Touro Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We contacted Touro in advance of our reservation for my husband's birthday dinner. We needed to ensure that my needs could be met as I walk with a cane & needed a space close to Appetizer Island, not wedged into another table. Kelsey Bevilaqua contacted me directly to ensure she addressed all of my concerns & they were. I only wish she had mentioned we could bring our own Birthday Cake. We arrived about 25 minutes ahead of our reservation and parking was no where to be found. The locale cannot accommodate the many restaurants on the property. It took 20 minutes of circling the parking lot to find a spot quite a distance away. This was a huge inconvenience and frustrating. When we finally arrived inside the restaurant we were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. The table was perfect and allowed easy access to washrooms and Appetizer Island. The appetizer island would be served better were there someone to direct traffic, prevent cutting in line and keep the flow of the traffic moving. Also, the more popular items, were not replenished often enough for a Saturday evening, full house, crowd. The few complaints we did have were the number of babies and children in attendance. I am not against children in dining establishments, strollers, diaper bags, and unruly behaviour are not appreciated. Thankfully, for the most part, the children were behaved, but as the night went on their resistance diminished. We left a bit early because even though the noise level in the restaurant is tolerable, by the time 9 p.m. rolled around these kids needed to be in bed, and it was no longer tolerable. When you save for some time for a special occasion you really don't want to be exposed to whiny toddlers and crying infants. When that happened that was our cue to leave. Our waiter, Nigel, was outstanding. His quick wit and bright smile made the evening. Gauchos could be more vocal & know more about their meats. Overall we give the experience 4/5 stars and will return.
On a rare day off work my wife and I went for the weekday lunch. For $27 each we had 8 different cuts of meat to choose from. Our waitress was great, our plates were never empty and the meat was incredible.
Days later I was still thinking about how delicious the food was and since it was my birthday we decided to splurge and pay the $50 each for the weekend dinner. We were told a number of times that we had 2 hours to eat. Since our lunch took under an hour and a half I didn't see that as a problem but that was just the beginning of what was going to turn into a disappointing and expensive experience.
There was only a few tables set up for 2 people and they were all located in the worst locations of the restaurant. I refused the first table we were offered as it was right beside the kitchen entrance. The next offering wasn't much better but the snotty and unpleasant girls at the front desk were showing their obvious displeasure, and we decided just to sit where they placed us. Note to owners....Lose the teenage divas at the front desk.
When the first meat server finally got to our table it was with pineapple, then it was chicken wings, then pork and then more chicken. We asked our waiter if someone with beef could come to our table. By the time we had our first bite of beef a half hour had passed. At least half the meat on the menu was never seen and we continually had to ask our waiter to get us someone who was carving beef.
Would we return? For lunch, absolutely. For dinner, not a chance. $75 for a fabulous lunch or $135 for a middle of the road dinner? Dinner service was slow, the seating was awful, the cheap meats were pushed and the beef was mostly overcooked and full of inedible gristle. Also, since we live in a first world country with perfectly acceptable tap water don't ask if we want overpriced still or sparkling water and don't then serve us room temperature tap water.
Five stars for lunch. Two stars for dinner!!!
Food was good and came regularly. One major complaint I have is that the waitress I had was very rude and gave me attitude throughout my entire stay. Mood and experience was ruined due to her attitude. Would advice this restaurant to hire a waitress with more experience.
It was my first time at the restaurant and it was such a pleasant experience. I went on New Years Eve, and the service we got was amazing. The waiter went out of his way to ensure that my partner and I were satisfied with our food, and he also engaged with conversation. We wanted the pineapple topped with cinnamon- and couldn't get enough of it. The waiter helped us by bringing more of the pineapple dessert even though the area was busy. Very impressed and definitely will come back again sometime soon.
Had a party of 8, only complaint was the table was a little small, basically 8 people squeezed into a 6 people table, we had an advanced reservation so I found that very odd. We were in the back, we felt some items never made it to the back. After we realize what was happened, we started requesting specific items to the servers, and they were very accomodating on bringing what we have asked for. Food is super tasty. Very good value @ lunch.
