Ideally, Toutant seeks to invoke the memories of its guests’ early childhood family dinners, demonstrating the heart, preparation, and comfort experienced at those gatherings. Guests are able to enjoy upscale Southern comfort fare from a menu featuring vast amounts of fresh Gulf seafood and shellfish, buttermilk fried chicken, and accurate renditions of numerous Southern favorites like jambalaya, house-smoked sausages, cast iron skillet cornbread, and authentic barbecue offerings. The beverage program features seasonal frozen daiquiris, local cider, beer and wine, as well as hand-selected bourbons, whiskeys, and moonshine.
Surprised by how good the venue was. We went on a date to celebrate our anniversary, and we're pleasantly surprised by gow good everything was. Our waitress was also very knowledgeable, which helpped in navigating our options.
Always great when we eat here!!
Most consistent high quality food and drinks of any restaurant in Buffalo. Toutant is probably my favorite restaurant in WNY.
Great food. Beautiful restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff
Food and Service was very good.
It was a little to cold at the bar and during dinner.
The restaurant was very nice and our waiter was helpful to provide us with his recommendations. The food was ok, I think we expected more considering the online reviews.
We had a great table for 4 that allowed us to share appetizers, enjoy the company and eat delicious food!
Moved away from Buffalo just as it opened and last week was my first chance to try it out, and wasn’t disappointed at all
Started with a small glass of sparkling wine. Provided by restaurant to celebrate.
Then shared oysters. And gumbo. Yum
Finished with jambalaya and collard greens. All things we love at other restaurant
We enjoyed everything. Wait staff was friendly.
Not only is the food fantastic but the front of the house service cleanliness and organization was impeccable.
Great service! Our server was very attentive but not to the point of being annoying. Loved the gumbo!
Best brunch in Buffalo, hands down. Toutant never fails to impress.
Absolutely amazing. Brunch was great and the service was spot on. Can't wait to go back and try dinner
Brunch was amazing
We had a party of 5 and all agreed the service from Annie was great but the food was terrible! The chicken was bland, greens tasted like pure vinegar , cornbread was salty and the grits undercooked. Ive been here before a few times not sure if the cook has changed but for a birthday dinner this was a disappointment.
food just seems to be getting better every time we visit.better than ever.
The food and service is wonderful! We sat upstairs. It was a bit warm in the building even though the air conditioner was running. It is an old building. If you like southern style Louisiana type food, this is restaurant is a must to visit.
This is a fantastic restaurant the reinvents southern style cooking. This unique twist of traditional southern favorites has something for everyone. To be honest, my wife read the menu in advance and was concerned that it was too heavy for her, and she absolutely loved it. You definitely want to dine here and bring lots of friends. They also have a great bourbon, spirits and beer menu.
Our second time here. First was tears ago. We arrived early and grabbed seats at the bar. We ordered a hurricane and an old ruler. Both were good, we stuck w the old ruler for the rest of our drinks. Service was great, we or6the cornbread, smoked pork hush puppies for apps. Both very good. The hush puppy serving size was big. I had the bbq of the week, Turkey w grilled potato salad, big portion for the side and the turkey was good. She had the jambalaya w crab and sausage, she enjoyed it. The jambalaya was a very big portion as well. We enjoyed it here and will enjoy coming back
We traveled to Buffalo and stumbled across this gem! The hostess greeted us and asked about our day, we told her we were from out of town and she welcomed us to Buffalo and told our server as well and they treated us amazing. The food and service was amazing! I would recommend this restaurant
Friends visiting from out of town
Overall, a pleasant experience with very good food. A bit noisy.
My meal (fried catfish) looked sloppy and didn’t taste great. I expressed that to my waiter who offered to exchange it which I declined. At that point I really didn’t want anything else after ordering appetizer, 2 sides and eating some of my Mom’s jambalaya. I was surprised they didn’t remove it from bill, especially since I didn’t finish even half of it and returned food. It’s evidence of customer service in my opinion. I’ve eaten here since they first opened and is sad that quality of food just isn’t as high.
Came in with some friends for brunch, mostly all of our first time there. Everything was awesome, food was delicious and Tyler was super attentive.
Food is always great and staff are very friendly and make good recommendations
When we drove up we were a little hesitant but once inside it was great ! The bar area was noisy but we were on the 3rd level and it was very quiet. Service was wonderful and the food was excellent ! The wine was just okay. I had the Cabernet and it wasn’t as full bodied as I’d like.
Our 2nd visit to Toutant was as enjoyable as our first. I loved the soft shell crabs entree and my wifes smoked turkey and smashed potatoes was excellent. Great service and friendly staff. Southern cooking with a twist is an apt description. Already thinking about our next visit.
Five stars each time I go there. Food, drinks, staff, ambience, etc. Top notch!
Standard American generous portions. Everything we ate was delicious and flavourful. The atmosphere was cool with high ceilings and fun arty light fixtures. We’d definitely visit again when coming through Buffalo.
Very cute building and decor. Staff was great and very knowledgeable. If you love whiskey they had over 3 pages of choices so, I'd say this is your place. Chicken was really good but idk feel like it was missing some spice or something in the breading. Overall it was a really good meal. I would probably go again.
Overall we enjoyed Toutant -- interesting menu, not overpriced. Nice space/ambiance! My fried chicken might have been a bit overfried and the collards really did need more seasoning. Hilly Billy and the Poe Boy (nicely prepared shrimp/tasty sauce) were a hit - as were the fried deviled eggs. Our server, however, left much to be desired. After waiting more than 10 minutes to find out if the bartender could make a Cajun Martini, I went downstairs myself to inquire. Though not a dig, I might question why a cajun-themed restaurant wouldn't have jalapenos for one and suggest hot sauce - KPaul would not have been pleased. Later, a diet Coke was ordered from the server who forgot about it. The role of server is service. At least we were not charged for the drinks -- thank you!
We’ve never had a bad meal at Toutant. Sometimes specials are repetitive but always good.
Amazing service, amazing food! Highly recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken!
We love this restaurant and have always had a great night out here. We had the corn dumpling appetizer and they were incredible. Still talking about them. Twice now we’ve had the seasonal dessert so my recommendation is go for it, even if it seems a bit unusual... we’ve never regretted. Only complaint, and not even really, was that it was really cold in there. The AC was cranked. So bring a sweater if you’re always cold (like me!)
Food was tasty. Service was excellent. Can be a bit loud at times. Overall very good dining experience.
One of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo. Such lovely people, such great service, and most importantly, such wonderful FOOD! Thank you!
Service was great, food was acceptable. Cocktails at the bar prior to dinner were not good.
Getting into the restaurant was quite seemless. Got to our table fast. Ordered a couple apps and the waitress had put in the wrong prefer and received cornbread instead of the eggs. I had thought the cornbread was part of the meal like bread you would normally get. So waited for my other app to come and it did not. The waitress mentioned that she put the order in wrong and wouldn't charge. No big deal there. I was happy about that. Ordered my main course ( jambalaya) with choice of 2 meats. I got both sausage and lump crab. Upon receiving my main dish there was no lump crab added. Told the waitress and she just sent me lump crab in a bowl for me to put in myself. The taste of the food was not to my liking but I paid as normal because I paid for a service and I'm not one to complain about things. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
It was a nice experience, the staff was nice it was a misunderstanding but they accommodated my situation greatly appreciated.
Nice setting and creative food. Good service. One of us was a vegetarian and everything we ordered that was meat-free lacked any seasoning or flavor, which was really disappointing.
