We have been to town many many times. However, this time was with my family and baby. They had picked out a table that could not accommodate a highchair. Then they moved us and waited 10 minutes for anyone to serve us. Our food was okay but not Town standard. My husband ordered the Bass and it was overpowered by Jalapenos. he could not eat it nor did he want anything else, all he tasted was jalapenos.
It has been our favorite spot, but it has changed over the last two years. Not what it use to be.
The butternut squash enchiladas were delicious. Definitely a must have! The meat and cheese tray as a starter was good. Fun cocktail menu!
Our food was excellently prepared and elegantly served. The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone. We chose outside seating. We celebrated my wife's birthday and talked for nearly two hours without feeling hurried to free up a table on a busy night. This is the perfect venue for a special occasion.
Was in Carbondale visiting my brother and dad. Went to Town one of the nights we were there, and Beau, the chef, made us an amazing meal; and, since it was our dad's birthday/father's day, Beau topped it off with the homemade s'mores ice cream, it didn't last long. The service was great, the setting is awesome, but Beau made it the special day that is was. Thanks!
As always, food & service did not disappoint. Local seasonal fare exceptionally prepared and timely knowledgable service. Love this place.
You will find some unusual combinations on the menu. We started with a chicken liver pate to spread on bread, excellent. The pork belly small plate was garnished with an apple butter and walnuts. They were crispy and very satisfying. The lamb large plate was cooked perfectly and served with fava beans and asparagus. Husband had the striped bass and had it served in a delectable broth with mussels. He also had a salad, but I don't remember what it was. We would have loved to try one of the desserts but there just wasn't any room left in our tummies.
Our meal at Town was a highlight of our recent Colorado trip - but it remains one of the best meals we've had this year. Bread basket was so tasty, excellent lamb, delicious steak, and a caramel pudding type dessert im still dreaming of.
The butternut squash enchiladas were delicious. The artichokes in the salad were inedible.. The server was kind enough to substitute something else.
We had prix fixe. The value was TREMENDOUS! Well done!
Great food made interesting with the addition of just the right spices . The Black Mussels starter was awesome with the roasted red pepper sauce.
Lovely dinner on Mother's Day. Service was prompt and the food delicious. One of my favorite spots in Carbondale.
Great food, great drinks, great beer selection, good service.
Prices are good $14-28
Town is one of our favorites when skiing in Aspen/Snowmass. It is worth the drive to Carbondale since the food is excellent and the service not pretentious but attentive. Whether you want pork bellies, osso bucco, oysters, hamaki tuna or other dishes, you will be pleased. The breads are are a trademark as well. The excellent food is notable and Town is highly recommended for those seeking lovely dinner without the pomp and prices of Aspen.
Multiple visits by now, always delighted with food, service, ambiance, inner room much more pleasant, less noisy.
As usual the food was terrific!!! And the service and ambiance was perfect. Could not recommend it more!!
Food was wonderful. ..loved the Brussel sprouts $
Went on the busiest restaurant day of the year and they killed it. Food was excellent, out in a timely manner, delicious. Not an easy feat. They even gave us Prix fixe pricing! Can't wait to come back when we're in the area.
I was in town for work alone so I didn't get to try all the amazing things I wanted to. The menu was creative and interesting and the items I tried (Angnolotti with Braised Goat, Brussels sprouts) were amazing. Can't wait to go back with more people so I can try more things!
Another hit for Mark Fisher of 689 and The Pullman. I recommend the craft beers and great wine list, along with the lamb tacos.
It was our first visit and we will be back (we come to the area a couple times a year). We loved the local feel, enjoyed the food (loved the Brussels sprouts!! ...and I get them every time I see them on a menu).
In fact, we liked Town so much that I made a point of visiting their sister restaurant, Harman's, when in Denver the very next night (cauliflower salad was to die for!).
Their specialty drinks are amazing! Sunday is a good time to go because of a killer $20 meal deal
I loved the atmosphere and the food at Town but our waiter seemed to be too cool for school. He seemed very uninterested in our table and while I would not say the service was terrible, it was more that he seemed quite bored. My in laws are locals in Basalt and I look forward to eating out each time we go and we often go to the Pullman for dinner. I look forward to going back and having a different server.
The Town restaurant is one of my favorites as a local. The menu is constantly changing with seasonal fare, and the options are excellent.
Very poor entre quality and preparation and very poorly seasoned. Salt on the table might have helped! Terrible server with way more attitude than one needs on a Friday night ... Just overall an awful dinning experience. We will not be back to Town for dinning.
Town is a superior restaurants that has earned its reviews in National Publications. It is better than any restaurant in Aspen, Snowmass, or Vail - Beaver Creek, and, certainly at the top in Colorado.
Dined on a Tuesday way early season, so I can't speak to the atmosphere, but the food was great as it always is. Reservations absolutely recommended at least a week in advance during prime time.
A trip to Carbondale is never complete with out a trip to town!
We have loved this restaurant since it opened. A unique atmosphere and very pleasant staff. My hanger steak was done perfectly. I ordered rare, precisely, and it was just the way I expected it to be. My husband's mac and cheese was another winner. He ordered the roasted beets as a side for us, yummy!
When it came time for dessert, we were both too full, thinking of the butterscotch budino. So instead of getting a comp dessert for my birthday - they comped the beets!
Town is such a find. You can go to Aspen and pay twice as much, and you still won't be as happy. The food is just great , the scene is fun, and the prices are unbelievable. We love this place.
Food was just amazing! We had the clam "chowder" with bone marrow butter broth and 12 sweet clams in their shells. We also had the sweet potato bisque with a swirl of chili-infused oil on top. Both were fabulous! My companion had the burger with cheddar on a brioche and said it was the best he'd had in quite some time. I had the mustard crusted salmon - also amazing. Highly recommended!
Visiting the area from out of state. Open Table gave it a 4star review and we all agreed. Good food in a great location where our party of 8 was cheerfully accommodated. We've already recommended it to others.
We've been to Town on many visits to Carbondale since it opened and always love it. But this time the man who took our orders and served drinks was so weirdly snarky it was downright unpleasant. As we all know, there are many things that go into making a dining experience. A pleasant wait staff is right up there with the food. But on the plus side - the photo exhibit you've got going on is terrific too. Worth coming back in the morning as we did for the excellent pastries. The morning crew was delightful.
We have been to Town many times, it's one of our favorite restaurants in the Valley. However, we had a poor experience this time because our main course orders "got lost in the shuffle" and we therefore had to wait a while for it to finally arrive. Even though they were happy to comp half the meal, they still ended up charging us each for half, ultimately charging the full amount. Eventually, they just comped the entire meal. Not a great experience but good service recovery. We do love Town, so we will probably give it another shot, hoping this was time was just a one-off.
eight of us came at 830 on a Saturday night.
it was pretty empty but the food was awesome for everyone.
We ordered a bread basket, two different types of salads, 4 entrees, 2 drinks and 2 desserts. Every single item we ordered was DELICIOUS!!! Our servers were super friendly and answered all our questions. We are definitely coming back.
I don't mind paying for a bread course, but it needs to have a better variety of bread. A bunch of bread with raisins is not my idea of a bread course. If that is the case give it or free.
We sat out on the patio for a wonderful dinner. Very relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommended.
We had eaten at this restaurant a year ago and loved it. We are not sure what has gone on as the food was very ordinary, the service was O/K but the overall experience was very disappointing
The hostess and waitress were lovely and made great suggestions! And the food was delicious - creative and flavorful. Wonderful ambiance as well!