Had a beautiful lunch date with the wife. Place had a big spacious dinning area that people don't bump into you or pack like sardines.
Our server kept checking on us if we needed anything which I appreciated at same time not turning into a annoyance.
Gauchos constantly going around offering different types of meat. Chicken Wings and Pork Ribs were good size but I came for the Beef! Like my beef medium rare or medium which was fantasic. Sirloin, Rump Cap, Garlic Steak to name a few.
Food was coming out in a timely manner from the kitchen. Good selection of salads as a side dish or if you're a vegetarian the main course.
Pricewise not inexpensive but I would come back for that special occasion(s).
Parking lot gets busy since other restaurants in area shares the same parking spaces.
Unfortunately our special occasion dinner was dampened by extremely poor service, the waitress was rude and inattentive. I could not get my water glass refilled no matter how often I requested, plates were not cleared or replaced with clean ones in a timely fashion. The worst had to be that I had indicated that it was my husband's birthday on my reservation, the restaurant confirmed they would do a complimentary slice of cake and sparkler, while singing happy birthday. First, I had to remind them, after they already brought our bill; second, it took over 20 minutes for them to actually bring it, and when they did the waitress simply dropped in front of my husband and blurted "happy birthday" (we had just watched them deliver the same to another table and several wait staff sang happy birthday) - guess we weren't "classy" enough for them. While the food was fabulous, we definitely did not get the selection of meats offered for the weekend menu (it seemed like it was only the lunch time options). Really disappointed, as we had eaten at Cococabana before and were told that this restaurant was so much better - and it wasn't, we will go back to Cococabana before coming back to Touro's
Overall the place was nice, certainly better portions and nicer service than Copacabana (we've been to the Yonge/Eglinton location and to the one in Vaughan) - so this is the preferred Brazilian option. Portions are generous to say the least, and they ask you (instead of you asking them) to have more! The only minor down-side is that everything was extremely salty. No amount of fizzy water and wine could drown out the salt, and by the time we got home we were parched again! But the service was excellent, the food quality of very high, and there's enough room not o climb over each other. Looking forward to many happy returns.
We had a nice time. We were dissapointed that there was no entertainment as we have been to the other Brazilian restaurant and expected music and dancers. We will go to Copacabana next time as it was what we had expected and hoped to find. It was our daughters birthday and she wanted the entertainment. The food for us is secondary to the show. I should have enquired before we made the reservation. The staff was friendly.
I have been to Touro twice and both times was impressed with the food and the ambiance. I don't think they serve authentic Brazilian food at the salad bar, but there are definitely some
attempts like plain white rice and feijoada. The service is a bit slow on a Friday, and/or a Saturday night, but it's understandable because of how busy they are. I would suggest this restaurant to meat-lovers and groups celebrating an occasion. I wouldn't spend $50 on a meal otherwise, especially since that price doesn't include drinks.
Booking a reservation was fast and easy. On the night of my girlfriend and I where running late and we moved the reservation with no problems from 8:30-9:00. They gave the option of saying the reservation was for an anniversary and it resulted in a free price of delicious chocolate cake at the end of the night.
Real profit driven enterprise. Geared to get people seated, bring around the skewers one after another - too fast then they want you out and it's obvious despite friendly staff. Over $330 for 4 people & 2 drank no alcohol. If you are going to charge that much - don't treat your guests like they came to a fast food chain. A Management issue. Won't be back for quite some time.
Amazing, but perhaps the menus for drinks and desserts should be kept on the tables? As the servers don't show up often enough because they're not exactly the ones serving you here. It would be helpful to have the menus kept for customers to look as theyre eating, especially because it's a place to slowly eat the food offered to you. Salad bar was AMAZING though, so good, amazing food available. Lots for people who don't want meat the whole night!
