Town Hall - DC Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant didn't have a descent amount of food to choose from for lunch. It was thirty min before dinner and I asked if we could order from the dinner menu because it was my husbands birthday but the answer was no. We asked again and the answer was no. We would have left but my husband wanted to give the lunch a try. We ordered and the food came out hot and food was tasty. I just wished we could have ordered from the dinner menu because my husband had his heart set on having a dish from the dinner menu and like I said it was his birthday. We traveled two hours to try out this restaurant but no one seemed to care. The waitress just stressed that they are a stickler to what time meals are offered.
steak was most definitely expired and had a horrible smell. our server kept rolling her eyes when we asked her a question about the menu. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone nor would I go back. too many negatives: services, food and wait time.
Our server was fantastic. He really made us feel as if we were eating in one of the most upscale places in D.C. As a tourist, it makes me want to recommend this restaurant to all my friends who travel there, and to return to the city for more great dining. I had the shrimp risotto and it was absolutely phenomenal.
Nice casual dining experience. We spotted the place on a whim and found the food tasty. I had the falafel burger. Talk about a lot of food! Not like your traditional three small falafel chunks under a bun. This was a solid and THICK patty. I thought it could have used a bit more sauce, but it was good, just the same. Wait staff were attentive and personable. The young ladies at the front desk weren't paying attention to the reservation schedule because when we arrived, her exclamation was, "Ohh!" #foodie #dmv #falafel #gloverpark #dcdining #wilworksdc
We came for a date night. We ordered the quest fundido, which was excellent! Unfortunately that was the highlight of the evening. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich and the meat was tough and gristly. I had a salad, which was fine but nothing special. The bar is lively, but the ambiance is just ok. Not sure we would go back.
6 of us (family) went for a celebratory dinner after the Women's March. Made a reservation (though same day). Was kind of surprised that they set up our table in the bar area, rather than the actual dining area. But it worked out ok, at least after I asked them to turn down the terrible music playing from the speaker directly above us.
It's a reliable neighborhood joint. In nice weather we really enjoy sitting at high tables in bar area with open windows onto avenue. Being outside with the comforts of inside - and great people watching on street as well!
Service was very good, server checking in on our table with good frequency. Kitchen timed dishes well. Quality also good. The shrimp saganaki wasn't prepared as I expected but good though. Pork chop was a quality piece. Rigatoni was tasty but appears to be overpriced at $22 considering the lack of sausage in the dish. there was some but not enough to make me think I got my value's worth. Would go back for another meal there.
five friends gathered for first time in months. and there was an unexpected guest brought. we were all very excited and so, it seemed, was the servers. there were smiles all around and much help to get all settled down (cause needed an extra place set). food choices pleased Everyone. it was beautifully cooked and presented. we all agreed: this is our go-to meet place from now on!
We had a decent meal at Town Hall. I had read lots of review online indicating that dogs were allowed; so I made a reservation, just to be called and told that they are only allowed M-Th. This should be better advertised. The meal was OK - not bad, but not great. I like their patio, however, it was very disappointing when our neighbors put up an umbrella, blocking the warm sun from our table. I would give Town Hall another chance, although I really do think they should re-think their dog policy.
I very rarely write reviews.
I asked for a burger with no cheese on it. I told them specifically this twice. It came with cheese all over it. I asked for a complete new burger. They said ok and I wound have not had an issue. That happens to me often. I got back the same burger and saw little cheese leftovers on it. I asked if it was a new burger and they first said yes and then acknowledged it was not.
To their defense, the manager apologized credited is for my food and drink and gave a gift card. From a service perspective I appreciated that and will consider going back.
I chose Town Hall for our Mother's Day brunch based on the reviews and location and we were not disappointed. We were able to sit on the patio at a great table and the wait staff were attentive and helpful. The kids menu is typical fare, but my son's burger looked amazing. We had the Apple Fritters and they were so good we had to order a second order! The breakfast food looked excellent. Only failure was my Quesadilla which was supposed to have pulled chicken in it - but it was mostly cheese. Should have gotten the burger for around same price. Coffee was also quite good. Really enjoyed the brunch and will return for date night soon.
This review is about the management and the staff. We had been to dinner at Town Hall two days earlier. Washington DC was hit by a blizzard on our second visit and there was no where else to go that was open. I had made a reservation several days earlier before the bad weather arrived. However, once we got the snow off of our boots and with the place as crowded as it was, they seated us in the dining room right on time. If the staff was tired or feeling overworked, they didn't show it. They were friendly and attentive although they had been on their feet all day. We enjoyed our dinner and then went back out into the snow!
My wife and I had dinner at Town Hall because its a convenient location on Wisconsin. Its a busy bar scene in the main room but there is a separate dining room off to the side that is usually quiet. Service was attentive and friendly. The menu is basic American but with a wide range - from sandwiches and salads to steak and pork loin. We have visited Town Hall several times and have found service and food very consistent and they have always met our expectations.
