Had a 7 pm Friday night reservation and our table was ready right on time. Hostess was chatty and friendly. Server was top notch with great suggestions. Food was magnificent. Southern classics w modern twists. Fried devil eggs and hush puppies for apps. Wife had the turkey and dumplings and I had the charred ribeye for entrees. Both were fantastic. Dessert stole the show. Ooey gooey pie and bread pudding = phenomenal. Overall great experience for a first visit and can’t wait to go back.
Great short ribs, and the cornbread is outstanding!
Had a amazing time service was great. Waiter explained the menu well and was pleasant. Food came out in a timely manner and hot. Food was amazing. I had the chicken and shrimp jambalaya whuch flavors was just right. My guest had the fried chicken with collard greens. Will definitely visit again and tell people about it.
Great ambiance, great food, many unique dishes! This was our second visit and just like the first, the service was great and staff pleasant and accommodating! Highly recommended.
Excellent as always. Truly one of the best in Buffalo.
Service was ehh. But that seems to be the norm there lately. Not very tentative wait staff... takes forever to give drink order and then to actually get the drinks?... and if you are going to a show and waiting for the check good luck....
BUT... the menu, and food is always exceptional
Usually, Toutant is top notch. However with this experience there were two major issues. First, despite the fact that we indicated we had a theater performance to attend, we waited 25 minutes between appetizers and entrees. Our server simply disappeared. At that point we were in a time crunch and had to race through our entrees. Halfway through my entree, I found a 6 inch strand of hair in it. At that point we had to rush out and could not rectify the ssituation. Was very disappointed.
Generally good, but not as good as previous meals there. Still love the place and trust there will be better meals in the future.
The ambience of the place was amazing, the food breakfast sandwich lacked favor and presentation.
I had been wanting to try the brunch because I've loved the dinner experience at Toutant...& it did not disappoint. Great, traditional Bloody Mary! The waffle was fab with fresh apple preserves. My husband loved the biscuits & gravy. Beignets are always scrumptious! Get there early if you're trying to get a cinnamon bun! They were out by the time we got there for our 1:30 reso.
Excellent food and cocktails. We had the turkey and dumplings app and crap/shrimp jambalaya. Food was so good, that my girlfriend even said yes to marrying me after we ate there!
Great food at toutant as always! Service is outstanding and drinks are amazing!
Food / drinks were excellent as always. Typical newer restaurant in Buffalo, reclaimed house with open seating which leads to a higher noise level.
Biggest issue is that the menu is smaller than the past, only 6 main entrees plus 1-2 specials. Makes it difficult to go with more than a few people because someone may not find something they like. Look at the menu before hand.
Felt like I was dining right in New Orleans! Amazing
Always a great meal! We went another place recently paid the same amount of money and left with hungry bellies and a defeated bank account. Today we left Toutant with smiles and deciding when we can come back! Yummy
The well-seasoned, crispy skin on the fried chicken was to die for, especially paired with the perfectly tangy collard greens. The short rib was succulent and tender, too. Kudos to the chef!
Food is absolutely amazing. Service was lacking slightly but seemed like there was only one server on and she had multiple tables. Again the food is amazing.
Great ambiance and atmosphere. The menu is small but the features list is long when you get there and all of the comfort food makes you feel like you are right in the French Quarter. Overall one of the best restaurants in downtown Buffalo.
Got biscuits for the table and everyone agreed, they were the BEST we’d ever had. One diner got the fried chicken & loved it. Another had the jambalaya & it was so-so (the crab meat was utterly overshadowed by the sausage, but you can order it with your preferred meat/seafood). I had gumbo which was absolutely delicious. Bread pudding for dessert - the caramel sauce was amazing. Highly recommend Toutant.
Never have had a bad meal! Amazing service, the waitress was attentive. The food was outstanding, the BBQ of the week never disappoints.
First time there, and food was excellent!! Would highly recommend and look forward to going back again.
The food was awesome, staff excellent! Everything was perfect. Definitely a restaurant to return to and suggest!
Our experience was excellent. The hush puppies, fried chicken and brownie marshmallow dessert were delicious. I love the unique atmosphere and great wine selection. The service was top notch.
Went for dinner after the hockey game and had to wait a little bit for the table since the game ended a little early. Had a very nice bar with a very good bartender, but it is a bit tight as the restaurant is very narrow. The drink at the bar was very good, and then we walked up two flights of stairs to the top floor which had only two tables filled, so I was curious why we had to wait? The server came over quickly and she was very nice and friendly. She explained the specials was very helpful with our menu choices. The appetizers were very tasty and unique. then the main course came and the fried chicken was very crispy and flavorful, and the rib eye was also very good. We definitely enjoyed the meal and we will be coming back. As I really like the extensive whisky and bourbon menu.
Great and prompt service, food was fantastic, and all the staff was so friendly and happy.
Came in with my family for a birthday brunch. Received a follow up call from the restaurant after making my reservation through open table, looking to confirm my reservation and the allergy in our party- this was really appreciated. Our server, Mackenzie was fantastic. We were all new for brunch and he was more than helpful when asked for recommendations and also, once again, confirming the allergy on our table. He was on top of our waters, drinks, follow-up, the whole works. Brought out a birthday dessert for our guest, and split our checks up by couple without a problem. The food was amazing, as I've heard from others. I will absolutely be back- I need to try those cinnamon buns! Thanks for an amazing experience.
Everything was excellent from our greeter, waiter Malcolm to the main event the food, which truly exceeded my expectation. This was a farewell dinner for a friend who is leaving for a job in China so I was so glad that we chose Toutant.
I enjoyed Toutant, but I thought the food could have been better for the price. I got the burger, which was alright, but nothing special. I was expecting more for the price of the dinner. My boyfriend got the Jambalaya and it was alright. There was not much crab meat on it. It was not bad, but not great. I was expecting more, to be honest.
My wife and I are both from Louisiana and have been in Buffalo for about 2 years. We have tried other "Louisiana style" restaurants and this is the best so far. The food was authentic. And that is coming from a chef born and raised in Louisiana.
We are regulars at Toutant and this is the first time we were very disappointed in both food and service. Our waitress forgot to put in our order for appetizers. She also mumbled when she told us the specials and never checked back on us after we received our dinners. Our warm fudgy brownie was cold and it took her a long time to bring it out. We will be back but hopefully the wait staff is back on their game.
Fantastic as usual..
Becoming my favorite restaurant in Buffalo
Delicious food and great hospitality. It was my friends engagement dinner and they brought out complimentary champagne for a toast. Service was excellent and the environment was very nice
Great food and excellent ambiance, but you’ll pay a good bit for both. Definitely a great place for a date or special occasion, didn’t get to try the bar but the cocktails also looked delicious
Went for Valentines day
It was amazing. I had one of the best dishes ever. Waited almost a year to have it since they only offer it around this time of year. Well worth the wait! Crawfish stew
Everything was fine. I will probably go back. The experience was overwhelmingly average. The bang-for-buck ratio was flat, too. I would recommend trying them out.
Food and service very good as always
Very disappointing dinner at Toutant. First, they could not locate our reservation. They then made an error in my dinner, bringing the wrong entrée. That forced my wife and I to have to eat separately. I order the Jambalaya, which was supposed to be one of the house specialties. When the correct dish did arrive, it was 90% rice--some meat, but very few vegetables. Overall, it was not worth the price or the wait.
