Tower Oaks Lodge Ratings and Reviews
We dine here at least once a week and our favorite server makes all the difference in the world. Takes it from 3-4 stars to 5 stars consistently. Great service makes all the difference so when you experience this please let your server know, remember them when the check comes amd let restaurant managent know. Great servers deserve our thanks and praise.
Server took our orders and we didn’t see him again until it was time to order desserts. Someone else brought our appetizers, our entrees, and refilled our drinks. Server left dessert menus and disappeared for a long time before taking our dessert orders. When the server was available he was good, but we felt a little neglected.
The ambiance at Tower Oaks is superb -- worth a visit if you only want to have a drink at the bar. But the menu is varied and the food is really good -- the NY strip is thick, juicy and flavorful and I love the grilled calves liver. Our waiter, John L, was superb -- friendly and attentive. Valet parking is free. The only flaw as that we were kept waiting for 20 minutes to be seated by a front desk guy who forgot us, but that has never happened at the Lodge before. Go. Enjoy.
Had a lovely Valentines Day dinner. Seated at a ideal corner booth in the Tack Room. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Escaped paying less than $150 for two including dessert, wine and tip. All told Clydes at Tower Oaks has tremendous ambiance without being pretentious.
It was Valentine's day, so the bar and dining room were crowded, but the service was still excellent, as was the food. The noise level in the bar made conversation somewhat difficult but was not overwhelming. Overall it was a great experience on on of their busiest days.
Delicious Valentine's Day dinner of oysters, haddock, trout, and shared apple crisp for dessert. We were in a cozy booth in the back of the Adirondack Room near the fireplace. Our server was perfect, knowing when to be attentive when we needed it and leaving us alone when we wanted it. Great experience.
Our family had a great Valentine's Day dinner at Clyde's Tower Oaks. We applaud the chef's flexibility in preparing a vegetarian version of our entree by leaving out the meat. Our waitress was pleasant, and even though we had to sit in the bar, we still enjoyed our evening.
The new manager, Anthony, introduced himself, and asked if we were enjoying ourselves. We were treated as welcome guests, and will be back.
Although we have gone to Tower Oaks for about 15 years, we had some bad experiences last year. We had unfortunate experiences with a very rude waiter and waitress on two separate occasions, and stopped frequenting Clyde's. However, because Tower Oaks Lodge was the only restaurant with an opening at dinner time, it was our only choice for Valentine's Day. We are happy that Clyde's has hired some good people again. We had a good Valentine's celebration.
Everything was great except the table we were sat at was very small and the chairs were very uncomfortable. We asked for a booth but were unable to get one. There were a few empty when we sat down and eventually the filled up but those people could have sat at the table we were sat at.
We had a very good meal and very good service. However, we were seated in the Tack room where we normally enjoy the ambiance but on this particular evening, 2/13/2018, the background noise level was so loud we couldn't hear each other and my wife had a headache by the time we left. I think the noise level was the cumulative effect of many people trying to talk loud enough to be heard which in turn caused others to have to speak louder. The wooden wall paneling and ceiling are beautiful but it the room could use more sound absorbing material.
Another happy customer! Great lunch and a wonderful server (don't know her name, but you know our reservation number - we ate in a booth in the Great Room). My friend particularly loves the calves' liver, and when it was not listed on the menu, she was quite disappointed; however, we asked our server who said the liver is one of the dishes that is generally available, even when not on the menu. She checked the kitchen, and indeed it was. I had the duck confit -butternut squash salad - outstanding! We talked and lingered and were never rushed in any way. Only small complaint - had asked for a booth by the window, but was seated in a booth on the aisle. Otherwise just a marvelous afternoon delight.
I love this restaurant. My only complaint, which is my usually complaint at restaurants, is the constant clearing of dishes and bringing the bill right away. It makes us feel rushed. When we go to a nice restaurant like this we want to linger and have a relaxing meal.
We enjoyed another great dining experience at Tower Oaks Lodge this week. The gathering was to celebrate a birthday & to just be together with 4 friends that I worked with for many years. We always have a great time when we meet here for lunch & it has been our "go-to" place for lunch all this time with absolutely no reason to ever look for a different place to meet. We always enjoy the food, & the service & ambiance are excellent. Thanks Tower Oaks for doing such a great job all these years!!
The midday salads are not quite up to where they were. There seems to be some experimenting by the Chef, and it isn't working.
The Crab soup was great, but the salad I ordered sounded appealing, but it could have been dressed more interestingly. I don't remember the name but it had chopped broccoli , bacon and cheese and a shirred egg which were fine , but the small boiled potatoes didn't add anything. I left them.
My companion had the duck confit salad which he found very disappointing and left more than half of it. We both like Clyde's and will return, but will order with more care.
We have gone to Tower Oaks for more than 10 years on a regular basis and used to enjoy both the food and the casual ambiance. While the ambiance remains the same and is great for families of all ages, in the past two years, the menu has changed and the food quality has significantly declined, even over things I regularly get. The wait for drinks when ordering as part of dinner is becoming longer and longer, suggesting additional bartenders are needed to sustain the volume. This time I ordered the chicken radiatore, which despite having various vegetables in it, came out as one big green mess with the pesto overwhelming all other tastes. And although it was abundantly clear that I did not like it (the waiter even asked me, as most was still in my plate), no offer to replace it with something else as many restaurants do, was ever made. This restaurant will no longer be part of our "go to" places. Significant improvements in food quality need to be made.
We went during Brunch this time and were seated in the Jockey room which was almost full and tremendously noisy where we sat. We could barely hear each other talk. Perhaps if we were seated in the back against the wall near the fireplace the noise might have been a bit less. Service was very slow and not up to par. Asked for bread with my omelet and told that they only served coffee cake for brunch . We typically go later and that never happened before. In our opinion , all in all did not measure up to other times we have been there. ut will go again at the later time.
