty. Eggplant bruschetta had a great topping but the bread was very hard to bite or cut into. Goat cheese pancakes with lilikoi was delicous but portions were small. Gnocchi was excellent
Went for first time to try their pasta, but pasta maker broken. Had Penne pasta instead with same sauce: okay. Waitress was nice, but hadn’t brought bread until much later and only because we had to ask.
Great food, cocktails, service (Olivia) and atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our night, thx!
Food expectations were not met
Service was awful..waiter got order wrong and 6 of us were served food one by one.
Maitre D didn'teven acknowledge us and ignored us as we were leaving.
So not the good foos Honolulu experience we were told of.
The service was very slow. Quite delicious food but we waited 45 minutes and they weren't very busy at 6:15.
