Tout Va Bien
The service was very friendly but not intrusive. The staff knew it was my birthday and surprised me with a celebratory dessert and champagne, which was much appreciated. We will absolutely go back when we are next in NYC.
We were warmly greeted, seated without waiting on a busy evening, and chose delicious meals from a menu that offered many classic favorites. Service was excellent as required for pre theater dining in our case. My entire family enjoyed our first-time dining experience at this restaurant.
We had a 5 reservation and both the service and meal were fantastic.
I M O .....La Sirene or Tartine are was better. They are also B Y O B
The wait staff was great!
Loved this little place, that hasn't been updated in years as far as I could tell. Classic menu, cooked just as one would hope, with charming attentive staff. And my friends and I could actually hear ourselves talk to each other. I will return
I've been before and we returned for a birthday dinner this week. I like the restaurant because it's old school French, is family-owned and has been around since the 1940s. The staff are very friendly and they came and sang when they brought dessert and also gave us sangria on the house after dinner. The food is good although some of the dishes are a touch on the pricey side.
We felt very welcome for the birthday and will definitely go back again.
The website says they have a pretheatre menu but it wasn’t available
My daughter cannot eat dairy and they could not accommodate her on any of their fish dishes. They said all the sauces were prepared before hand
Good food and great value. Wonderful service. Very convenient for before or after a show.
Very good food; great service. The place is old and kitschy and if that works for you, you'll love this place. My grandparents used to take me here in the late 60s-early 70s before theatre so I have a special affinity for the place. My guests were first timers who enjoyed their meals and plan on returning. We love the escargot, steak frites, and chocolate mousse.
Lovely little place - excellent food - attentive service.
New Years week holiday
Great spot for really good French food before the theater. It was a bit short staffed the night we were there due to a couple of large parties, but as soon as we let our waiter know our curtain time, everything went smoothly and quickly. Truly pleasant. We'll be back.
Food was excellent.
Wonderful restaurant!!!Food and Service second to none.
This is a wonderful little French restaurant that feels like a hidden gem. Very nice and knowledgeable waiters who help you select a wine for your tastes.
Wonderful as always!
Enjoyed a cozy and delicious French dinner before the show -service was excellent!
A hidden gem. Food classic excellent French cuisine
A delicious Christmas Eve dinner!
Excellent food. We went dec 23rd and the restaurant seemed understaffed. Everyone was working and trying very hard. I think they were down a server. Made me feel like I was visiting a cafe in Paris.
Visiting Tout Va Bien once more, after a number of years, was like visiting an old friend. Where else can one find tripe and rognons and, once upon a time but not this night, tete de veau? All loved (but not by most Americans that I know of) - and in an unpretentious, cozy, busy setting, crowded when full, as it was this night (and probably many nights). No more need be said. This restaurant has been a staple in the neighborhood for decades, and that, alone, speaks to its worthiness. Definitely not chi chi - definitely down to earth, and all the better for that. Oh, and for those who are not into offal - worry not, lots of other delights. But for me - those rare indulgences that satisfy memories and taste
My first visit to Tout Va Birn was a lot of fun. It's an older, quaint bistro with a long history and family-run vibe. The menu was simple and not groundbreaking but food was comforting and nicely done. My sea bass was subtly flavored with a light, tasty sauce. My guest's chicken was flavorful but the white meat piece was a little dry. To the restaurant's credit, they must've been aware of this and without being asked, brought over a serving of mushroom sauce that instantly transformed the dry white meat into a moist, delicious morsel. The baked brie was the hit of the meal...very tasty. We were so relaxed because the staff were super friendly and accommodating. That makes our visit a good one, and we'll be back.
Food truly fine French dining, service very good. Only drawback was large noisy party
Nothing "bad" about this place just nothing great. Was a solid meal and good service, quick and efficient. A bit crowded and strange to have a monster size tv on the wall of a French bistro. Wine was good. If you're looking for a quick dinner before a show its an good choice in a section of town with few "great" options.
Authentic French food, not gussied up. Good choices something for all tastes and ages. Nice servers, Reasonably priced food and wine. Would go again in a second
Seems like they have a new chef, as the food was the best we've ever had there. One negative: they do have a $29.95 pre-theatre dinner prix fixe menu, but you need to request it. Otherwise, you won't be given it, which I don't think is very nice.
The food is delicious and service is excellent which is why Tout Va Bien is one of my fave restaurants.
Delicious. Great service. We made it to our show thanks to the quick service.
Found this little NYC gem by happy accident. We were hoteling in the neighborhood and tried several times to stop in for afternoon drinks and after theatre nightcap with no success. Booked a last minute dinner reservation and had the best meal of our trip in NYC. Charming atmosphere and service in a quaint venue. Excellent food and drink and by the end of the night felt like part of the family. Something for everyone.
Courteous and timely waitstaff. Food was very good except for the Cordon Bleu, which was a little dry. Had been flambayed which made it less moist but still had a good taste. Also pommes frites were limp and oily. Still would recommend it to friends as have had great meals there in the past. Wonderful atmosphere and staff.
Service was prompt, enjoyable and generous.
Food was excellent classic French Bistro.
Restaurant decor was really interesting.
Wonderful food and serbice
Defines neighborhood gem. Hopefully it will be there forever.
Welcoming and attentive staff. Incorrect order was corrected, immediately. Nearly each table full and all seemed delighted.
Delightful old fashioned French bistro restaurant. The menu is predictable (French onion soup, anyone?) but I have no complaints! The food is delicious. Very friendly service.
A very nice, relaxing meal just before Broadway. Friendly staff, good service, excellent food. What more could you ask for? Convenient to theatres. They've been there for years.
Great authentic French food and ambiance ......our go to place for Moule Frites
A typical tiny restaurant, loud and tight seating. French but not so much. Ordered the Mussels, could not eat the first order. Got another and much better, the frites then second time were undercooked. They brought us free dessert after we had already ordered one! Gracious but not very observant. Then they bring everyone a Sangria at the very end as you are leaving which was delicious but wasted on most people we observed. They are trying hard but I will not go back sorry to say.
While the food was tasty and internal decor is pretty, we seemed invisible to the wait staff. Service was disappointingly slow and we had to chase down our food.
