We were among the first guests to arrive today (Mon 11/22) for lunch - had high expectations given we are visiting NOLA and Toups was highly recommended. We ordered nice glasses of wine and then sandwiches when the wine was served. It took 45 minutes for our sandwiches to arrive - other guests were having the same experience and walking out - the Ruben sandwich was borderline on being burnt - toast was cracker dry - served with a minimal scattering of chips - waiter never returned to check on how the food was - no apologies to anyone - we didn’t even bother to say anything as many others were already vocalizing their displeasure - overheard while dining they are completely booked tomorrow evening - sounds like another train wreck of a dining experience in the making for those guests … be forewarned…

Husband and I sat out on the patio which was pleasant. It was a bit cold out but they had heaters that made it nice. The waitstaff were absolutely amazing and helped guide on what was good. We started with the Meatery Board and a bottle of wine. Everything on the board was amazing. The chicken mouse on the cornbread with pickled onions was pleasing to the pallet. The cracklings were out of this world. Best ever! The house made pastrami and sauerkraut were spot on. The board was more than enough for two people. For our larger course, we split the Rabbit and Dumplings. I don’t even know what to say as it was the very best dumplings I’ve ever had. I’ve had amazing dumplings from my grandmothers to my Moms and my own but this was by far my new favorite. The place was quaint and in a nice area. If you are coming to NOLA, Toups Meatery is a must!!

Food was great but it took a while and our server never really engaged or asked how we were doing. The dining room was nearly empty so it wasn’t that he was extraordinarily busy. Just felt like he didn’t care much.

The small plates were fantastic. You must get the fried turkey necks. Best cornbread we ever had. The place was pretty and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

The food is just perfect at Toups. I mean from dirty rice to teh ridiculous crab claws. and the confit chicken!!! Who confits chicken! It's amazing. Such a crowd favorite.

Sunday brunch might not be the best test of a restaurant, but when the kitchen sent out badly over salted fried rice and there were long delays in our other orders and cocktails, the manager responded by comping all the problem items and bringing dessert and coffee for our table of five. That left us much happier. (p.s. get the turkey necks)

Small plates were good. Main dishes were lacking both in technique and quantity. The Rueben sandwich hard very little corned beef especially for a place that calls itself a "meatery".
The chicken sandwich was soggy not crispy as billed. Beef Daub toast had two small bites of beef.

Did not meet our expectations.

Food was great but our experience was hindered by extremely poor service throughout the entire night. Despite having a reservation and being told we would be seated next to a space heater outside, servers denied multiple requests to be re-seated to open tables that had space heaters, being told "Those tables may be for people with reservations." We also did not receive attentive care as we were an hour into our meal and only had water and drinks.

Additionally, when our food came (an hour and a half after our arrival), the waitress stayed at our table for an extended period of time to inform us of her "passion for service," ensuring us that this was her calling. Throughout this monologue, our food was getting cold as we were seated outside, around no heaters in 55º weather. I'm disappointed that the poor service and lack of awareness at this restaurant inhibit the chef's ability to provide a great meal to patrons.

food was great and “authentic”. matre d was super friendly woman - chef’s wife? waiter was probably same as who has caused others to give low ratings to restaurant. food was amazing and interesting. chef was working away, enthusiastic about the cooking, and cheery, which adds to ambience and experience. will go back, but seated with a different waiter. waiter was not a mean guy - i think just his style but not right for many for a place people who want a great and complete memorable experience.

Delicious food! We started with the meatery plate with a selection of amazing cured meats. The cracklins were crispy and melt in your mouth. I had the rabbit and dumplings. Every bite was delicious. We added some cornbread and it was hands down the best cornbread I've ever had. Everything was really that good. Make a point to visit. Absolutely a must eat.

Focus is on excellently composed and expressive flavors that are savory and unctuous without somehow being gut busting and heavy. Absolutely scrumptious. Tasty and scarfable, I don't know how.

The food at Toups was amazing, but when we arrived the staff tried to seat our party of six at a table only meant for 5 and said that I had made a reservation for 5 (I made a reservation for 6). We asked to be reseated at another table and after some back and forth and almost leaving they finally agreed to seat us somewhere else. By the time we left a bigger table that could have fit us all comfortably was never occupied.

Our experience would have been amazing overall, but the service when we first arrived was lacking and not accommodating.

We waited for more than one hour for our food. The staff was disrespectful and aggressive. We ended leaving because they NEVER brought the food. Terrible experience. NOT WORTHY OF YOUR TIME OR MONEY. They never apologize about the delay, they just ignore us….

We ordered the wagyoo steak. It was highly suggested by our waiter. I was surprised at the price. I had it before and cost was much more. I honestly say the waiter was not very attentive. The place should have been full and hardly anyone there. Our food came out and my steak was not wagyoo. It tasted like maybe like round steak. It was so hard to chew I left it. I was so disappointed. I don’t like giving bad reviews. We just felt like they honestly didn’t care. I don’t plan to go back.

We ate outside, and it was perfect! Everything we had was spectacular. In particular, the turkey necks and rabbit and dumplings were life-changing experiences. We don’t often leave a restaurant and think “ I would order everything again,” but that was true at this restaurant. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly.

We sat outside and it was delightful. Our server was friendly and good and recommended a good wine (Reisling). We had the crab claws to start and they were good and unique. I had the mussels which were yummy and filling and hubby had the veal which he really enjoyed. He also had a side of cucumber salad that he really liked. We look forward to going back and trying the rabbit!

At the last minute we decided to get a table at Toups Meatery and we latched onto the last available table. Lucky us! Great service and fun ambience. Delicious wines by the glass. My husband and I ordered the Meatery Plate with the Daily Veggie Plate(roasted brussels sprouts with sweet potatoes) and cornbread. The Meatery Plate was amazing and features house created meat specialties along with tastings of a number of their splendid side dishes. This was plenty enough food for two people! New Orleans is lucky to have this wonderful chef who does much in the way of community service. A lovely evening! Bravo!
