Tower Oaks Lodge Ratings and Reviews
This our "go to" place for food...lunches, dinners, brunches, Happy Hours" Just the best. The food is consistently excellent and full of variety. The cocktails and wines are of high quality and a fair price and the ambience is great no matter which room you are in . We just celebrated a birthday, but we've celebrated many occasions there. The servers are always friendly and helpful. From my point of view, it's the best of all the Clyde's restaurants with Old Ebbitt Grill, being a close second!
Tower Oaks Lodge was perfect for a delicious lunch and time with a friend whom I hadn't seen since our college years. Service was excellent and we were given as much time as we needed to visit. I live in Virginia, but have really enjoyed Clyde's at Tower Oaks.
We took out good friends as our guests. My wife and I had the veal chops which were excellent and our guests had crab cakes and Halibut, which they enjoyed. The drinks were great as ordered. Cliff waited on us and he is the best server they have. We received special attention from Jonathan Jenus who is a manager there. It was very special
We appreciated that a table was waiting for us when we arrived, and we didn't have to wait to be seated. However, considering the time of the evening and the fact that the restaurant was not full, the wait for our order being placed and returned was not easily explained. The atmosphere is still lovely and the food is still quite good. I'd probably order something different next time. My family enjoyed the evening out. The birthday brownie was SUPERB, however, don't expect a 'rah-rah' acknowledgement. We will be back. More likely we will plan for lunch.
My family likes this place better than I do. It was very busy when we drove up so I was grateful for the complimentary valet parking! Once inside I checked in and was told my party was already here and told to go down the hall and to the left. NOT sufficient as the place is big and I could find my party as there was only 1 person at the table tucked behind a column in the far back corner of the room. I had to go back to the hostess and asked to be shown to the table which is what should have happened in the first instance. The food was good but the service was slow because they were so busy.
I got together for lunch at Tower Oaks Lodge with a few friends yesterday. We hadn't been there in awhile and were glad to return. The decor is wonderful and it's great to have that 'in the woods' feeling as you drive up and enter the restaurant. There's a varied menu and the food was good. We were there for lunch and the service was a little bit slow, and we had to flag our waiter down a few times for more water, etc. However, we did have a good time and will return!
It was very busy for a Tuesday, but everyone from the valets to the waiters seemed overwhelmed. Service was S L O W from beginning to end, waited 15 minutes for kids menus, at least 30 for the food. Order had wrong side and wasn't cooked properly but there was no way I was sending it back. Overall very disappointing, not what I remember it being.
ordered a lobster and it was one that was dead for a day or two before it was cooked. How can you tell, the tail meat comes out a mealy mess. I have many Maine lobster men as friends and they say the dead lobsters have to be used right away or the tail meat quickly deteriorates.
They did bring a replacement lobster which was great.
We were just two. They say us next to two different large groups making it hard to talk. We ordered mimosas they came out pulpy and had very little champagne. The menu for brunch is limited, and they do not have just an egg and meat combo. Also, the boots are high and the cushions long, making it hard for mommy wife to sit, as she is 5ft tall.
Our waitress was slow and did not do much to help after we mentioned the problem with the Mimosa. I think she was new.
Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing because of terrible service. Waiter had no personality, was extremely inattentive, and appeared to be somewhat inexperienced. We spoke to the manager about him. Service was definitely not up to Clyde's standards. It would not keep me from going back, as the service at Clyde's is usually excellent.
Clyde's Tower Oaks is a family favorite. This past visit didn't disappoint. At first, we were a bit skittish about 6 of us being squeezed into a booth, and while we would have preferred a bit more space, it ended up being fine-- cozy, but fine. Every one of us was delighted with our food choices-- collectively we enjoyed the catfish, pan-fried trout, salmon, and the Maine lobster. We all agreed that the Maine lobster is worth going out of your way for!
