Great service and nice ambiance. The wine selection is ample enough, however not spectacular.
The food is of great quality and slightly adventurous, and I think it has no reason to be a bit more daring. My lentils were well cooked and the fishes (my wife had salmon and I did have barramundi) definitely not right off the ocean (happens in a mountain town). Cheese plate was unpretentious (only two types with hard cheeses) and the home made crackers were of such quality, that overpowered the otherwise generic cheese. Presentation of the foods is impeccable and our waitress was flawless. I would have loved something special from the house as it was our wedding anniversary. The dessert was well balanced and not a festival of sugars. Well done and hope to try other items (definitely not from the ocean) next time
This is the best restaurant in the Carbondale/Glenwood Springs area. I have driven here from Denver just to have dinner. It's that good.
Be sure to take in Phat Thai directly across the street, which is owned by the same person and spectacular in its own right.
Town is a wonderful gem in Carbondale. Located downtown, the warm but modern dining room offers a wide array of food and beverage. The cocktails were stupendous and the appetizers (we had the trout spread special which was insanely delicious) were second to none. The mains were excellent and filling - we had the steak with blue cheese butter and the salmon - both outstanding.
We had a very good meal at Town on Valentine's Day. The service was good except that it took a long time to be greeted after we had been seated. The ambience was good but the tables are too close together to have a romantic or private conversation. I felt like the people on either side of me were sitting at the same table with my boyfriend and I.
Vibrant fresh food and exceptional service. We stopped in for an early Saturday dinner and all enjoyed their selections. Dom the gemelli and smoked chicken, oven roasted salmon, to the ever popular skirt steak. Impressive preparation and swift delivery to accommodate our short time window. Don't miss out on the truffle fries. Best in the Roaring Fork Valley including Aspen!
town. never disappoints, especially their sunday supper pre fixe deal. However, it did seem like our server was discounting the quality of service alongside the discounted pre-fixe. He didn't seem to be working as hard as he would have been if it were a full price night, which was disappointing and discouraging towards going on a full price night - would his energy still be that blase? However, the atmosphere and food was amazing as always
We love this restaurant and often go for casual or for an occasion. We've gone as tables of 4 for something more intimate or with larger parties. The food is great, the staff is great, we always feel welcomed and well looked after. We like that the restaurant looks to use local foods and goes with the seasons. The wine has always been great, too. Our only complaint: The acoustic in there is not good and so with the piped music, even if the restaurant is not busy, there is a noise that none of us enjoy and we find a little difficult to talk over. We find ourselves raising our voices. If the acoustics were different, the room would tolerate the noise but as it is, it's always just noisy. We love it in spite of the noise but the restaurant would be even cozier or more inviting if the music level were turned down and also if a type of music were chosen to handle the noise level. It's not a question of type of music but it should be something that enhances the atmosphere and doesn't just add to the clatter and clutter. That is our only complaint. Otherwise, my friends and I are always so happy at Town.
As always the food was fantastic. Service is hit or miss at Town though and this night was a big miss. Service was awkward, inept and slow. They were a bit busy when we arrived, but generally speaking only moderately busy. They need to rethink their training program
reservation of 16 ws hapazzard chaotic manager is very surely and arrogant. he is the small town of Carbondale for god's sake. food was average. sat in bar for 30' hoping to have a drink before dinner asked 4 different wait staff for help and was told by all 4 that it wasn't their responsibility. when he finally flagged a person for our orders, the table was rady-then the chaos really started
