Very sad to see Town get pushed out of Carbondale due to new building owners pushing high rent. This was a solid establishment that will be sorely missed.
Love this place, I really wish it was staying around but life goes on.
Thanks for all the memories Mark & Lari.
Heartbroken that this lovely restaurant is closing this week ... have had amazing meals and service there every time we visited Carbondale.
Conservatively dined there 30 times and loved it all.
If you have a local restaurant you live - don’t wait until it is closing to support it ❤️
Thanks to everyone at Town
We will miss TOWN! Not having 689 or Town in the valley is truly a sad occasion.
Sad to hear the owner of the building is selling out! Great place! Love the food and atmosphere. Hopefully the next place is just as good and not just another over expensive restaurant.
Wonderful birthday celebration and reunion dinner for four, in the front / main dining space. The wines by the glass and mixologist cocktail were excellent. The farm to table dinner menu was superb, sourcing local ingredients. The Roasted Brussels Sprouts appetizer was the surprise hit of the evening. The Bread Course appetizer, Grilled Alaskan Halibut, Grilled Pork Chop and Grilled Flatiron Steak entrées were all excellent. For "sugar", town. presented the birthday guest with a Butterscotch Budino (salted camel sweet cream) with a candle in it that put smiles on everyone's faces. And we shared the seasonal Palisades Peach and Blueberry Crumble which was so fresh and yummy! A nice way to transition out of summer and into autumn. Lastly, our server Sam was a delight and very attentive. Overall we would definitely return and try town's. other dishes.
Our dinner Friday was fortunately an unusual experience. Our server seemed a disorganized and was inattentive. About meals did not come out together and in fact so far apart that we each ate separately. When I finally received my mac and cheese it was luke warm and by the time my husband's meal was served my son and I were both finished with our dinners.
We will definitely go back based upon previous experiences. This was just an unfortunate night.
Always delicious, always fresh! I am never disappointed.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Excellent food, service and ambience!
If you want fresh, local food that is unique and delicious, this restaurant is the best in the valley....and that includes Aspen! Prices are a lot better than Aspen too. My only complaint is the noise level in the main dining area is way too much....they need to put in some soft surfaces to absorb all the noise of an always busy venue. In spite of this we eat there every two weeks or more. Don't miss it. Great food and service.
Surprisingly terrific in every way! What we loved about Town was its down-to-earth competence. There was no snobbishness or standoffishness from any of the staff members, especially our delightfully competent server Sam from Iowa. He was all you could want in a server - attentive, knowledgeable, available, and congenial. He anticipated our needs before being uttered while he also was giving his other tables the equally high level of service we were receiving. He offered us great guidance with the menu and his recommendations did not disappoint.
We're from the greater Denver area and fly fish in Carbondale/Basalt almost every year. We a hardworking, straight-forward couple in our 60s who appreciate excellence, simplicity, and a lack of pretension. The atmosphere at Town matched us perfectly, which is sometimes hard to find in the wealthy Colorado mountain towns.
The food at Town was terrific. Our favorites turned out to be non-entree selections - the roasted Brussel sprouts, heirloom tomato arugula salad, and the AMAZING mac and cheese. For entrees the four of us enjoyed the steak (excellent), Scottish salmon (superb), butternut squash enchiladas (very good) and the lemony pasta (very good). We also had the smores dessert and the blueberry peach cobbler - both terrific. Needless to say we did not go away hungry nor did we leave feeling ripped off by the bill. We happily paid the tab and said we'd be back. DO try Town and their thoughtful menu. Ask for Sam if you can. You'll get the best of everything Town has to offer.
We come back to Town again and again for the great food, welcoming staff and uplifting atmosphere. In the summer, we love to sit outside, linger over small plates and wine and watch people walk by down Main Street. Don't miss this Carbondale gem!
We had a wonderful dinner at Town to celebrate our 1st Anniversary! Their patio seating is wonderful. The cocktails were delicious (and reading the cocktail menu is great entertainment!) and our meal was wonderful. A little on the pricey side, but great for a special occasion. It was the perfect dinner during Carbondale's First Friday artwalk.
We were visiting Carbondale on our yearly instate trip. Our meals were terrific and prepared to our liking. Service was also great.
Great restaurant & great service! We liked it so much we ate dinner at Town two days in a row. The squash blossoms and butternut squash enchiladas were yummy!
We'll always miss Six89 and Grana Bakery just a little bit, but it's hard to argue with Six89 and Grana Bakery having essentially fused into Town and offering the best of both worlds. As much as we loved our dinner here this trip, our multitude of breakfasts were arguably even better. Perhaps the best embodiment of the fused restaurants is the housemade bagel and smoked salmon spread, with no element short of perfect. Again dinner was excellent as well, with outstanding dishes made with terrific local ingredients, well-conceived original cocktails, and a nice, fairly-priced wine list. Multiple visits are a must every time we're nearby, we can't wait to return.
My friends and I enjoyed the meals we had at Town. It's great being able to get half orders of the pastas which were excellent. I loved the grilled shishito peppers. We ate on the patio which seemed much quieter than the dining room. Definitely will go there the next time I'm in Carbondale.
Really enjoyed Town in the past for a drink and appetizer. We brought our family for a dinner-- too expensive. Disappointed in the gnocchi salad. Much more lettuce than anything else. Not really a pasta dish.
Very noisy. Food just average. Very disappointed.
