Tower Oaks Lodge Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed the Baked Maine Haddock! The panko crumb crust was light and delicious. We asked the server to split the meal between my elderly friend and I. Each plate was perfect and the presentation was great! It was just enough for the 2 of us! We were very pleased.
We're from Wisconsin.
The North woods atmosphere made us feel right at home.
Our server was first class.
The food met all expectations.
We loved walking around looking at all the vintage art works. As collectors, we were extremely impressed. If the restaurant ever goes under, we'd be there in a heart beat to buy the collectables.
I was highly disappointed with my brunch at this restaurant. Our waiter was attentive and nice however all of the food sent to our table was cold and it took ten minutes for anyone to check up on us. Once they sent the food back they simply heated it up in a microwave, leaving it tough and nearly inedible. We went there as a nice brunch to send my child off to college and left disappointed to say the least
When we want to have a meal that we know will be tasty, we rely on Clyde's. My wife got the crab cakes which are some of the best in the DC area. I had the fried liver appetizer which was very good. I also had the lamb shank which I enjoyed. We got the apple cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. The service was very professional. Another delightful meal at Tower Oaks Lodge.
I went to Clyde's Tower Oaks as it is usually consistent. However, it was quite disappointing on this last visit. Reservations were for 8:00. Seated at 8:10 (not bad). Waited for more than five minutes before a waitress appeared at the table. Both of us ordered cheeseburgers medium rare. They came back overcooked. Sent them back and the next offering was also overcooked. Sent those back as well. On the third offering, they were cooked slightly better and we were too tired and hungry to object.
Great time again at our favourite family spot - Clyde's at Tower Oaks Lodge. We love everything at the place, starting with a good parking, great customer service, very good food etc. We also have our favourite server Mike, who is simply the best. He knows what we like, and always makes a very good recommendations.
My friend suggested going here. She and her husband dined here often. The atmosphere was amazing! We sat in the back room by the white wild cat and fireplaces. Very exotic. It took you back to an elegant Montana Lodge. Out came my
Brunch was delicious - the best Eggs Benedict in a long time. The Hollandaise sauce was just perfect and the Canadian ham very tender. (I personally did not care for the roasted potatoes with onions that came with it so I took them home for my husband who thought they were very good.).
My friend had the bluefish sandwich. She said it tasted as good as it looked! Crispy on the outside and moist and flakey on the inside.
I definitely would recommend Clyde’s Tower Oak Lodge to anyone. It is a fun experience with excellent service (our Server was just lovely!) and a unique atmosphere. The menu (brunch) had some very unusual “Old Country” food that one rarely sees anymore. The majority of the food was familiar. Can’t wait until I go there with my husband. My friend said dinners are even better!
I have visited Tower Oaks on multiple occasions over the years and have never had a problem. Last evening, we were there to celebrate a birthday and it was the worst experience thus far. First off, the hostesses did an amazing job as always. Once seated, that’s where things went downhill. We ordered the Calamari and it came out very rubbery. Next once our food came out, all of our orders had an issue. The crab cakes and Salmon were undercooked and un seasoned. They brought out buttered noodles for our son when we clearly asked for Mac and cheese, finally my open faced Turkey sandwich was probably the worst I’ve ever eaten. Even with the gravy, it was dry and lacked flavor. While I love the Ambiance that Tower Oaks once had, we felt rushed and as indicated, the food was just not up to par. Should we have asked for a manager? Yes, but it really wouldn’t have changed anything because the evening was ruined. Would I go there again? Probably. It could have been an off night for the kitchen, but I can’t make any excuses.
We planned an early (3:30) Sunday dinner with friends. Tower Oaks has become our regular spot to get together because we always have an overall great experience. The food was excellent, service excellent and ambiance lovely. Décor just beautiful for a cozy Winter dinner visit with friends.
Tower Oaks Lodge is one of those places that never fails to meet expectations. You know what you're getting and you know it's going to be good. I particularly appreciate how accommodating everyone is to the senior clientele. I can bring my 84 year old aunt in her wheelchair and I know they're going to make her as comfortable as possible.
Fine food, attentive service, and enjoyable ambiance make this one of our favorite spots for lunch or dinner with friends. We like to test the quality of cuisine by partaking of Maryland crab cake. Plenty of crab meat in big chunks makes this one of the finest crab cakes we have found nearby. We like to order from the dinner or lunch menu - where some of the finer dishes can be found. Unfortunately, only the brunch menu was available before 4 PM because it was a weekend days. This menu has no dinner fare at all and a limited lunch selection. Thanks to the waiter, we managed to find interesting fare and enjoyed it. Still, we resolved to time our next visit at dinner or at a weekday lunch to avoid getting stuck with the brunch menu. There was a selection of oysters, the option to mix and match, and all were great. I had just ordered my oysters when the waiter mentioned that they were half price that day. They proved to be truly delicious! One of us had a wonderful beer from Sam Adams. A glass of Cabernet, however, proved less memorable.
I just love Clyde’s Tower Oaks. Great food at reasonable prices. Tonight we both had the haddock. Served with rice pilaf and green beans almandine. I swapped out the rice for truffled mac-n-cheese for a small upcharge. Fish was done to perfection service attentive but not obtrusive. Overall a great dinner.
Tower Oaks is in a great location and was chosen to accommodate folks coming from Frederick, DC and VA. We were celebrating a retirement and the server allowed sufficient time for us to catch up and the cake slice for Janet was very thoughtful.
All said their food was good.
