Tout Va Bien
Food was good as usual. First time having Hugo for a waiter and he was superb. Knowledgeable, helpful and charming.
Being coming here for about 50 years. Diffrrent owners but still good. Weekends bouillabaisse—the best.
Excellent choice of meals which were delicious. Good service and convenient location. I enjoyed the salmon, mashed potatoes and plentiful serving of mixed vegetables. Good cocktail: lillet fizz.
This is a very nice little restaurant and the food and ambiance is great. The staff are friendly and very nice but you have to be patient as there is not a lot of room or many servers.
You should go here when in midtown for a show.
Great local restaurant
We have been here 3-4 times before and always had a satisfying meal. This time we both ordered the hangar steak and it was mediocre. The meat was somewhat tough and stringy and didn’t have any flavor. We will still go back because the food is generally quite good , but definitely won’t order the hangar steak.
Great French food, comfortable atmosphere and really outstanding and friendly service!
I was a little apprehensive at first but after arriving at the restaurant I was taken by surprise. It is a quaint and cozy place. The food was outstanding. Very french! The waitstaff was so attentive and kind.
Great food, wonderful service and a warm, intimate space.
This old French bistro in the theater district has lost its edge. Cheap eats... You get what you pay for... Might consider other options if you desire an engaging menu with innovation .
This was a lovely French Bistro restaurant located in the theater district with great food and ambiance. The escargot was excellent shells removed with plenty of goodness to dip your bread in to. The bouillabaisse was also excellent with a tasty broth and plenty of shellfish including half a lobster. I will return on the bouillabaisse alone! I have been to Paris several times and I must say I was quite impressed by Tout Va Bien and will be back.
We have enjoyed dining at Tout Va Bien for years. Authentic French bistro with great food and attentive staff. Highly recommended!
Wonderful. They were attentive, gave us complementary deserts and wine. Great French cooking. We really enjoyed our time.
Terrific place! The food is excellent, prix fixe menu is delicious, service is lovely, location for theatre unbeatable. Love them!
Went for pre theatre meal - everything was better than expected except for the after dinner coffee.
Very authentic food. I had Beef Bourguignon stew, 2 glasses of wine & cafe au lait. My husband had 1 glass of wine, foie gras pate, a Croque Madame & espresso. The $12 glasses of wine were good and a decent size. The food was great. My husband especially liked the foie gras pate. The bill was $133 with tax and (most likely a 20% tip). The front room is cozy. I don't care for the back room as much, not enough charm. Late at night the bar is filled with French people. It's close to theatres and you go down a few steps to enter. Out front (down those 2-3 steps) is outside seating of 2-3 tables). Just a lovely convenient place with good service.
Hostess was pleasant and efficient. Got to say there was only 2 tables yo attend on a Tuesday 3 pm. Prices are very reasonable. From there down hill: place is very old and need a very good refurbish. Food was also mediocre except for the steak tartare that my spouse had. Not worth going out of your way.
Great food, excellent wine, super waitstaff and charming environment. What more does one require?
Everything we wanted it to be and more! Spectacular food and excellent service. Also easily accessible for patrons with walkers.
Try the rognons a la moutard and escargots. Been coming here for years. Best food, ambiance and value in nyc and le patron sitting at end of bar next to coat check is very hospital with excellent French!!!! He must be second generation!
Food was great, but no AC, and we were dripping sweat when we left.
Classic French cuisine, exquisitely prepared. Perfect pre-theater venue.
We enjoy going to Tout Va Bien before theatre, however we were there with a group of friends and the service was just fair. Water was not refilled and the dessert we ordered was substituted without letting us know. The food was great but the overall experience was just OK
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely dine there again
Great French restaurant. Food is always good. Our service was wonderful!
My husband and I were in NYC for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed Tout Va Bien before seeing Wicked.
wonderful french bistro - delicious food, copious portions and warm reception by owner
This long-time pre-theatre friend is in need of refreshing - the food is still tasty (I had the artichoke and mussels meuniere) and the waiters speak French which is reassuring, but the room feels a bit bedraggled without the tablecloths and décor that used to tie the small restaurant together and make it feel cozy rather than cluttered. The huge TV screen at the end, even on mute, takes away much of the ambience. You enter and smell disinfectant and feel disappointed from the start, knowing there are now a number of better options on Restaurant Row and even nearby. Alas. Alors.
Not the charming setting that you see on the website. Menu on website is old so only basic French food is offered. Lots of other restaurants in the area to choose.
2nd time here. Enjoyed!!
A true gem! Perfect before theater....but it would be great to spend a leisurely relaxed evening ala tout va bien.
Tout Va Bien has been a favorite of mine for years. It's a great place for intimate gatherings with friends and family. The food is always excellent and at a reasonable price. It's a comfortable, classic French Bistro with a coziness that is welcoming.
I really love coming here. It’s not a place you can rate using the star system. You walk-in and say hello to the proprietor Jean Pierre and find your seat. You’re close to others in terms of the seating but you feel as though you’re in your own space. The food selections are all things that they have mastered so there is little to alter in terms of the tastes and flavors. If you would like to stay longer then stay; if shorter then leave. You’re not on the clock there. At the end of the evening you want to come back again and try the things you couldn’t get to on the menu.
One thing, the wine selection is clever. No specific vintages, chateaux or domaines are listed for the most part just appellations which allows them to change things up based on the wines they are sourcing. I’ll just say this that they find affordable wines.
There was a slug on the floor next to us during our dinner...
Quintessential French bistro still a great pleasure after all these years. Excellent service good food generous portions. Good wine by the glass. Very well-located on a charming street but still convenient to theaters etc. Prices make it a top-notch bargain all in all.
Tout Va Bien is the hardest kind of place to find in NYC, a friendly neighborhood place that makes you feel welcomed, well fed, truly valued and all for less money than you thought possible in Manhattan. The food is good to excellent, the service superb, and the vibe cozy retro.
Think that the management has changed: B cleanliness rating; cold hostess; waiter zero personality. Food still good. What happened to all the French guys?
Excellent French bistro, but could have used some air conditioning, other than that, first rate
We had a lovely dinner before going to see "Oklahoma", one block away at Circle in the Square Theater. One member of our party of four was late in arriving, but the restaurant managed to serve his dinner along with the rest of us. We really appreciated their consideration which made our dinner experience so nice.
